Unbound Familiar

An avid gamer nerd's dreams come true in another brutal yet lucky? fashion. Follow him as he does his best not to die in laughably humiliating ways, all while trying to escape his abrupt and unwanted servitude. Will his knowledge of the world he finds himself help him succeed? Will he return home? Will evolve past his title of 'Dog'? Read and find out! This will be another multiversal world-hopping story, similar to my other one, EBW. I'll not spoil the surprise of the first world, but Skyrim will eventually be involved... And no, I'll not be adhering to plot, instead destroying it and hopefully not butchering the original story in the process. The next day Michael slowly awakens from his slumber, the teenager forcing himself to let go of Tiffania as he rolls onto his back. But, with the absence of her body warmth, the cold air prickles against his skin, surprising him as it should've warmed up compared to the night.

"Guess it's permanent furs and cloaks if we wanna stay around Skyrim... Maybe finding a nice spot in Cyrodil would be better?" he murmurs as he wipes the sleep from his eyes, his actions slowly stilling as something hits him like a reversing dump truck.

He was free. He wasn't in Halkeginia anymore, no one was chasing him, and he didn't need to fear a dragon destroying the world... At least, not one that didn't already have countermeasures against it. He wasn't sure who would take up the mantle, but the Dragon Born would appear eventually... If they were even around that time. It might just be wishful thinking for him to be close to the dragon crises, as he'd played Skyrim and possessed useful knowledge for that time. More so than say Oblivion, or any other Elder Scrolls game.

Still, the fact remained that he could do anything he wants. He had no chains containing him. He had no master. The only thing he had were responsibilities to protect and provide for his companions, which was something he'd gladly do any day of the week.

He frowns as he pulls out the Book of Heroes and begins making a checklist on a blank page. Things that he wanted to do,

First off, attempting to learn this world's magic. He couldn't learn Halkeginia's because only those descended from Brimir were able, and he was most interested in the Tamriel method of magic than Halkeginia... The lack of wands made it far more useful for his fighting style anyway.

Second, was to gather wealth. He already had a few ideas about this, even if a few were crossed out due to his dislike of nobles and general highborn. Delving into crypts for loot would be his main focus, mostly because it was easy and would grow his power as he did so.

Third, to gather artifacts whether from quests or by simply utilising his knowledge of the land. He'd make sure to steer well clear of any Daedra, but there were still valuable things scattered throughout the world.

Fourth was finding a way to heal Charlotte's mother. He didn't think it'd be difficult with the methods the denizens of Skyrim had at their disposal... In the game, you could literally just pray to any Divine and they'd heal you of all diseases, but, this was probably just because you were the dragon born...?

He closes the book and nods to himself, slowly clambering out of the tent and leaving Tiffania to sleep for longer... It didn't look like she was going to wake up anytime soon, which was kind of worrying...

Outside he's greeted by Charlotte, her mother, and Illococoo sitting around a fire while chewing on some rations. They'd already packed their tent up to allow for easy storage in his inventory, so once he stows it away he takes a seat next to them. "How's your leg Illu?"

"Still hurts big bro." she murmurs sadly pulling up the trousers she'd borrowed from him to reveal a heavily bruised leg.

Michael isn't sure whether he should sigh relief or groan at the sight. He certainly didn't want to reveal Illococoo's status as a dragon in this world... The Blades would hunt her down if they still existed, that or the Thalmor would waste shit tons of resources to see if they could use her for something. Yeah, he never liked those pricks in the game, he doubted it'd be any different here. "Charlotte, have you tried to heal her?" he asks, remembering Charlotte having little to no problems healing bruises.

The blue-haired girl shakes her head however, giving an unsure frown as she examines Illococoo's leg. "Magic feels... Weird." she utters, sounding somewhat unconvinced despite the fact it was her saying it.

"Weird?" Michael parrots, not really sure what she means. Did leaving Halkeginia make her unable to cast Brimiric magic? If so, they were stuck here, as Tiffania wouldn't be able to use her Void Magic anymore.

Charlotte nods in affirmation, "Weird." She waves her hand around as if she were feeling something. "Different. Heavy...?"

Michael's brows furrow, "Sword, you feeling this too?" he asks, tapping the hilt of Derflinger to get its attention.

"Er, maybe? I'm not all that sensitive to magic, but it definitely feels different. Maybe it's got something to do with these 'Gods' you were talking about?"

...

"Have you tried to use magic yet, Charlotte?" he asks and again she shakes her head. "You don't think you'll be able to?"

Charlotte looks down at the floor for a moment, chewing her lip before looking back over at Illococoo's leg. She lifts her staff and casts a small healing spell after a moment. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the wrong decision.

Water appears from the air and covers Illococoo's leg, getting to work on soothing and healing it. But just as Charlotte casts it, her mouth soundlessly open as her eyes flutter. She drops her staff and begins to fall backwards, only for Michael to catch her. Quickly, he checks her pulse and breathing and lets out a sigh of relief, "She's alright... Just passed out, I think." he says, spotting the similarities in her condition and Tiffania's.

"W-will big sis be alright?" Illococoo asks, jumping to her now unbruised leg thanks to Charlotte's spell.

"She will." Michael decides, inwardly adding 'I hope so'.

This leaves the group in a pickle however, with both Charlotte and Tiffania unconscious, which just leaves him and Illococoo to look after everyone. Which will be a problem if they were ambushed or something similar.
