52. Arachne

As planned, Dewi will fight the boss alone and he will only step in if she's in danger or can't defeat the boss by herself. They want to find out her limit, after all, so they need her to keep fighting until she runs out of power or gets defeated.

She charges at the Arachne after covering herself with her Light Magic. Her movement is much faster than before and she is very focused now. Indra is also focusing hard so he can support her when needed.

The arachne screams before it jumps to the ceiling to avoid Dewi's claw attack. Her claw attack is stronger too now that it creates 5 light blades that fly and cut the webs on the wall behind. She has understood her magic a little more after using it against the spiders before.

From the ceiling, the arachne spews green liquid from its mouth. Dewi backs off to avoid it, so it hits the ground. The green liquid actually melts the ground. It is a very strong acid that surely can kill people easily.

But it makes Indra curious how much that acid will affect S-Rank hunters and its effect on his barrier. He doesn't want to test the 1st case, but it's possible to test the 2nd case. Now he just needs to wait for the boss to shoot another acid shot and he will block it with his barrier.

Dewi, unaware of her brother's curiosity is charging at the arachne again. The arachne is throwing a wide web that looks like a net at her, but she simply cuts it with her claws. Then Dewi sends a strong kick at the arachne that still sticks on the ceiling.

Her kick is blocked by the arachne's humanoid arms. It's a powerful kick, but she can't even push the arachne back with it and her kick doesn't seem to do any damage on the arachne. This boss monster is very tough.

"Hmm? Wait, I don't think it's because that boss monster has a very tough body. My sister's kick was too weak. Without a ground to support her body, her kicking power is reduced a lot. Hmm, so attacking in the air can affect the power this much, huh?"

Indra never fought his enemies midair, so he doesn't know this. It must be something like physical law or something that he doesn't really understand. But he now knows that without a foothold, the power of their attacks can reduce a lot.

"That's easy to say. This spider-woman can walk everywhere even on the walls and ceiling. She can just move to any place to get away from me."

As Dewi says, the issue is catching up to that arachne so she can attack it from a close distance. It can move to every corner of this room freely while Dewi needs to be careful even just to step on the floor because of the webs sticking everywhere.

"Do you want me to take over then?"

Dewi suddenly moves to the spot right below the arachne. She crouches and the light on his legs is getting brighter. The arachne is shooting an acid ball but then Dewi suddenly disappears from her spot, so the acid ball hits the ground.

Suddenly, the arachne gets kneed from the back and flies to the wall above the boss room door. Dewi is appearing where the boss was. Previously, she jumped to the wall behind then jumped to the boss and kneed it from the back.

Dewi was so fast that the boss couldn't react to her attack. Her power is Moon Rabbit, after all, and rabbits have powerful legs that allow them to jump far compared to their body sizes. So she who has the power of a rabbit is blessed with powerful jumps too.

"That's why I told you to use your legs more. Rabbits have powerful legs, after all."

Now, Dewi's attack finally can damage the boss arachne. She used both of her knees to hit the boss using the momentum of her jumps, which were very powerful. The dungeon wall even gets dented and cracked by the impact when the arachne hit it.

There are some cracks on the arachne's scales that cover its body. Even its humanoid body parts are also covered by scales. There are some cracks too on its humanoid body scales. No wonder Dewi's kick couldn't damage it before.

"I thought the humanoid body doesn't have those hard scales. Turned out that the scales on the humanoid body are just thinner so they aren't that noticeable. They are weaker than the ones on the spider body, but still tougher than those on the normal spider monsters. This means we need to target its humanoid body."

However, while the humanoid body is easier to damage, it's not weak either. Most of the arachne's attacks are done by the humanoid body. It used acid shot before and now it shoots some air bullets from its palms at Dewi after being kneed.

The arachne recovers quickly and shoots the air bullets to prevent Dewi from getting closer to it. Then it looks at Indra and the A-Ranks who are inside Indra's barrier. The arachne shoots a big acid bullet toward the barrier. It tries to change its targets.

Too bad for the arachne, the acid can't damage the barrier at all. It just slides off and the one melting is the ground below the barrier. Now Indra knows that his barrier can defend that acid without any damage.

Dewi catches up to the arachne immediately as the boss monster is distracted when it changes its targets to Indra and others. She sends a powerful right leg kick at the arachne's humanoid body.

Surprisingly, the arachne evades it by lowering its spider body and arches its humanoid body backwards. Its humanoid body is very flexible. It can arch its body backwards in a very difficult angle as if it doesn't have bones.

That kick actually creates a light blade that creates a deep cut at the dungeon wall. Indra is surprised because this means Dewi can release the power of her light magic and turn it into energy blades not just from her hands but also feet.

The arachne then shoots a web ball from its back hole and it actually turns around to hit Dewi who's in front of it. Dewi jumps back to avoid the web ball that then hits the ground and cracks it. This web ball isn't sticky, but it's as hard as steel.

"What?! Its web can change property?"

The boss has another surprise. It swings its front spider legs and creates many wind blades that fly toward Dewi. These wind blades aren't as strong as Dewi's light blades, but there are many of them and they are still powerful enough to injure Dewi, so she keeps evading them.

While shooting wind blades, the arachne also shoots acid balls from its mouth. Then it starts moving on the walls and ceiling while also shooting web balls. The arachne is just using all its main attacks at Dewi.

"It seems desperate already because none of its attacks hit big sis."

Dewi can dodge most of its attacks even though she can't find an opening to attack back. There are some wind blades that hit Dewi because they are not as recognizable as the other attacks. They are also very fast and there are too many of them.

But because the arachne uses too many attacks, its energy is depleting very quickly. Its attacks slow down after a while because it gets tired and runs low on mana. Of course, Dewi can't let go of this chance. It's a good time to attack the arachne.

Dewi jumps around first to confuse the arachne that has become very vigilant of her and keeps looking at her now. Seeing Dewi's high-speed jumps makes the arachne worried because it can't follow Dewi's movements.

Then before it realizes, Dewi's right foot already touches its humanoid head. Dewi's kick sends the arachne flying to the wall again and now Dewi doesn't waste her time. She immediately follows the arachne by jumping using the ceiling as her foothold.

Then she stomps the arachne's spider body before sending a very powerful kick at the humanoid body. After that, Dewi sends a barrage of punches at the arachne's humanoid body without giving it a chance to fight back. She keeps attacking until the arachne finally stops moving.

"Huft, huft! Finally."

Dewi turns around and grins at her brother, but Indra is still looking at her seriously. Then suddenly, Dewi hears a loud scream from behind her that surprises her. The arachne is still alive even though its humanoid body is beaten to a pulp that Dewi is sure all the organs in there have been destroyed.

Then suddenly, a transparent blue barrier dome appears in front of Dewi. It traps the arachne inside, so its attack can't hit Dewi. Indra was prepared for this because he knew that Arachne hadn't died yet.

"I told you to not be careless. Monsters are very resilient, especially the bosses."

Black chains come out of the ground around the arachne and tie it tightly so it can't move. Indra removes the barrier and Dewi quickly attacks it again. She only stops when Indra removes his chains because it means the arachne has truly died now.
