Chapter 45

The creaking of Jizelle’s lounger snapped Adam’s daydreaming. She pulled her oversized hat over more to one side, to block the sun and proceeded to apply more sunblock on her legs, arms, and torso not covered by the large umbrella. “Jojo said you’re supposed to be returning home in a few months.”

“Yes, back to Cali.” Adam accepted her offer of sunblock and slathered some over his face, his neck, and the rest of his exposed skin before moving to his legs. “What Jojo said at dinner is right. I’m planning to finally get my accounting degree.”

“Have you thought about staying here, though? I mean, after your tour of duty ends?” Jizelle asked.

Adam bit his lip. He hadn’t thought about staying. How would that work? He wondered. “I don’t know if I can stay.”

“You could finish your studying here. College here is less expensive then back home. Books are much cheaper. I’m sure Jojo could find you a job within the company.”
