Chapter 56

“Yes, ma’am,” the hostess said.

“Want to flip a coin for the room?” Pete asked Adam.

“Sure,” Adam said. He whispered in Jojo’s ear. “Do we tip?”

Jojo shook his head. “It’s not customary to tip bellhops or room attendants in the Philippines. You can if you want, but she won’t be offended if you don’t tip.”

Manny removed the luggage for Sheila and Pete and handed it to the hostess. He searched for Adam’s and when he found it handed to her.

Adam grabbed it though. “I can bring it to my room, so thanks.”

Manny moved the luggage cart to the suite next door. Before they arrived, a hostess opened the door, repeated the same greeting the other hostess gave. Jizelle, and Roger thanked her and moved in. Jojo followed, grabbing his rollaway.

“Thank you, Manny,” Jizelle said. She had folded pesos in her hand and gave them to Manny. “Please share with the hostess next door.”

Jizelle also gave a gratuity to the room’s hostess while Roger walked into one room, and then another.
