Within One Week

Lin Yan felt awkward, hugging and calling a stranger her mother. It made her remember her own mother and till this day, she hated that woman.

"Do you know how I felt when Li Lingyun told me about your accident?"

Lin Yan was stunned when she saw tears from this woman eyes, she could see Shen Yi really mean a lot to her. She had once heard of Shen Mua story, of how she lost her daughter and adopted Shen Yi to fill that spot.

"Mum, I am fine, you do not need to worry about me."

"How can I not worry about you. Shen Yi, you and Li Lingyun have been married for three years, don't you plan to accept him as your husband."

"Why should I? My only connection with Li Lingyun is Li Xiao and that will never change."

Shen Mua really wished that her daughter would change her mind, to her, Li Lingyun is a good man and he is the only one capable of protecting her from that crazy man.

"For now, I just want to focus my attention on Li Xiao. Even though I have broken up with Mu Chen, I still don't see myself being in a romantic relationship with a man like Li Lingyun." Lin Yan said. She knew Shen Yi hated Li Lingyun, so at this moment she had to behave like Shen Yi and talk like her and be cold just like her but make it known that she was changing a little.

Shen Mua widen her eyes in surprised as she asked "You broke up with Mu Chen? Did you really break up with that man?"

Lin Yan could see Shen Mua excitement and said "Yes, I broke up with him. Though not looking for a romantic relationship with Li Lingyun, I wanted us to have a fresh start and the only way to do that was to break up my relationship with Mu Chen. I just want to focus on Li Xiao and give her the love I never gave her."

Lin Yan could see that Shen Mua was a good person and she loves Shen Yi a lot even though she is not her real daughter. She wondered how the woman would feel if she were to find out that her real daughter was dead.

Just then, her phone rang and she saw that it was Li Lingyun calling her, she wondered why he was calling and answered "Hello."

"Did she cry?"

"What?"

"I heard that a lot of children cry on their first day so I was wondering if Li Xiao cried when you dropped her at school."

Lin Yan smiled unconsciously and said "No, she didn't, she was happy about going to school."

"Hmm. Can you do me a favor?" Li Lingyun suddenly asked

"Sure. What is it?"

"I forgot a document that I will need for my meeting in an hour, can you get it for me and bring it to the company."

"But can't Gu Wei do it?"

"I sent him on another errand. Are you unable to do this for a friend?"

"Fine I will do it. What document am mine exactly looking for?"

"It is a document concerning our company project, the word 'confidential' is written on it. So when you see it, you will know it."

"I understand. I bring it to you before your meeting."

"Thank you." Li Lingyun replied

Lin Yan ended the call and noticed her mother was staring at her "What?"

"Your relationship with him has improved and you were even smiling."

Lin Yan sigh and said "We agreed to be just friends and I was smiling because we were talking about Li Xiao."

Shen Mua smiled and said "Ok. I won't force my opinion on you. I just hope one day you and Li Lingyun relationship will be more than friends."

Lin Yan just smiled and said nothing.

After getting the document, Lin Yan arrived at Li corporation. She stood in front of the company and stared briefly at the floor she lost her last breath. She sighed and went inside the company.

Lin Yan met with the receptionist and said "I have a meeting with president Li Lingyun." She knew that Shen Yi have never been to the company, so they would not easily allow her to go to Li Lingyun office.

The receptionist looked at Shen Yi suspiciously and asked "What is your name?"

"Shen Yi."

The receptionist decided to call secretary Gu, when the call went through she said "A lady named Shen Yi said she have an appointment with secretary Gu. I wanted to confirm this before letting her in or sending her away."

The receptionist nodded when she heard secretary Gu reply and looked at the woman suspiciously as she said "You can go in. If you want I can escort you to the president office."

"There is no need for that. I know my way around, thank you." Lin Yan replied

Lin Yan entered the elevator and pushed the button for the highest floor.

Lin Yan took a deep breath when she arrived at the president floor. She saw Gu Wei waiting for her and said "I bought the document. I hope I wasn't too late."

Gu Wei smiled politely and said "You weren't. There is till ten minutes left before the meeting." He stretched out his hands to collect the document.

Seeing his action, Lin Yan said "I will like to give it to him personally, if you don't mind."

Gu Wei nodded and said "Of course I don't mind. I will inform him that you are already here."

"There's no need for that."

Gu Wei nodded and left the floor. Lin Yan could not believe that in the whole floor there was only Li Lingyun office in it. She went to his office and knocked on the door. She entered when he told her come in and for a moment she felt like she was hypnotize. Seeing him rolled off his long sleeve shirt and working made her remember something she read that says a man becomes charming and very attractive when he is in his working.

She have seen Li Jun worked on his laptop so many times, but she has never felt anything, could it be because she is in a different body.

Li Lingyun who thought it was Gu Wei felt strange when he did not say anything, he looked up and saw it was Shen Yi "You are here?"

Lin Yan cleared her throat and said "Yes, I wanted to deliver the document."

"You could have ask Gu Wei to bring it up."

"I wanted to do it personally." Lin Yan said as she walked closer to him and handed the document to him. "This was what you asked for right?'

Li Lingyun collected it and screen through it before saying "Yes, thank you." He checked his watch and stood up, worn his jacket and said "I will ask Gu Wei to send you back."

Lin Yan noticed his cold aura and wondered what happened, she said "There's no need, I drove here."

Li Lingyun nodded and was about to leave when Shen Yi held his hand.

Li Lingyun looked at the small hand holding his and asked "Is there something else?"

Lin Yan released her hold on him and said "Yes. Can I join you?"

"You want to attend the meeting?" Li Lingyun asked, giving her a confused look.

"I read through the document and I know you are planning to build a shopping mall at district 8, a lot of people will oppose to it because they will lose their home."

"And that is why they will be heavily compensated, but so far they refuse to leave their home and to collect the money." Li Lingyun replied.

"Let me help me with it. I will ensure that within one week they all would have left their home and have accepted the compensation"

"And why would you do that?"

"Because I want something in return."

"And what would that be?" Li Lingyun asked as he looked at her with no expression on his face, but the truth is he was wondering what she was thinking, he actually wondered what is it she want in return.

"The hotel that grandpa gave to Wang Hua. I want it to belong to me."

Li Lingyun raised his brow in surprised. The hotel was actually a big one and it has generated a lot of money when he was handling it until his grandfather asked him to give it to Wang Hua. Ever since then the hotel haven't been generating much income like it was before and it almost fell into bankruptcy a few months ago if not for her son quick thinking.

Li Lingyun looked at Shen Yi and asked "Why do you want the hotel?"

"Because it seems like a good money making business."

"Do you know how to handle an hotel."

"That is why I have you."

"I have too much on my plate to start teaching you how to handle an hotel." Li Lingyun replied coldly.

Lin Yan looked at him and said "That is not it. You are just against it, what I don't know is why?"

"Because I don't want you to have issues with Wang Hua."

"I can handle her or is it that you look down on me."

"What? How could you even think that? Fine, if you are able to get the people to collect the compensation and leave their house within a week, then I will ensure grandpa puts the hotel in your name."

Lin Yan smiled and said "Thank you."
