Underwraps

In a world where magic is based on parlor tricks and illusion. Mystical creatures such as witches, mermaids, dragons, fairies, ect… are all depicted in novels or acted out on the tv screen. None of them are real. Any phenomenon can be proven by science and experimentation, so of course the sudden appearance of vampires being born was also classified as a myth for future generations. By denying their existence by masking the enormous amount of deaths as a natural disaster became a part of history to avoid any future worldwide panic. Of course, just because they were forgotten or misrepresented does not mean they would willingly remain obedient staying hidden in the shadows. The killing did not stop just the number of kills decreased. A few hundred thousand years into the future Amethyst founds herself being roommates with a pair of “vampires” from the old myths in history. How will this high school fantasy nerd cope with her new blood sucking roommates? Will she be able to live out a fairytale romance or will it be a living nightmare?

Demon Encounter

Amethyst seized up, feeling goosebumps gradually covering her body, when she felt foreign hands on top of her shoulder. She stopped dead in her tracks when she heard the man's voice. Xella on the other hand jumped a little in shock upon hearing his voice. He was quiet when approaching them almost like a ninja tracking their target.

Xella turned her head and smiled at the thirty-looking young man, while Amethyst gave an 'oh crap' expression on her face.

The demon himself appeared behind them wearing a business casual outfit. The black sport coat partly covering an azure buttoned down collar shirt showcased his broad shoulders perfectly. Navy blue jeans coved his long lengthy legs. His black hair was styled in a pompadour cut while his face had a well trimmed goatee beard that boxed in his charming smile.

"Oh, sensei….., Ummm...." uttered Amethyst turning to look him in the face feeling a bit nervous.

"Loss of words huh, Ms. Nue. I always perceived you as one of my best students. I didn't know you hated me that much. If it'll make you feel better, I'll leave you alone," their sensei replied acting a little emotional wiping away an invisible tear a way with his left hand. He then took a side step behind Xella and smiled at Amethyst showing his fang. "Maybe, Ms. Lan can be my new favorite student. I bet she'll be delicious company."

"Ah…..okay. I do try my best to be a decent student even though I have a punk-like appearance. Since we're already talking…. I'm actually curious about sensei. You're such a mysterious person. I heard you haven't been a teacher for long and that you just relocated here in our little city. Also, you're popular with girls of all ages despite your unapproachable aura. Many are actually afraid to come near you," responded Xella looking up at the tall and stern man before her.

Amethyst grabbed hold of Xella's arm pulling her closer to her. "Xella…. he's just one of those weird young teachers with good looks. The less you know about him the better you are of."

Their sensei glared at Amethyst with a sharp smile hiding his fangs tightly within his mouth, "Uh huh…..you think so Amethyst?"

Amethyst tensed up upon seeing his wicked smile. She was so happy when the first warning tardy bell rung. Amethyst gracefully waved goodbye to their sensei, then involuntary dragged Xella behind her into the school building. To avoid getting into trouble, once they got into the school, she walked in a fast pace instead of running to their first class. They were slightly winded, when they finally reached their class, from all the dipping and dodging to avoided colliding with other students.

When they walked into their class room their sensei was the first person they saw. Amethyst wasn't surprised to see him already there at his desk, however, Xella was clearly astonished by his quick footwork. She was speechless. She couldn't grasp how he got there faster when he was just at the school gate.

"Ms. Nue, you made it on time, and I see you brought Ms. Lan along with you. If you two would be so kind to take a seat. I'll be starting class in a moment," the demon sensei said with a smile lifting up his hand, gesturing them to take a seat.

"Umm... yes, sir," Xella responded snapping out of her confused state.

After Xella and Amethyst, took their seats, the last tardy bell rung signifying the start of the school day. As class preceded on Amethyst, not being a morning person, was starting to get sleepy again. She was so relied when an hour passed, and it was time for her class. It wasn't that the demon lord teaching put her to sleep. She just really hated math…. math always put her to sleep every year.

After the demon lord's class, she had two more class before it was lunch, which she couldn't wait to have. It was as if her insides were trying to eat itself to satisfy its' hunger. After she had a full belly, she still had two more classes left. Her last class of course was her favorite class….culinary arts. Even though she was alone in that class, she beamed with joy every day at the thought of being able to bake many delicious treats.

Today they were making banana bread from scratch. She was beaming with joy to finally get the chance to learn this recipe. None of the ready mix brands, that she brought last time from the super market, wasn't to her liking. After two failed attempts she finally was able to make a batch that she felt proud of, just in time before the class was over. She trashed her failed attempt in the trash can, making sure to give a silent salute for the fallen ingredients that had been lost, before returning to her baking station to clean up. Once her new creations were packed neatly in a box, her work station wiped clean, and all the appliances back inside the cabinets; she headed for the door.

She met Xella in front of the school to walk home. On their way home Amethyst gave Xella a mini banana bread, though in the shape of a muffin, to eat. As Xella indulged her taste buds, her mind wander thinking back to what happened that morning. It bothered her all day that she just had to inquire Amethyst's opinion about it.

"Hey, Amethyst, don't you think it was strange, how sensei is able to appear all over the place in a blink of an eye. How can his movements be so silent and swift? I was so baffled by how fast he was. We left him at the school gate, so how was he able to reach the class before us?" Xella asked with a curious expression.

Amethyst shrugged her shoulders as if she wasn't that interested in knowing. She knew very well how he was able to, she just didn't feel like exposing his secret. She figured it would be best to give her a logical explanation to end her curiosity. "Maybe, he knew a shortcut that we didn't know about. I really don't know how he got there before us."

"Ummm…. maybe he's an uncover ninja," suggested Xella with enthusiasm in her eyes once she had finished her muffin shape banana bread.

Amethyst laugh thinking that his behavior is oddly similar to a ninja. "Yes. You may be right, but what would be his purpose in becoming a teacher at our school?" she asked still a little amused at the thought of the demon lord being a fateful shinobi.

"Not sure. Maybe he's a retire ninja…. whom have lost his master." Xella contemplated a little before speaking again. "Well now that's off my chest I'm going to head inside," she said noticing that they have already reached her house.

"Alright. Bye Xella!" Amethyst said with a smile, then continued her way down the street for a couple more miles.
