Took Care of Him

Panting, Ellie looked down at the weak-looking man lying on the bed and put her hands on her hips. After wiping her sweat off her face and taking a breath, she started removing his shoes.

It took a lot of energy for her to drag this huge body back to his room.

Ellie breathed a sigh of relief when she remembered what had just happened. She was about to kick him when she felt her ankle being grabbed. There was only a dim light throughout the entire second floor, making it impossible for her to see clearly.

She wouldn't have recognized that man if he hadn't made a sound. What, she wondered, did he do lying on the floor in the first place?

Wait! He was groaning like he was in pain.

Curious, Ellie bent down and touched the man's forehead. She gasped when her skin felt him. She drew her hand back and fixed her gaze on the man.

"Fever," she muttered.

Not wasting any time, Ellie immediately went to the bathroom. She took a basin, poured lukewarm water in it, and then brought it back to the room along with a clean towel.

"Young Master, you have a fever. Let me change your clothes and wipe you down," said Ellie as she prepared to unbutton Noah's shirt.

Grep!

As he saw Ellie's hand approach, Noah grabbed her wrist. Even in his frail state, that man's stare was still intimidating.

Ellie then said nervously, "Young Master, you–"

The man looked at her. His brown eyes were cold and spat his words, "Just get Helen!" He flung Ellie's hand in disgust.

Ellie staggered as she was caught off guard by the abrupt movement. Fortunately, she was able to balance her body.

She dropped her gaze. Holding back her emotions, she replied softly, "Helen hasn't returned from your family mansion yet, Young Master. Mrs. Anderson contacted her later this evening."

Noah eyed Ellie with suspicion. He held his gaze on her for a few seconds, as if looking for a lie.

"So, because Helen isn't here, you want to take advantage of me?"

Take advantage of him? Yes, he had a great body. So what? take advantage of him while knowing how he feels about her? No way! She still wants to see the light tomorrow, okay?

Ellie exhales deeply. She lifts her head and looks at him. "Don't worry, young master. I know my place. I treated you like I would my patient."

Noah cast a sidelong glance at her before closing his eyes. "Get my bath ready!"

Ellie nodded and smiled faintly. "All well, then I'll prepare bathwater for you to soak in."

Ellie went to the bathroom and filled the bath tub, even though she had not received any answer.

She came out as soon as the water was ready. Noah, on the other hand, looked to be sleeping. She attempted to rouse him up multiple times, but to no avail. Only a grimace and a soft grunt could be heard.

She sighed. "Please accept my apologies, young master. Allow me to help you wipe your body and change your clothes."

Ellie's lips were squeezed together. She stretched out a shaking palm and reluctantly proceeded to hold the man's shirt button, intending to take it off.

"Ellie, you're a doctor. You're only carrying out your duties. Don't be afraid." Ellie persuaded herself.

Just unbuttoning the shirt. But why is it similar to opening the gates of hell?

Sweat dripped from her brow and hands, and her fingers slid from the buttons.

Every time one of the buttons came undone, Ellie blushed as she glimpsed Noah's exotic skin. Her face became hot all of a sudden.

Damn it! It burned me!

She raised her eyes to see Noah, who had closed his eyes but appeared restless. That cold expression was not visible in his current state. He furrowed his brow, yet his charm had not dimmed in the least. In an instant, she is envious of Alexandra.

Even a two-faced woman like her had a happy life. Noah lavishes her with love and affection. She had a nice family, numerous friends, and a successful career.

Noah, on the other hand, despises her and makes her life miserable. He not only humiliated and treated her like trash, but he also never once looked at her gently and affectionately, but rather coldly.

What did she do wrong? Why did he despise her so much?

Is it because of their marriage? If it's about that, doesn't he know that this marriage was forced by his own mother?

Or does he despise her because she hinders his relationship with Alexandra? But didn't she never stop him from being with Alexandra? She embraced Noah's plan totally when he brought that woman to the house. She was willing to be Alexandra's personal maid, while Alexandra was the mistress of the house.

They were still lovey-dovey together and have never been separated except when Alexandra got a job out of the country or town, like today.

Really, Ellie didn't understand.

Ellie was shaken by her own thoughts. She shook her head, chasing all the devils away. Envy will only drag you down.

Skillfully, she wipes Noah clean and replaces his clothing. She put a warm towel across his forehead and dashed to the kitchen to cook porridge.

