Zoe Turner stared at her brother-in-law in dismay, absorbing what he had just told her, although she was not surprised at all. They were in the Miller’s living room, sitting opposite each other on the matching armchairs. The children were in the backyard playing, and Evelyn had rushed out to get something. The television was on mute and was playing a cartoon which the children had been watching before their father sent them out to the backyard to play so that he could talk with their aunt. Zoe sat rigidly, watching the colorful characters on the TV until they blurred in front of her eyes, and then she blinked her eyes and they came back into focus.
“Well, what do you think? I mean, she is absent-minded all the time. I don’t understand how she could just stand there and forget herself while the house almost got burnt in front of her. I’m totally convinced that she is depressed and hiding something from us. She acts so strangely nowadays.” He stated again.
