Learning about Place and people

It had been two weeks already. Zack had fully recovered. He was back to his best condition.

After spending time in bed and having nothing to do, he asked Momo about the place and people there.

As it was surrounded by green trees in all directions, Greenleaf Town was called "Greenleaf Town." The population here was less than a thousand people. It seemed more like a village than a town to Zack. But people are living a happy life, as far as he understands.

The south-to-northwest direction was the forest as far as the eye could see, where people from towns went for hunting. There were many types of magical beasts. The meat of magical beasts was used as food. And other body materials can be sold or modified by blacksmiths for different uses, such as fangs or horns for weapons.

There is a mountain range to the east. But the town's people rarely go there. Forget about the people; even the beast doesn't go there.

It is said that in ancient times, there was a devil who brought calamity to the whole world. The Awakens fought with the Devil to save the world but were no match, so they prayed to the Gods for help. Gods listen to the prayers of their people and punish the devil, imprisoning him for eternity in those mountains.

And to the north of Greenleaf Town was the road to the capital city.

After talking with Momo, Zack got to know that the old Zack whose body he was in was a smart guy for his age. He was a kind and hardworking person. He never says no to people who need his help. Therefore, everyone liked him.

But since the day he understood that he can't be awakened. He started to look for a way, and in his attempt to solve his body problem, he made trips in the mountains and got severely injured multiple times.

Old Zack didn't want to give up. In an attempt to solve the situation, he was willing to make a deal with the devil if he had to.

That was probably the reason he ended up dead and the soul transmigration was successful.

Old Zack was living with Grandpa Malthon, an old man. He was the only relative he knew.

Malthon was a hunter. He was like a teacher to Zack. He guided Zack in his training and provided necessary education when needed, then let Zack understand the world himself. Furthermore, he never restricted Zack by many rules and gave him the freedom a young teenager requires. Unless it goes beyond his set rules.

He was always in awe when talking about the fourth rule.

Now, if anyone wondered how he knew all about these rules, well, thanks to someone who had no problem talking the whole day, he got to know the smallest things he should know. Unless, of course, it was a secret that old Zack never told anyone.

He didn't know his parents. And the old man never said anything about it.

Zack didn't know if there was another hidden twist in the history of the parent story. Probably he will find out in the future if it means to. As most novels hide the parents' information in the beginning, Zack thought about it but didn't dwell on it much.

And Momo?She was a five-year-old little girl when Grandpa found her crying in the forest. She used to say only "Mom" repeatedly, but the last sound of "m" was so slow that nobody could hear it. So it sounds like 'mo'

So Zack named her "Momo."

It was early morning when Zack woke up. After a full recovery, it was time for Zack to train his body and take the first step on his journey to become strong.

He was in his room when he heard Momo's voice

"Big brother, breakfast is ready. Hurry up. Momo is hungry"

He smiles and replies, "Okay."

The whole week spent listening to the sweet voice of someone who cared for him was new to him. He never had any loved ones in his previous life. Now he felt comfort and ease in his heart.

He went to the dining hall. There was only one table and three chairs, and on one of the chairs, Momo was waiting for him anxiously, looking toward my room.

"Big brother, If you didn't come soon, you would have to eat the cold breakfast." She started speaking as she saw Zack come out of the room.

"Am I not here now?" he replied as he sat on the opposite side of Momo.

He took a bite and asked, "Where is Grandpa?"

"Grandpa didn't come home yesterday either. Don't know what he's doing. Where did he go?"

She answered, "Her tone was as carefree as ever.

"He said he would be back in a few days, and we should stay and take care of each other."

Zack thought about the words the old man said to him.

"I am going to check out something, so don't go anywhere like last time. You were lucky to survive before, but luck will not be there at all times." Malthon lectured him and continued in a somber tone. " And don't leave Momo alone, especially at night"

'What is her story?' Zack thought in his mind as he gazed at her up and down.

'Um… Momo. I am fine, so you will not be taking care of me, so what will you do today?" asked Zack.

"I will clean the house." Then I have to make lunch for Momo and make lunch for Big Brother at noon.

"And then make dinner for Momo and make dinner for big brother at night"

"then sleep"

'Why did I bother asking? Nothing has changed in her schedule.' Zack was speechless at her response.

"I know that much, but what will you do when you don't have to do these?"

*sighs*

"Never mind. Just stay with me when you are done with all your work. Okay?" Zack sighed when he looked at her thoughtful face.

'I wonder why she is so strong when she doesn't even cultivate. Life is truly unfair to some people. One died in the hope of finding a solution for his body so he could become strong, and the other didn't need to cultivate to become strong; both lived together under the same roof.' Zack said in his mind.
