1 - A New World

Asdeath was currently working for a group of adventurers, the Holy Swords, as a porter to earn some money as a part time job. Asdeath never had much of a childhood, being abandoned early in life and being picked up off the side of a street by a kind barkeeper while he still was in a bundle wailing. The kind barkeeper, Amelia, was a kind but stern soul full of life and took Asdeath in. She raised him to be a kind and hardworking person but she could not support him too much as she spent most of her money and attention on the bar so Asdeath grew up poor and had to make his own way in the world, she did teach him basic reading and writing skills as she believed these to be essential skills.

Asdeath was currently walking in the middle of the Holy Swords group of five while playing with his ring, a ring that he had even when he was picked up by Amelia. The ring was on his left middle finger and for some reason was not able to come off, the ring was black and purple with a purple flame and a black background.

As they were walking forward, he thought this would be a fairly easy job as the Holy Swords were a fairly powerful group and these ruins, Hade's Gate, while unexplored had been easy so far. He was nervous at first to accept the job but he desperately needed the money to go to a good school as the cutoff was approaching and the ruling party focused on their own gain over their nation and people. He had been offered 25 gold coins, enough to pay for schooling for 1 year, boarding, and any materials he may need at a semi-decent school. Asdeath had also just turned 18 one week ago so he was desperate to go to school and make something of himself, prompting him to take on this job.

As they wandered through Hade's Gate, they only encountered a couple normal skeletons and easily slayed them, surprising for a new dungeon, the dungeon was expected to be harder hence the 25 gold pay for being a porter.

After a swordsman swung his longsword, with the side to provide more blunt damage, easily smashing the skull. The bones clattered to the floor and two silver coins fell to the floor.

"Man, I think this new dungeon is a bust and we're going to suffer a loss here, why don't we go to the core of this dungeon is so easy?" Said the swordsman who had just killed the skeleton.

"Why not? If it's so easy there should be no danger." Said the leader, an arrogant and brutish swordsman.

This dungeon was just a long hallway with lots of doors on the side leading to small room, usually filled with nothing. Asdeath and the Holy Swords started to walk down the long hallway, ignoring the side doors the entire way. As they walked further and further along the hallway lit with green flamed torches, Asdeath's ring started to tingle his ear and the closer they got, the more it started to happen, almost turning into a burning sensation.

After about 10 minutes of walking, they arrived at a grand and majestic door with carvings of undead soldiers marching through a gate into the unknown. It filled Asdeath with goosebumps and longing? The Holy Swords noticed nothing amiss and decided to enter, which meant that Asdeath had to enter of course.

They entered into a circular chamber and at the opposite side was an imposing gate filled with scenes of soldiers standing in orderly ranks. It looked just like the gate on the door into this chamber. The chamber also had a second floor balcony overlooking the floor, with no noticeable ways to get up to them. Everyone walked to the center looking around wondering if there was anything here.

"D*****! Why is there nothing here! We paid good money to this worthless piece of s*** to carry all our loot out of here but there's nothing here!" The arrogant leader started to scream in anger while gesturing at Asdeath!

"Maybe we should kill him to vent our anger and our 25 gold and say he died by a skeleton!" Said an angry looking swordswoman.

The Holy Swords drew there swords and started to advance on Asdeath. Asdeath tried to think desperately as to what to do. At that moment, the gate on the opposite side of the doorway made a loud sound, startling everyone. What appeared was a inky purple darkness swirling tirelessly. Skeleton archers then proceeded to run out onto the balconies and draw their bows, preparing to fire. A skeleton archer with some type of cape came out of the balcony above the gate and stared down at the party of five plus Asdeath.

The Holy Swords no longer cared about Asdeath and were now focusing on the menacing 24 archers preparing to fire on them. Their bows bent and arrowheads pointed unwaveringly at them, appearing to await the command of the archer above the gate.

Asdeath was loving and kind towards his own people but to his enemies he was as ruthless as a judge and colder than ice. Asdeath was currently in the center of the five members of Holy Swords and with their backs facing him. He took the opportunity. He took off his heavy and solid backpack and swung it has hard as he could towards the only shield bearer the party had. It hit him squarely in the head and a sickening crunch resounded out while he collapsed to the ground and blood flowed from his head. Asdeath felt as if his ring was guiding him towards the gate and with his life becoming even more screwed up if he left alive but the other five didn't and with nothing to go back to, except Amelia but she would be better off anyways. He trusted it, he lunged through the gap created by the fallen Holy Sword member and rushed towards the gate. The skeleton archer above the gate lowered its hand and the archers started firing. However, had reached the gate and his ring had pulled him in by that point. Asdeath was off to start a new life.

He fell for what seemed like hours until a gust of air slowed him down and when his surroundings cleared. He was lying in some bright green grass staring at a blood red moon in the sky. Asdeath was shocked and when he stood up, he noticed something missing. Like, his entire body was missing except for his skeleton. Asdeath had become an undead and his new life had begun.