"Wake up for a moment, young Master. Eat this porridge and take your medicine." Ellie gently shook Noah's body, attempting to reawaken him; however, the guy simply grumbled and flung his arms around carelessly out of irritation.

She sighed. She swiftly lifted Noah's head, placed the drug in the man's mouth, and squeezed his nose. It happened swiftly, and Noah coughed many times as a result, while his eyes were still closed.

"Please forgive me, young master, but you must take medicine," Ellie later clarified. Whether Noah hears her or not, she explains.

Ellie's clothes were soaked in sweat once she finished giving Noah the medicine. Noah's head felt heavy, and she had been anxious.

She pushed his head back into the pillow and fanned her sweaty face. "I must call Ms. Alexandra."

Ellie left the room and dialed Alexandra's number. It did not, however, make it through. She then texted her and returned to the room.

All night, she stayed by his bedside. As the sky began to lighten, fatigue and sleepiness began to overtake Ellie.

She laid her head on her folded hands and fell asleep.

The sound of birds chirping awakens the owner of those thick eyelashes. He blinked a few times, then wrinkled his brows and glanced up.

He raised his hand and touched his forehead. Wet towel?

He grabbed the towel and pushed himself up with his elbows to sit up. When he peered at the left side of his bed, his motions came to a halt.

A woman sits on the floor and sleeps, using her hands as pillows.

Noah's brow wrinkled. "Ellie? She's looking after me all night?" He mumbled. Flashes of what had happened the night before began to resurface in his mind. He groaned as he stroked the bridge of his nose.

He locked his gaze on Ellie for a brief period. There was some hesitation about waking her up, but in the end...

"Hey! Get up! Get up! "He nudged her head with his fingertips.

Ellie drew her brows together and gently opened her eyes. She's surprised to see how bright the day is already, and... she's still in Noah's room!

She swung her head and met Noah's piercing gaze.

"Yo-young Master," Ellie stammered, rubbing her face forcefully before standing up. "I'm sorry, I fell asleep."

Noah leaned against the headboard, ignoring Ellie, who gulped down her saliva and dropped her head.

'Wait, he didn't snap at me?' Ellie pondered. She forced herself to glance at her "husband" and found no sign of rage but gentleness. 'Is there something wrong with my eyes?'

Ellie shakes her head. "Yo-young Master, please allow me to take your body temperature." Ellie broke the stillness by taking a thermometer off the bedside table. She bit her lower lip and glanced at Noah with nervousness.

"It, it'll be quick." There was no reaction from that man. Ellie mustered her courage and inserted the digital thermometer into Noah's ear.

"37.7 C., slightly warm," Ellie muttered as she replaced the thermometer on the nightstand. "I will prepare bathwater and breakfast for you, young master."

Ellie hurried to the bathroom to fill the bathtub and arrange all of his necessities. She returned to his room and stood a few meters from his bed.

"The bathtub and the necessities are ready, young master. I'm going to the kitchen…" Ellie paused. She seems to recall something. "I'll order the porridge from your favorite restaurant."

Ellie bowed before exiting the room. She patted her chest as she shut the door behind her. "Oh, Ellie, he's still feeble. Otherwise, he'll most likely kick you out of the mansion because of your carelessness. Fiuuh...."

From the corner of his eye, Noah kept watching his "wife" until she disappeared behind the door. He lowered his head, and the shadows of his eyelashes fell on his face, hiding the expression in his eyes. No one could tell what he was thinking, he just sat there and bent his leg.

Ellie was about to bring Noah's breakfast, when she saw him come down in his kimono. She hurriedly went to the dining room and arranged the table.

As she noticed his Adam apple going up and down as he sipped the juice she'd made, Ellie blushed and her heart pounded rapidly.

However, when she thought of all that this man had done, her heartbeat returned to normal.

"Young master, this is Jade & Pearl's signature porridge," Ellie said as she served Noah the hot porridge. "And here is your febrifuge."

Ellie took a step back with her head down and stood a few steps behind Noah, not daring to stand beside or in front of him.

"Don't show your face when I'm eating. You make me want to puke!" Noah's warning the first time she served the man food still made an impression on her, and she could never forget it.

"Helen has not returned yet?" Noah glanced at Ellie over his shoulder.

"Yes, young master. Today is her blood sugar check, so Mrs. Anderson is accompanying her to the hospital." Without looking up, Ellie answered.
