10 Chapter 10

"See you tomorrow!" Angela bid Chess a goodbye before finally leaving with her friends.

It had been a long day for the students of Section 1 – B. After the incident earlier, they were forced to do the introduction of the school year's first semester themselves, led by Hans, our senior and aspiring class representative.

All of them here are students that ranges from freshmen to seniors. All in all, they were 26. 5 of them are freshmen, 9 sophomores, 8 juniors and 4 seniors. They have no middlers since the University only caters four-year courses.

This university have unique educational system. All students of different years, but the same section and class, are to sit inside the same room for the first period and are required to treat each other as classmates and friends. The school said that it was to strengthen the bond and to lessen the pressure on freshmen and seniors.

Before they practiced this kind of educational system, 10% of the freshmen in their school ended up dropping while 6% of the graduating students ended up failing.

A psychological expert said that it was because of the pressure. Freshmen face the pressure of being in a new environment and sudden change in education, while seniors face the pressure of the incoming graduation causing them to rush their studies and ends up failing the test.

So, in order to prevent that from happening, the board had finally come up with a solution. The psychological expert also supported the idea of mixing the students in one class.

Aside from building bonds, they can help each other out. Seniors can guide the freshmen on the lessons while the freshmen can help the seniors relax once in a while. After practicing this new educational system, the number of students who drops and fails decreased.

After the first class, they all went to their separate classes. And now, at 3 o'clock, the class had finally ended. At least it's the end for normal classes, but in Chess's case, he still has a supplementary class at 5 pm.

What should he do to kill his time? He doesn't have anything in mind.

He went back to his room in the dormitory and decided to change his clothes. It was okay to exit the university as long as you come back before 6 pm, so maybe, he'll just go out to walk for a bit.

With a white long sleeve, black pants, black shoes and black cap, he went out of his room looking very much handsome. He also had that black-rimmed glasses on, making the people turn to look at him. He was in a boy's dormitory, so normally, everyone was male.

They stared at him from head to toe, then back to the face that was covered by the cap. He was extremely handsome and cool with just that simple look, while in their case, wearing something that simple would just make them look okay but definitely not handsome like that.

How can they become good-looking like that? Everyone sighed before going back to their own businesses.

In Chess's case, his cap had hidden the fact that he was more on the pretty side than on the handsome one. His eyes are enticing and attractive, alluring everyone who stares too deep, so when they look at his eyes, it makes everyone think that the person who owns it is female.

Now that he had his eyes hidden by the cap and glasses, his handsome features are exposed. That refined jaw and polished nose… he was the image of a university heartthrob.

Of course, in this university, a beauty like that is just normal. With the university's standards, you can't enroll if you look ugly or dirty. It might be a form of discrimination, but what can they do? That's just how it is.

While walking out of the university gates, he noticed that the area around was full of street vendors and different stores. But even though the place is full of vendors and people, the area wasn't dirty at all. You can see guards patrolling around, reminding the people to be mindful of their trashes.

"Hey, hey, I haven't seen you before… you're new?"

Someone from the alley across him spoke. Chess stopped on his tracks and glanced at him… them.

There were five people across. 4 males and 1 female. They had that arrogant and unpleasant look on their faces, clearly showing the people that they are not from the top university. Chess considered that thought so he just gave them a smile and decided to proceed.

"I'm talkin' to you, bastard."

Of course, they were the type of typical wicked mobs who wouldn't let the mc go without a fight. Chess wanted to avoid any mishaps during his walk, so he decided to just go and ignore them. The person across wasn't pleased. He doesn't like being ignored, so he nodded at his men and signaled them to take an action.

His man hurriedly crossed the distance between them and Chess, glancing left and right, before grabbing him by his arms. They forcefully took them along and came back to the dark alley, away from the guard's eyes. Chess didn't make a big fuss out of it making those people grin.

"This person looks weak." One of them sneered.

He then pulled Chess by the collar, causing his cap to fall and expose his eyes. The man laughed at the sudden change of his look. He looked nothing like the man earlier! He looks like a fragile damsel in distress- a fragile female!

"Look, look! This guy is a catch!" they laughed in chorus and took turns to look at Chess's face. The rumors were true, students of the top university also had top-notch looks.

They then turned to look at the only female in the group.

"This guy looks prettier than you!"

The girl spitted and sneered, looking at Chess's face with disdain. Who allowed him to be prettier than her? She's surely gonna ruin that face. Let's see if anyone would still think that he's pretty.

"What do you want?" Finally, Chess had spoken.

He removed the hand on his collar and distanced himself, picking up his cap and placing it back on his head like nothing happened. The people surrounded him with smirks on their faces.

"Nothing… we just wanna say hi and make friends." The person in the middle spoke, clearly sarcastic.

Chess flashed his innocent and friendly smile before reaching his hand out.

"Then, it's nice to meet you."

'Is he an idiot?' everyone around him had crumpled their faces. This person is unbelievable. Didn't he realize that they were actually trying to bully him? Or is he just acting innocent? The girl was the first one to react, tapping Chess's hand away.

She then stretched her hands and slapped him straight on the face.

Chess's cap and glasses flew. He had lowered his head while facing sideways. The impact of the slap resulted in a loud snap causing everyone around them to gasp.

"Woah! That's a nice hit!" they cheered.

The girl raised her head and looked extremely proud. She was just about to deliver another slap when a voice floated over.

"What is happening over there?"

It was a man.

The unknown group of people glanced at each other and had decided to run. At the count of five, they disappeared at the other side of the alley. The girl had purposely bumped into Chess, causing him to stumble and fall.

When they were no longer around, the man who saw the scene approached Chess. He picked up his cap and glasses before reaching his hand out to help him stand up. Chess gladly took the help and stood on his feet. He patted the dusts away before raising his head to personally thank the person, but before he could even open his lips, something had already covered his nose.

He smelled something strong. Something which made him dizzy… and after catching a glance at the person's face, he lost his consciousness.

At 5:45 pm, inside the university forest, six people are gathered inside a room. They all had lazy auras around them and were obviously bored. A minute had passed and someone finally entered the door. They turned to look at the person and saw their professor. He had a cellphone in one of his hands while the other is in the pocket.

"Kane and Aoi, get ready. We received an order today."

Kane, whose name was called, groaned and yawned. It was the first day of class, so why would they receive a mission right from the start? But because it was out of their grasp, he had no choice but to conform.

Aoi, who was the other person called, had approached their professor while continuously glancing outside. He had grabbed on to Prof's coat and asked.

"Where's Chess?"

Out of the six people inside, only he showed concern for Chess. Prof had reached for his head and slightly caressed his hair.

"I don't know… Maybe he forgot today's class?" professor answered, but Aoi wasn't convinced.

That person didn't seem like someone who easily forgets, he thought. Maybe he's just late? It's too bad that an order has arrived… if not, he would probably wait for Chess. But right now, the task is more important. When he comes back and Chess is still nowhere to be found, he'd go and look for him himself.

But right now, he needs to go and complete his part. With that thought in mind, Aoi's aura changed completely. From his childish and dollish look, he turned into someone who is dark and mysterious.

He'll finish this fast and then he'll go find Chess.
