“I don’t remember any of that day. I only know what happened from what my uncle and other people told me about it. They were coming back from taking Brian to the hospital and it was November and the roads were wet. It wasn’t anyone’s fault. But I think he still blames himself.”
“That’s tough.” James kept his grip secure on Matt and didn’t let him move an inch. The dominance coming off in waves from James made him feel both safe and wanted at the same time, and it had a destructive effect on all the doubts he’d carried around about the two of them.
“Your uncle was decent for stepping up.”
“There wasn’t ever any hesitation from him,” Matt said proudly.
“Although,” James said with a smile coloring his voice in the dimmed room, “who could resist this much cuteness?”
