Chapter 73: Evidence

(4 days ago, before the attack of Riveria)

Erica inhaled and exhaled deeply after arriving at the siren's world, it was a long journey for her since she has to leave the upper sea where human eyes can see, on arriving to the path she was to take back to Riveria; she was ambushed by King Obi's assassins who had waited for her long time ago

"You came back, we almost thought you are never going to come back even after receiving the messages" The chief assassins said to her

"Which kingdom do you serve?" Erica asked them

"The Kingdom of Marco, King Obi sent us to keep an eye on you till you return" he told her

"And why is that? your new king is looking for a new hobby now?" Erica asked

"He demands your presence and he does not take no for an answer" he told her

"What happens if i do say no? i don't actually take orders from whoever isn't the great queen, you will need a better threat for me" Erica told him

"It's about Vashi, your mother" he told her

"You wouldn't want every siren to know about you been her daughter before actually clearing her name" he told her.

Erica clenches her fist while looking around.

"I will take that as a yes, remember; no funny play" the chief warned her

"I am a warrior with honor, i don't play tricks" she told him.

Erica followed the assassins back to Marco to see what their king has to say. the journey to Marco took them two days to arrive.

King Obi smiled at the sight of Erica 

"I almost thought you would never return; the human world is a very tempting place to stay" King Obi said

"I will have to agree with you on that, your majesty" Erica said with a bow "A lot of things seems to have happened at my absence; you are now a king and i am guessing it's a scar of honor you merited from it" Erica said looking at his face

"The Queen gave me the scar, it's so sad that no one would believe me because she has pretended to have a loss of her memory ; just like she sent you to your own death at the strangers land" King Obi told her

"It's treason to blame the Queen without evidence" Erica said to him

"Evidence? I don't need to find evidence when you are already one" King Obi said

"What do you mean by that?" Erica asked him

"I still hate your mother for killing my sister but what could i do when i was under the influence of my father who was under the influence of your queen; i would kill her at sight if i get my hands on her" King Obi icily said

"Your father has every right to think for himself, you do not dare blame the queen for it" Erica told him

"Exactly, that's why i killed him after his so-called best friend; your mother poisoned him, he was a fool" King Obi told her

"What?" Erica said as she couldn't believe her ears

"I am going to rule my Sirens the way I want, to do that; the queen has to step down" he told her

"And what makes you think i would side with you nor believe you?" Erica asked him

"Because you and your mother Vashi would have had a nice life together if the queen hadn't ordered the sea witch to take you from her, because i would have had a nice life if your mother had not promised my greedy father the throne; my sister would have been alive with me" King Obi said silently to her

"No, that's not true, the queen wouldn't do that" Erica said silently drawing back

"You think a queen who asked you to poison his husband the king wouldn't do that? you think a queen who labels her half-sister a traitor wouldn't do that? you think a queen who sent out her most trusted warrior out of the sea alone wouldn't do that? a queen who puts her daughter's husband life in danger wouldn't do that!!!!" King Obi shouted why coming closer to her 

"Stop" Erica said almost suddenly tearing up at disbelief

"Stop what? stop telling you the truth because you don't want to believe it even though you knew it's the truth? what has she done to you?" Prince Obi asked

"Riveria is the only family I have!!!" Erica shouted

"That's it, the reason for your ignorant; she promised you a family and you forgot that family are those who want the best for you and not use you like some tool" King Obi told her

Erica sobbed hard while placing her hand on her head in disbelief

"You all are the same, what do you want from me?" she asked him

"The Queen has to go for the Sirens to be at peace, to do that, i will want you by my side as evidence to the sirens" King Obi told her

"I am not going to do that, i don't take sides" Erica told him

King Obi quickly pointed a sword at her "You have to die here since you are of no use, the sirens does not need a warrior like you; any act of self-defense right now is treason and you will end up like your mother" King Obi said.

Erica paused without movements while dropping her own weapon

"Arrest her, she should pay for her sins of killing the great king under the influence of the queen" King Obi said

The warriors grabbed Erica and took her away.
