#2: Reasons

Silverfang was filled with rage. He couldn't think straight anymore.. Seeing the blood on their knife he realized he was too late. He gently put down the fainted girl and stepped in with his sword out, He didn't give them a chance to react. In a matter of seconds, he killed them, Swiftly and silently.

He carried the girl again, her dress was stained by the blood on his fingers. He stepped in slowly and was carefully observing. There were two more in the kitchen, He calmly killed them. He began searching for his wife desperately. He entered the bedroom and saw, a corpse of a assassin, from whom blood still flowed out.

And on the bed was a decoy, His wife might have kept so, a bunch of pillows under a blanket with a wig near the head. It looked as though someone was sleeping there. He moved around and checked for anymore assassins and came out of the house.

He checked the storage area, the secret weapons storage room. He was panicking, Did they get her? Is she alright? He was panicking. He heard a rustle in the bushes nearby. He immediately took a cloak of the assassins and put it around him. He went to the corner of the wall and hid.

There was only a single person who came out. He knew by the sound of footsteps. He hid behind a wall with one hand protecting the girl and the other gripping his sword. He turned with his sword and immediately ducked as he saw a flying knife, which flew over him. But so close, that if he hadn't dodged it, he would have had a meeting with the Demon lord himself in hell.

He looked at his attacker and he had never been so happy as now. It was his wife, Riya. She was alive! He immediately went and hugged her. Riya was shocked she began crying.

"I was so scared... I thought... I thought I lost you...", Silverfang said caressing her face with his hand.

"I thought the same.. ", Riya said and smiled to ease her husband's worries.

"Thank God! I knew you weren't an easy shot! I love you..", Sil said kissing his wife's forehead.

"Love you too. But did you not think handling 5 assassins while being 5 months pregnant is a hassle?", Riya complained.

"6 assassins.", Sil corrected.

"Yes yes. I knew you would rebel but I didn't think it would be this .. soon.. ", Riya said as she looked at the small doll-like girl held by Sil.

"Sil... What's that? a doll?", Riya asked as she came close to the sleeping girl.

"Not a doll, She's this time's mission.", He said.

"What?? But, she is so small... I don't think she is more than 5 or 6 years old. She is malnourished too! Leave her on the streets and her surviving till teenage is also a feat! Just what is this?", Riya said all at once.

"I don't know, The bounty on her was even weird. 30 million. for her head.", Sil said.

"Oh my god! With that much money! They could run a castle for ten years!", Riya exclaimed.

"I know.. There is something strange with how serious Dealer was this time... I think we should not let him kill her." Sil said, afraid of his wife's reaction.

" I see, Ok then, We better pack something and let's go.", Riya said going in to get supplies.

"What do you mean?", Sil asked.

"I mean that we need to get going or Dealer's going to catch us. We need to travel South. The Lozano Empire might shelter us for a while.. Dealer's influence is not much there.", Riya said.

"Are you okay with the travel? What if you just stay here in a disguise or....", Sil argued.

"I am not that weak. and I am not alone, I got company right here.", Riya laughed pointing to her belly , " And, If I was to choose, I would rather suffer alongside you. You also need a female to help the poor girl change. She looks awful. From my experience you look more like a butcher than a nanny.", She laughed and took weapons and food supplies.

"Yes, As you say.", Sil smiled and helped her.

They began their journey to Lozano Empire. The only empire that could possibly be a safe haven than the Ezekiel Empire.

There were 6 main Empires in the whole continent. The largest Empire, towards north was the Fiera Empire led by the Fiera Royalty. They always had the upper hand in war. The west was occupied by the relatively small but well enough Empires, Rowan Empire led by the Rowan Military and the Mohila Empire by the Mohila Royalty. The Mohila rarely took part in war and mostly only took a defensive stance.

The Rowan, the opposing side to the Fiera was very active in the war, conquering and destroying all the tiny countries and territories beside it. The east had the Ezekiel Empire, led by the Holy Saint Tegan, which was the religious country. The south had Lozano Empire and the Kamaj Empire. Both these empires had a strong alliance and thus protected each other during war but since last month the alliance was broken.

It was broken as the Prince of Lozano, Kael Lozano had killed the crown prince of Kamaj by poisoning. It was a big news sensation. Both the Empires had collaborated so long that they knew each other's weakness and strengths. They had developed together meaning without one the other wouldn't survive.

Though this was the case, The King, Gaugh Kamaj, the father of the crown prince declared war on Lozano Empire. The King of Lozano Empire, Derek Lozano also waged war against them claiming it was a wrong accusation.

This put the idea in the heads of Rowan and Fiera that they agreed to end the war when either of them conquers both the Empires of the South. This was a whole chaos situation. Many families were separated and war began to finally show its effects on the Lozano and Kamaj Empires.

The Lozano Empire was searching for mercenary groups who would take part in war on their side. This was the perfect way to escape the Dealer and still continue their life. The Lozano Empire was strong enough on its own. That meant there is a chance of survival. At least better than that of being hunted by the Dealer who is a prominent in Rowan and Ezekiel Empires.

Sil and Riya crossed the border without being seen. As they reached a small cave, they decided to camp there for the night. When Sil put the girl down to let her sleep, the young girl sprang to action and managed to cut his arm and ran towards the entrance of the cave.

She was pulled back by Riya, who calmed her down. Riya peacefully introduced herself and said that her intentions were not to harm her but to protect. The girl stared in disbelief and her eyes were full of tears but she held back, not letting a single drop trickle down her cheek. She bowed and thanked them both for risking their lives to save hers.

"What's your name five-pence?", asked Riya. (five-pence is a way of referring to kids)

"Eleni", The girl said.

"Eleni... Can we call you Elle?", asked Riya.

"Elle?... Yea.", the girl said.

"Well then, Elle, From now on, if anyone asks, you are my daughter, Elle. I am your mother Riya. This is your father, Silverfang... no lets call him, Silye now... is it alright dear?", Riya asked.

"Yup.", Sil replied.

"I understand, mother.", The girl said with a calm smile that gave shivers to Riya. Then did Riya realize the one in front was not a normal kid. She was really worth the 30 million.
