Nathaniel got into the room that was provided for him. He left all his tools in the car in case the king searched the chosen.
He trusted himself to be able to handle the demon king and his werewolf army without it. "Justice will be served," he uttered coldly.
The room was empty with only the bed and two chairs inside. The bed was decorated with plants petals he had never seen before. And besides, the two chairs were weird plants.
"This is not creepy at all," he whispered. Remaining standing he dared not go anywhere near the creepy stuff in the room.
He waited for a few hours but still, no one came for him like he was told. Due to not getting much sleep before, his eyes were threatening to shut close.
He moved to the bed and laid down with his eyes to the door. Being alert not to be caught off guard by the creatures he came to kill.
Soon his eyes gave out and he fell into slumber. As soon as his eyes closed a secret door behind the wall near the bathroom door opened.
A group of people walked into the room. It was already dark outside but the moon was yet to rise. The festival was soon, to begin with, all seven chosen accounted for sleeping peacefully on their beds.
One of the men went to the bed to examine Nathaniel. He frown at what he discovered and turned to his friends.
"We have a problem," he informed them.
"No, I don't want to hear that today. Today of all days, my brother is attending the festivals. Problems can't be at this festival," the woman in a blue knee-length dress uttered.
"What is it?" the man next to the woman asked.
"Lana, the seventh chosen is a half-demon," he told to her while trembling.
Lana was the she-wolf and the sister to the demon king. She was also an alpha which was a secret that only the true members closest to the king knew.
She was very doting on the king and hated anything that made the king unhappy. She was the only woman to successfully transition into a wolf as a bitten.
As she was not born with the natural genes of the wolf, she couldn't have survived let alone climb up the ranks more than the natural-born wolves.
She was one of a king and was as cold as ice and terrifying like her brother.
"A demon, how in the world did you make such a mistake Tashi?" Lana questioned turning around to gaze at the seer who had selected the chosen for the ceremony.
Her blood was boiling from how hard it had been for her to make everything perfect for her brother just for the girl to ruin it.
"I swear..."
"Save it," she demanded and sighed. "It is too late to find someone else so he will have to do. Bring him to down," she ordered.
Nathaniel was dressed in a white robe before he was carried out of the room. The petals on the bed had attached themselves to his back from his neck to his legs.
He was brought out to the garden where six men stood guard to prevent unwanted guests from entering and interrupting the festival.
In the middle of the garden laid seven stones the size that a grown man can lay on. There were weird markings on the stones that told the story of the curse of the moon. The carving were all connected in a line from the beginning of the story to the end.
The secam chosen were each laid on the stones as the esteemed guests took their seats to watch the show. A drama that explains the origin of werewolves and the moon goddess's plan for her people.
The puppet show began, all had gone silent to watch the show. But most of them had their eyes to the high chair meant for the king. This was a grand day for them as they get to see the king of the Silverins. Their esteemed pack.
They knew him only by name and very few had met him so everyone who is anyone showed up today to see him.
But his seat was empty and he was not there. They couldn't help but be disappointed that he wasn't there. Since the king was to perform the ceremony they were still hopeful of catching a glimpse of the man that spread terror down their spines.
His sister Lana sat on the seat next to his watching the demon on the sacrificial stone. She had a bad feeling about him and his intentions.
It wasn't every day you meet a demon at an event meant for werewolves and that too when demons were enemies with werewolves.
"What are you thinking about?" her right-hand man Axel asked her.
"My brother, he means the world to me and I can't see him get hurt," she replied. "Keep an eye on the demon. I don't want any more surprises," she ordered to him.
She felt bored watching the show, the story has been told for years since she was a child. She knew it by heart and didn't want to waste her time watching it.
"I will, do worry no harm shall befall the king," Axel assured her.
"I am his sister it will always be my job to worry about him, this festival will be the best thing for him and I can't wait to see him get a mate," she let out happily.
Thinking of the king finally getting a life partner and having someone by his side meant a lot to her. She had only one thing to ask for from the goddess, the wish was for her brother.
Thinking of her gift made a teardrop from her eyes as it reminded her of the reason that she has to make the wish. The curse that the king had taken on himself just to save her life was something she could never forget.
