Chapter 2 The Main Character Arrives

"It's 8 already!"

With this wake up cry, a mess of blankets on Chao Ling's bed began trembling back and forth. Then after a few seconds of effort, it stopped.

"I cooked your favorite porridge with meat, eggs, and vegetables! There are a few mangos left too!

With a swoosh, the blankets came off, exposing a cute chubby boy.

"Coming!", the boy yelled, as he rushed to brush his teeth.

Three people sat at the dining table. The elderly kind-looking grandfather smiled, looking at his two grandsons as they ate their breakfast. Chao Zhi was a middle-school boy with dark circles under his eyes as he scrolled on his phone, reading webnovels in dark mode. The other is the previously mentioned boy, who eagerly shoveled food into his mouth, with a mountain of mango peels next to his plate.

"Are you ready for your first day of school Ling'er?"

"Mhm!" Chao Ling said, as he finished up the rest of his porridge with the eggs and meat. The vegetables remained untouched in the middle of the table.

"What is school like Grandpa?"

"Well, it's a place where you will learn things and meet new people. From first grade to sixth grade, you will be meeting with the sons and daughters of those descended from ancient cultivation families. You will be in groups to do activities and learn together, so make sure that you choose people who are nice to you."

Chao Zhi looked up from his phone for the first time during the meal, and looked directly at Chao Ling.

The dim lights of the study room turned on for the second time that day, exposing stacks of martial art books.

Without his eyes ever leaving his phone screen, Chao Zhi picked up a thick book named "Natural Breathing Technique"

Chao Ling put it back on top of the Escaping Technique stack, and turned off the lights.

In the dark, a total of 2 books were taken from the stack.
