RIKU YAMASHITA

*RIKU'S POV

"Who sent this?" I asked my henchman Zen as he handed me a letter sealed with a red dried clay. I trust that he already has the answer to my questions.

"The only thing that's on the package is your address and  and a piece of paper with instructions written on it" He replied, meeting my eyes with confidence. His stature is almost similar to mine. Standing at 6'5 , he's a man you don't want to mess with.

"Instructions?" I repeated. I can't help but release a threatening aura. I don't mind being demanded by my lovely daughter... but thinking that someone else sent me an old school letter at 8:27 am on a Sunday with supposedly instructions written on it is as messed up as it can get.

"Yes Riku!" He draw back slightly at the sight of me. I smirk as I saw his blue eyes turn totally black letting me know that he's on guard.

"Relax.. I won't bite you!" I said teasing him. It's  been awhile since I saw this kind of reaction. I have known Zen for a very long time and he never failed to amuse me.

"Well...with all due respect, you already did!" He exclaimed tilting his head to the left to show me his bare neck with a bite mark.

"You bit me 75 years ago turning me into a vampire! It's almost a century but I remember it like it was yesterday!" He continued while pulling down the collar of his brown shirt.

"Yeah..yeah" I lazily agreed to his statement. "You would've died a long time ago if I did not do it." I added.

"O..of..of course! I am forever indebted to you Sire!!" Zen uttered almost immediately. I laughed as I slightly hit him on his chest. I signaled him to go back to his post as he finishes our conversation about the letter.

I saw my angelic daughter coming down the stairs when I came in thru the front door. She was all in black except for her pink slippers. Next to her is Shunsuke who immediately bowed down after seeing me. I adjusted my robe to look a bit more presentable in front of her.

"Good Morning darling!" I greeted her while closing the large oak door behind me. "Good Morning Dad!" She replied with a huge grin plastered on her lips as she slowly made her way down the long wide stairs. I observed her eyes as she examines the red carpet and the intricate dragon design of the wooden handrail.

"Where did u go?" She asked me noticing that I'm still wearing my robe.

"Zen knocked and gave me this letter." I reply, lifting the envelope with my right hand.

"This early?" she asked. I had the same reaction earlier.

"This was apparently delivered last Thursday and had a specific instruction written on the package to hand it directly to me on a Sunday." I continued to explain in one go.

Her eyes widened like she saw her crush if she ever has one.

"Hontōni?..Sugoi! "She exclaimed.

"You find that amusing Yuki?"

"Yeah Dad. Just the fact that someone dared to send you this outdated letter is peeking my interest." she giggles. Her smile really reminds me of my late wife. I can't turn back the time now but I just wish she could see our daughter grow wherever she is right now.

"Well, you're right about that."

"So... Who is it from?" her curiosity is standing out.

"Whoever it is, this person better be not playing a prank on me" I replied dead serious. I can feel my eye color switching from black to red.

"Calm down dad. I don't think you need to go that far." she says, trying to convince me to relax. She sound so mature now.

"Gomen." I replied immediately. I closed my eyes and felt my eye color shifting back to normal. She sheepishly smiled.

"Let's eat?" I ask to move forward with our conversation. Yuki nodded immediately  as she reaches for my arms to embrace.

"Ohayōgozaimasu Oyabun" Shunsuke greeted me while paving the way to the huge dining hall.

My daughter finished her meal faster than the usual. She may be excited now that he's meeting this guy she calls 'special'.. but no one is above her. Well, atleast from a father's perspective.

I don't even understand why she needs to make an effort to look for a partner when there's so many men vying for her attention and love. Anyways, we already had this talk and I'll trust her judgement.

She stood up and kissed me on the cheek as she gathers her things on the table.

"Take care and Good Luck!" I bade goodbye seeing Yuki and Shun leave . I was still drinking my coffee so I stayed on my seat.

"How about you Sire?... Do you want some fresh blood?" I heard Maria ask. Her face is illuminated by the fridge light, pausing her movement while waiting for my reply.

"No thanks. I'm good." I declined nicely.

I stood up after finishing my coffee, folding the newspaper and tucking it between my arms and body. Maria bowed down as she cleaned the table after me. I went upstairs and entered my room. Scanned the place and I felt empty.

The king-size bed covered with dark blue sheet has become an adornment. Everything inside has been unused except the large sofa and  the mini library. The huge bedroom served no purpose to me.

Walking directly to the bookshelves, I pulled one book down and another door opened behind me. The path leads to my office where I spent most of my time after my beloved wife died. I sat down to my usual seat and took out the letter I inserted inside the pages of the newspaper. I then removed the clay seal and I saw an elaborate familiar handwriting. My hands tremble as I read the words.

THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING.
