At the gate of Rain Shinobi Village, a burst of dark blue energy surged skyward, creating a visible spectacle even kilometers away and triggering a violent earthquake.
"Rumble rumbling rumbling~"
Inside the teaching building of Rain Shinobi Village, a sharp jitter sent the students into a panic.
"Wow~" they screamed in fear.
"It's okay, don't be afraid, everyone," Yuki reassured them, adjusting his glasses with a calm demeanor. "Just follow my teachings obediently. You too can wield this power," he said, his words laden with an enticing promise that easily captivated the young and impressionable minds of his students.
Of course, it wasn't just empty talk. No matter how eloquent the speech, it couldn't fully win over hearts without substance. Yuki had transplanted the power of the curse from Jūgo to all the students, allowing them to tangibly feel their own power growing.
With a dual approach targeting both mind and body, the students naturally began to hang on Yuki's every word.
"Understood~" "We'll listen to the Sensei!" they chorused in response.
Eagerly, the students began to absorb natural energy following Yuki's method. However, the process of Sage Transformation was fraught with risks. If the natural energy in their bodies accumulated excessively, throwing off the balance with their own Chakra, it could trigger a violent curse reaction.
As the progenitor of the curse seal, Jūgo was the first to succumb to uncontrollable madness. His flesh mutated dramatically, sprouting a massive axe from his arms.
"The dance of the iron thread flower!" Kimimaro, wielding a bone whip derived from his spine, swiftly restrained Jūgo. "Calm down, Jūgo," he urged, although he himself struggled to remain composed as a thick tail emerged behind him.
"Agh~" "So painful," the students cried out, one after another succumbing to the curse seal's power.
Observing his students' agony, Yuki's face remained impassive, for all this unfolded exactly as he had anticipated.
"Everyone, hold on," Yuki advised, his voice, heavy with his immense Reiatsu, pressing down upon the students. He reassured them, "In the process of evolution, it's inevitable to encounter an ugly phase. Overcome it, and you'll succeed."
The intensity of Yuki's Reiatsu seemed to encapsulate the students, allowing them to feel the curse expanding within their bodies while also grappling with the external pressure squeezing them. It was an ordeal of both internal and external torment, a rare experience of agony.
It was akin to being trapped at the mouth of an erupting volcano, where the surging energy has no outlet and continues to build, compressing until it either becomes a part of one's own strength or leads to destruction.
"Puff chuff~" "Puff chuff~" "Puff chuff~"
The scene was grim; many students exploded and died, their blood and flesh splattering everywhere, painting a hellish picture too dreadful to behold. Yuki, as their Sensei, couldn't allow the survivors to witness such horror.
With a swift activation of Kyōka Suigetsu's Complete Hypnosis, he altered the survivors' perceptions. The bloody classroom transformed into a peaceful scene, the scent of blood into fresh grass, the cries of pain into laughter, and the chaotic chakra flow into serene streams. The touch of gore became a gentle breeze.
"Eh?" the students murmured, puzzled, "What just happened?"
"Nothing, continue with your exercises," Yuki instructed, removing his glasses to clean the bloodstains before placing them back on. His gaze swept the room; roughly two-thirds had perished, but those who survived were the ones he had deemed valuable for his experiments.
"It appears the Sage Transformation experiment is progressing well, showing a higher survival rate than expected," Yuki mused, content with the outcome. Sage Transformation, being inherent to the ninja world, naturally had a higher success rate.
Suddenly, a girl with purple hair collapsed, gasping for breath, her complexion pallid. Yuki recognized her as a minor character from the original story, Ajisai, who, after a failed mission, would be transformed by Nagato into the 'Animal Path' of Pain.
"The experiment's failure," Yuki dismissed coldly, preparing to end her suffering with a Kidō.
"I'm sorry, Sensei," Ajisai whispered, her dying faith in Yuki still evident. She felt remorse for not successfully undergoing the Sage Transformation.
Yuki, touched by her apology, halted his Kidō, not out of a change of heart but spurred by a sudden inspiration. With Hōgyoku in one hand, he placed the other on Ajisai's forehead.
"Feel the pain, understand the pain," he intoned, "Then... become Pain!"
