Unexpected Adversary

Team 13 was patrolling around this forest for two days now, Of course, they weren't doing it nonstop, they took their turn resting and patrolling.

They weren't alone in this endeavour though; as almost a couple hundred other shinobis were also stationed here. They were constantly on the lookout for any summoning beast that might accidentally get too close to the laboratory. 

Though they were just additional reinforcements that arrived here about three days ago, they weren't even supposed to be here but thanks to the VIP that came here they had to escort him here.

This greatly relieved the workload of the previously stationed shinobis as now there were a total of five hundred shinobis on the lookout.

Apparently, on this island, some top-secret research is being conducted and if their village managed to pull it off then they might just get a summon that will be stronger than all the summoning animals that live here. He has also heard some people discussing how if this project worked then the summon that will come out of it might even be able to fight a tailed beast!

The leader of team 13 quivered delightfully at the thought of having a summoning beast that could rival the likes of a tailed beast.

Suddenly, his thoughts froze; he shivered as if his back had been doused with ice water. He turned back. Only to see a black shadow silently following him before he could do anything; he, unfortunately, stared at its crimson eyes.

Thud!

The other members of team thirteen flinched when they saw their Jonin leader fall on the ground lifelessly. They took out their kunai and were about to look around but it was too late as they also made the rookie mistake of staring at a pair of sharingans.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

As if a puppet had its string cut off, they also fell on the ground.

Swoosh!

Enkai, who just got down from the upper parts of the volcano after a successful negotiation, is about to infiltrate Kumo's USA research lab now.

This team was closest to the entrance of the base and with them out of the picture, he can now enter the Lab without any hiccups. 

Well, it's not like there weren't any hiccups at all, but those were pretty minor. So far, any shinobis he has entered he had put to sleep with genjutsu. Those who weren't affected by the genjutsu, unfortunately, had to die. 

Enkai knew this wasn't a permanent solution, and that this would come back to bite him in future. But he still didn't want to kill excessively. 

Even though he has been trained to kill by Hanzo, and he can and will kill anybody that stands in his way, as a modern citizen of society he doesn't want to make killing a part of his daily routine. 

So all these years he had tried to keep his killings to a minimum. Though his kill count is still over a few hundred.

Tap, Tap, Tap...

After entering the cave that led to the entrance of the laboratory he noticed there wasn't much security. 

Maybe it was because they were sure of the fact that nobody would invade them in the middle of nowhere, or maybe it was the fact that so many shinobis were patrolling outside. Regardless, the less security the better for him.

But Enkai became wary when he stood in front of the entrance beyond which is the laboratory. He had his sharingan active so he could see the chakra signature behind the wall and there were...three huge chakra signatures.

He knew about the first two signatures – one of them was the chimaera and the other was the Uzumaki sealing it..but what about the third one? Who is that guy?

Deciding to take the cautious approach, Enkai transformed into a scientist with a white lab coat and a long file in one of his hands. 

He could've just invaded this place with his transformation jutsu, but he didn't because he needed to gauge the level of strength Cloud Nins had and also because...he wasn't very confident in his transformation jutsu or any jutsu, to be honest.

But he was sure a bunch of scientists and an Uzumaki kunoichi wouldn't be able to tell even if his transformation was worse than canon Naruto's. With that thought he happily opened the door of the lab. 

Creak...

The door opened with a creak sound which for some reason grabbed everybody's attention. 'It's fine, it's fine' – Enkai thought to himself as he decided to play it cool and casual. But the moment he looked up he almost choked.

Pfft..!!

When he stared forward a certain blonde-haired tanned-skinned muscular guy with a triangular goatee looked back at him.

"A!?"

Enkai subconsciously muttered, he was about to run away but before he could even blink out of there Raikage's lightning-covered hand was already approaching his leg. 

Bzzz – Swoosh!

Just when Raikage's hand was about to make contact though, Enkai's body swiftly moved out of his way as if a leaf being blown by a fast approaching object.

"...How did you do that?" The fourth raikage had a baffled look on his face; he who is known as the third fastest shinobi in history and the fastest shinobi in the current era missed his Target in a contest of speed?

"..." Enkai didn't say anything, his transformation which had already become unstable because of the high-speed movement undid itself revealing a five-foot-one-inch kid with blue eyes.

"By a kid..." Raikage, who was already shocked as is, was now even more shocked.

Enkai, who quickly took a pair of one-handed swords, took his fighting stance as he stared at the six-foot-six-inch behemoth. But then something Enkai didn't expect happened.

"Kid, do you want to join kumogakure?" Raikage stopped his chakra mode and raised his hand to shake hands with him.

Enkai looked at him for a second before just dropping his weapons as he went in for the handshake, with a firm shake he said, "Sure."

Hearing this Raikage asked, "That was fast." 

Enkai only nodded and said, "I am self-taught, there are limits to what you can do with just that, and I know I can't beat you in a fair fight. Being a part of Kumogakure is like a dream come true for someone like me."

"Haha!!" Raikage laughed loudly when he heard that, the fact that he would find a hidden treasure in this godforsaken island is truly a blessing to Kumogakure. 

He would have been slightly suspicious of him if he had any headbands of any particular village but since he doesn't, this fellow must be telling the truth.

"Alright son, tell me your name!" The raikage approached him and patted his shoulder.

"Enkai," Enkai said with a stoic face.

"Alright Enkai, then let me quickly finish up here and then we will have a heart-to-heart," Raikage said as he turned around, he was here for an inspection and he needed to finish that before doing anything else.

The raikage turned around and was about to walk away when he suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his back. Quickly activating his chakra mode he grabbed whatever that was causing him pain and threw it to the side.

And then looked at it, only to see Enkai with bloody hands. He looked to his side and saw the previously dropped weapons were still there. Noticing that the sharp pain still wasn't gone he stretched his neck and slowly pulled out the weapon that was lunged on his back. 

It was a custom-made short sword. If this was any ordinary person then they wouldn't have survived this attack as this sword would have pierced their heart. Yet, Raikage was alive – he was just so big that even though Enkai completely pushed the sword in his body it still wasn't deep enough to pierce his heart.

Raikage's eyes burned with fury but he still controlled himself and asked, "What is the meaning of this?"

"..." Enkai quietly fixed his hat for a while; making sure that even when he activated his sharingan the raikage couldn't see it. Then he placed his hands inside of his poncho and took out four needles in each hand. 

Finally, when he was done he looked at the raikage and said, "It's true that I don't belong to any village but you see I have a contract to fulfil. I know I can't beat you in a fair fight so what do you think I would do next?"

The raikage shook his head as if he was disappointed, "I thought you were better than this. Looks like you are just a fool who can't tell who you're up against."

Then the Raikage charged in.
