Chapter 2: the training starts

5 years later my dad decided it was time to start my training. My mom thought I was still to young but she decided not to say anything to avoid getting in an argument.

"Come on Evie" my dad said to me the day after my fifth birthday. I got up reluctantly and starting slowing following him "where are we going dad" I said curiosity building up in me "it's time to start your training" he said proudly "training for what" I say "training to control and master your skills" he says. He stops, turns to me and kneels down to my height "you see Evie once you grow up you'll take control of this pack but you'll need to be strong enough to do that, do you think your capable of that" he says looking directly into my eyes "yeah I think I'm capable" I say unsure of myself. This was all really confusing for a 5 year old child. "Good, now hurry up we're  nearly their". We walk for about 20 minutes in silence. "Will mom be coming as well" I say hoping the answer will be yes. "No just us and a few other kids who will be training" he says "whys mom not coming" I say disappointed "she doesn't specialise in training, she specialises in healing" "your growing up fast you need to stop depending on your mom" he says sternly "I'm only five" I say confused "yeah exactly" he says "I started training at 3, u should consider yourself lucky" "why did u start so early" I ask "well because my dad wanted me to have a head start and start early, it worked out well I was thinking about doing the same with you but your mom didn't want you to start so early" he explains "would u have liked to start earlier" he then asks "no" I say "why not" he asks "I just think starting a four is to early" I say "your just like your mom" he says. The way he said it confuses me I don't know if he meant it as a compliment or a insult. I took it as a compliment though. "anyways stop asking so much questions we're hear" he says just as we walk into a clearing in the woods. The clearing is surround but autumn leaves and trees everywhere but still a lot of space to fight and train and In the distance I can see a big lake with kids swimming in. It's beautiful.

We come to a stop in the middle of the clearing "so what should I do" I ask "u should start by climbing that tree over their" my dad says pointing to a seriously massive tree in the middle of the clearing. I look at him confused "how is that gonna help with my training" I ask "well do u think u can climb it" he asks "not really" I say looking at the massive tree. "Exactly, you need to learn to climb it's an important skill that you'll definitely need in the future" he says. "I want mom hear" I say desperately not wanting to climb that thing. "Stop acting like a kid and climb the tree" he says "I am a kid tho" I say. He gives me a stern look. I give him a look back "I'm not climbing it" I say "it's to big, I'll fall" I say. He then turns my head to look at a girl my age climbing a bigger tree than the one my dads telling me to climb "look at her exact same age as you and she's climbing a tree bigger than the one I'm telling you to climb". "If she can do it so can you". This stupidly gave me a lot of confidence as I started to walk over to the tree determined to climb it and make my dad proud.. When I reached the tree it somehow looked way bigger than it was before. But I started climbing it anyway. I put my foot in a dent that was in the tree and used it to push myself up. I then reached for a think branch to hoist myself up but I couldn't reach it. I started stretching for the branch but it was no use. I decided to put my other foot above the one in the dent and try to push up on it to reach the branch but as I pushed up on it I stupidly slipped and fell on my bum. Luckily I was only like 5 feet up. But that didn't stop me from crying and me crying didn't stop all the kids from laughing at me which just made me cry even more. "Everyone get back to training now" my father shouted as I walked away from the clearing embarrassed. I expected him to follow me but to my surprise he started helping a group of kids train. I didn't mind though, I wanted to be alone
