The urban legend

Hearing that question from Elias, everyone turned their heads towards Ferdinand waiting for his answer. It was clear that something was going on and it wasn't good. If it was so easy to take the resources from that place, why hadn't they done it?

"That's because of the legend..."

There was a dead silence in the room, and then Ferdinand pointed to the map at the red dot and said, "We took it upon ourselves to bring this whole horde of walkers to this part of town, our goal was to take the weapons and anything useful from that military camp."

Ferdinand pointed to the position of the blue dot on the map, which is where they are located in Fredericksburg, then he slid his finger back, made a big circle from the left and finally pointed his finger in a dense forest, and said, "In this place it is said that something scarier than a walker and kills every living thing that enters that area."

They all looked into each other's eyes with nervous expressions, this was much scarier than a horde of walkers. Airon seeing this knew that morale was dropping completely, but he did not intervene.

"When the military were in this shelter there was a lot of shooting, everyone pointing their guns in all directions and killing each other. But one escaped and said that whatever killed his platoon was a monster moving at great speed, it was faster, more flexible and stronger than they could imagine."

"The number of walkers in that place is less. In the past, although we were afraid we were able to approach the sides and take some guns and pistols from the soldiers farther away, but we did not dare to go in."

"Well, that's a very good tale."

Airon nodded without paying much attention to the man's words. If he really wanted him to believe his words, he should have mentioned walkers holding objects or climbing objects. However, are walkers faster and more flexible than normal walkers?

In this day and age, the rotting bodies of older walkers are really easy to deal with. Everyone at least in his community knew that, of course without considering the hordes.

But if there was one thing he had learned since he knew he was in this world, it was to learn and read the environment. The situation was unknown now, and he couldn't make an effective judgment on the current situation.

With all that in mind, Airon asked, "You said your group moved most of the walkers from this part of town to the red zone, then you mentioned that they came over to take weapons from the military shelter, how come that thing you say you didn't attack them? How many of your group has it killed for you to now warn us about that?"

"Most likely they are lying, if I were them and I came across a large group of people, I would scare them with those children's stories so they wouldn't take the important things from that place."

"In that case you wouldn't mention the weapons and the military shelter in the first place, would you?" Daryl looked at his brother, then made an important point.

Hearing these questions and arguments, Ferdinand said directly, "I'm really not lying, there is something in that camp and it really is different from the walkers. I know, this all sounds very crazy, but there really are several groups that died recklessly approaching that camp."

"Many groups of survivors have died in that place..."

The next words from that shoulder made Airon's eyes narrow, thinking of all the possibilities, but he soon steadied those thoughts and voiced the goal of this mission for everyone in general.

"Well, seeing that things are getting out of hand, if there really is a rabid bear in that shelter we will select the best men in our group and together with me we will scout the surroundings."

"If there is a walker variant of the ones I mentioned before we will eliminate it, if it is an animal we will also eliminate it. Once we clear the way, we will take all the resources while eliminating the walkers with bladed weapons, so we have to fight separately, and only that way our pressure will also be reduced."

"You all know that we have been through a lot during these last few days, now you belong to my people and rest assured that I will not send you to your death. Now we just have to eliminate the walkers, it is a relatively good area so there will be good space and it is estimated that there will be no more than 1000 walkers."

Hearing this number, everyone looked at each other with complicated eyes. "So many walkers..."

"Will it really be that simple to take those resources?"

Hearing this question, Airon said directly, "Yes, but we don't have to make noises as that will alert the walkers in the red zone of the map."

"The first group will be led by Merle, although he is wounded I am sure he can take out more walkers than many of you, so he will be a good leader."

"With that, the next group will be led by Daryl while a small group of people will move along with me to scout this terrain and actually see what lies in that place."

"It's not an animal..."

The appearance of this name made Airon's thoughts heavy, but he really tried to steady what he now had to do.

If soldiers died suddenly while escaping, groups of survivors died while entering that shelter and someone in Ferdinand's group managed to visualize what it was that inhabited that place, they focused their thoughts.

At first Airon thought that a chemical compound was released in that place, but then he dismissed that thought upon learning that there were people who did not die instantly upon stepping foot in that place.

But considering some factors, wouldn't this be a chemical compound that creates hallucinations? Otherwise, how could he explain that something faster than an average walker inhabits that place?

Airon knew that there were faster walkers in France and that the infection in their body spreads at a much faster rate than in the US.

"A more aggressive and fierce virus? Virus." Airon shook his head without anyone noticing, this situation is definitely not a normal thing at all.

Rubbing his forehead with a headache, Aron sighed and said, "So, there are two clear plans of all this that you should be aware of."

When everyone heard this, they looked at Airon in silence and waited for his words. They all trusted Airon, after all if they weren't picked up on the roads some of the people in this place would have died long ago.

"First, eliminate the walkers without making any noise. They must know that we will be in a sensitive place in this audience, a single noise would attract a horde of walkers. You have good leaders who will take care of all of you, there will be no problems."

"Secondly, once my group scouts that military camp, we will clear the place and load all the resources to the trucks. If we can take trucks, Humvee and tanks all that will be good for our group."

As he said that, Airon looked at Glenn next to him and said, "Don't be afraid, those who survive every day in our community will become stronger and stronger."

"Everyone go outside and wait outside."

Hearing this, everyone nodded and left the room including Ferdinand, leaving only the most trusted Airon people in the room.

"Do you think there's anything in that military shelter?"

Airon looked at Jon and then shook his head, so he explained, "It could be anything, but I don't want to be surprised so we'll do an initial scan so we don't suffer any losses."

"It could be anything, maybe it's a ten foot tall walker." Glenn said with a smile as he looked around at everyone.

"Your jokes are worse than Airon's..." Daryl muttered without anyone being able to hear him.

"This is so troubling..."

Although Airon doesn't want to admit it, possibly it's also a trap and he's heading straight into an ambush. Therefore, considering everything that could happen, he will be prepared.
