Unbreakable love: Only one I love

Alex had one goal in life to make enough money so she could give her mother a comfortable life. But her efforts always seemed less fruitful even with her adoptive father and step-sister by her side. "Am not crying, just got something in my eye " Alex sniffed. "Am sorry, here is something that might help" the stranger said passing his handkerchief. "Thank you," she said taking it. After wiping the falling tears she turned to look at the stranger. His long brown hair was moving with the breeze around him as his dark orbs stared down at her. He bent down took his hankie and gently wiped the still falling tears from her eyes, "you missed a spot" he smiled. She smiled remembering that night, it was the day she had met him. Nathan Livingston. The man who claimed to only have eyes for her and soon had proved it.

Dear Lord

My Life has never been that interesting or joyful but I learnt to go by with it. My biological father died while I was so young that his face isn't clear anymore in my mind. My second day was the sweetest person I knew but even that didn't cover up the whole I felt inside.

With time I forgot all about it and moved on, but then he appeared.

His smile, voice, eyes and the way he understood me made me realise how much I needed that kind of feeling in my life. My world changed opening up to new things and emotions all because of him.

So dear Lord, please don't take me away from him, 'cause I finally know how much we mean to each other.

Alex felt her body go numb as she silently prayed inside the operation room.

.....

Cynthia who had been avoiding her mother's calls finally picked up.

"So your rebelling at this age don't you have any shame?" her mother yelled.

"Alex is in the hospital" she answered.

"Oh... Is she finally giving up on her miserable life"

Cynthia felt her body tense up, "They found her with a tumour, she's in for surgery now"

"Mmm, her life has always been pathetic so it's no surprise that she's facing this," her mother said... "Anyway hurry back home we are celebrating my birthday tonight"

"Mom, really"Cynthia cried, "I just told you Alex is in surgery & you want me to go home for a party"

"Her condition doesn't concern us so get back soon I don't want you to miss the fireworks"

Cynthia hang up the phone as tears flowed down her face, "I hope when he comes for you, you don't regret what you just said"

She turned to see Rosa waiting for her, "You're done?" he asked.

She nodded with her falling tears, he walked to her wiping them.

"Did your mother upset again?" she asked.

Cynthia nodded falling into her arms, "I don't know why she's so mean"

"Let it be don't worry, let's go wait for your sister," she said leading her away.

.....

Mrs White finished her second glass of wine, the guests she had invited none had appeared. Even the family staff had left, and as she sat alone in the big mansion she laughed.

"Finally all mine, after all my scheming I finally got you," she said. "I don't care if they all hate me as long as I have all this I won't care".

She grabbed the whole bottle and walked to the living room where the cake was. Taking the knife she cut a piece but before she could eat it the doors opened.

A group of black-suited men walked in and made two lines beside the entrance. Then Nathan and Roy walked in, and the moment she saw them she smirked.

"I didn't expect you this early after that attack from your men," she said walking to the seats.

He sat down and glanced at her, "But you seem happy to see me"

Walking to them she grabbed two glasses & sat down, "Am not, it's just the mood today it's my birthday after all"

Nathan leaned back looking around, "But I don't see any guests around, is the party starting late"

She sighed, "Let's cut to the chase, tell me why you're here"

Nathan chuckled, "Does my presence bother you that much?"

Mrs White blinked, "I heard your little pet is sick... I Am not surprised she's been a weakling since I knew her" She could see Nathan's face change. "Her body is just like that personally I always thought she would not survive her adulthood but here we are now".

She poured some wine into the glasses and sat back.

"I heard it's a tumour now" she laughed, "I guess her luck has finally run out, you should prepare for the worst now cause I don't think she's surviving now"

Before she could add more a hand was on her neck squeezing so tight she felt herself chock on the wine.

"Be careful with your words, old hag. I don't have the patience now to listen to your nonsense" Nathan's voice was almost a whisper next to her ear.
