"That's not what I meant!" she exclaimed, her hands instinctively waving in front of her.
Ethan's smirk deepened, his expression almost teasing.
"Oh?" he replied, tilting his head slightly. "Then what did you mean?"
She stumbled over her words, flustered. "I-I just wanted to confirm… I didn't mean it like that!"
Ethan didn't push further; instead, he turned back to the receptionist, his calm demeanor unshaken.
"The keys," he said coolly.
The receptionist handed him two sleek key cards, and he took them without glancing back at Charlotte.
She released a sigh of relief, though her cheeks still burned with embarrassment. Why did he always manage to make her feel so awkward?
As they left the reception desk and walked toward the elevator, Charlotte kept her gaze firmly ahead, determined not to meet his eyes.
