MY LAST CHANCE

*YUKI'S POV*

"Good Morning darling!" My dad greeted me as he closes the large oak door behind him. "Good Morning Dad!" I replied with a huge grin plastered on my lips as I slowly made my way down the long wide stairs.

The red carpet hugged the steps perfectly, making me want to stop and take a picture. An intricate dragon design of the wooden handrail is an art to behold. The red and blue paint of the intertwined bodies of the dragons with gold linings, shimmer as the sunlight hits directly from the large windows of the living room.

"Where did u go?" I asked him wondering where he went when he's still wearing his robe.

"Zen knocked and gave me this letter." He replies, lifting an envelope with his right hand.

"This early?" I asked

"This was apparently delivered last Thursday and had a specific instruction written on the package to hand it directly to me on a Sunday." Dad continues to explain in one go. He furrowed his brows and so creases formed on his forehead.

"Hontōni?..Sugoi!" I commented.

"You find that amusing Yuki?"

"Yeah Dad. Just the fact that someone dared to send you this outdated letter is peeking my interest." I giggled.

"Well, you're right about that"

"So... Who is it from?" I continued, curious on who the writer could be.

"Whoever it is, this person better be not playing a prank on me!" he replied dead serious. His eye color switching from black to bright red.

"Calm down dad. I don't think you need to go that far." I said, trying to convince him to relax.

My father is the one who built this empire and was branded as the Ultimate Yakuza boss who holds 869 clans in 25 different districts in Japan - and is probably why he's always on his toes.

He is really sensitive to things like this. We have had a few life threatening disturbances lately and his protective fatherly instinct is kicking in.

I sometimes even forget that he is a blood sucking creature, feared by many for hundreds of years because of his natural caring and sweet demeanor, but aside from the closest members like my henchman Shunsuke, we have been quiet about our bloodline though. They don't need to know and if they will at some point, it's going to be highway to hell.

"Gomen" dad replied softly. His eye color now shifts back to normal.

I sheepishly smiled as I realize that I did not want him to apologize to anything. He is only protecting me and our extended family.

Dad never made me feel different from any other humans. Being a half vampire, I always had my own share of differences but never felt an outcast.

I thirst for blood. I am a hundred folds stronger and can travel long distances quickly... but he taught me how to control them and blend in.

"Let's eat?" I nodded to his question as I reach his arms to embrace.

"Ohayōgozaimasu Oyabun" Shunsuke greeted my father as he paved the way to the huge dining hall. The swift of air made my stomach grumble. The smell of the sautéd pig's liver made it's way to my nostrils. I hurriedly sat down and waited for the food to be served.

"Do you want some fresh blood, Ōjo?" The lady servant asked me as I finished the last bite of my meal. Wrinkles are visible at the corner of her eyes as she smiles sincerely.

She devoted her life to serving the family as a gratitude to my dad. I still don't know the full story of what happened between them but I believe it had something to do with my late mom.

"Yes please.. but can you pour it inside my tumbler instead?..I'm actually running late from my appointment."

I stood up and kissed my dad on the cheek as I reach out to get my things on the table.

"Take care and Good Luck!" he says. I immediately grabbed the blue tumbler handed to me.

"Thank you Maria" I said as I made my exit.

Shun opened the door of the passenger's seat so I slid inside and allowed myself to feel comfortable.

"Ready?" He asks as he started the engine.

"Yup" I answered.

"Do I look okay?" Throwing back a question to him. His eyes widened as if he did not expect me to ask that.

"Of course! Your eyes are no longer swollen so u should be good!...pffftt.."

"Please forget that image already!"

I demanded before he could burst out laughing.

"Okay, okay" he said, looking at me in the rear view mirror.

We drove past tall trees and many greenery as I listen to one of my favorite japanese songs - 'Answer' by KAF -

"Lets journey to a world with no correct answer.

You don't have to be afraid of change.

Towards an everyday life without any correct answers, there I'm sure we won't be alone."

The message of this music depicts what I'm feeling right now.

I hum and silently sings the lyrics of the song when I noticed a grey BMW similar to the car I'm in following behind closely.

"Did dad really have to?" I suddenly questioned Shun while face palming myself.

"He just wants you safe at all times. I can't blame him since your his only child" he replies but his eyes did not leave the road.

I let out a sigh as I close my eyes waiting for our arrival.

I woke up at the halting of the car. I did not notice that I drifted off midway of the travel.

"We're here Yuki" Shun alarmed me. He's the only person aside from my father who can or rather allowed to call me by that name.

"Uhuh" I replied as I fix my hair, combing it using my fingers.

"I'll be waiting in the car. Let me know if anything happens. I'll be storming my way in" He exclaimed with a side smirk.

"Thanks!" I said with sarcasm as I open the car door.
