Chapter 23

“He’s in between jobs right now, actually.”

“That’s true, I meant I worked in a museum. Just like my bro. We both always have to do everything the other one does.” He looked straight at Kevin when he said it. Kevin laughed, but it was one of those nervous laughs that were quickly followed by an exit. Honestly, I wouldn’t have blamed him if he bailed. I even thought of doing it.

I also wanted to smack the hell out of him. How could he openly flirt with Kevin? It was a jerky thing to do. Am I that way too?

I felt a hand touch my shoulder, which startled me out of my thoughts. It also caused me to knock my water over and right onto my pants. I was so embarrassed that I got up and ran to the bathroom without saying a word.
