Chapter 1.39

Orion had no trouble busting Enzo out of that cell.

Enzo, still bewildered by his sudden rescue, couldn't help but ask, "Why are you helping me?" Orion didn't respond immediately, letting the silence linger for a while before finally saying, "Chaos. You see, I've heard you were left for dead by Damon Salvatore, who just happens to be living free as a bird about 6 miles away in Mystic Falls." Enzo's face twisted with anger as he muttered, "That bastard lived a free life while I suffered in this hellhole for years." Orion raised an eyebrow and asked, "So, do you want your revenge?" Enzo's eyes burned with determination as he replied, "Of course."

Orion discreetly placed a daylight ring on his finger, invoking an invisibility spell on Enzo to ensure no one would spot him. With Enzo hidden from view, they both returned to a motel. Orion got him a few blood bags to feed on and also instructed Cal to teach him about the new era.

Orion's phone rang just as he was about to enter his home. He answered the call, and a familiar voice on the other end immediately grabbed his attention.

"Orion, I trust you're in good health?" Klaus said with a touch of cheer in his voice.

"Klaus. What do you want?" Orion replied with a hint of exasperation.

"Nothing too taxing, I assure you. I merely require your presence at the Mikaelson Mansion. There's a matter of some importance I wish to discuss," Klaus said in his refined tone, laced with an underlying purpose.

"You know I'm not one of your sired hybrids. I don't owe you anything," Orion pointed out.

"True, you're your own man now. But old acquaintances can still be of use to each other, can't they?" Klaus suggested.

"What kind of importance are we talking about here, Klaus?" Orion inquired cautiously, still not committing to a decision.

Klaus's response was measured. "Let's just say it involves a delicate matter. I believe your unique skills could be of great assistance."

Orion mulled over Klaus's request momentarily, his fingers drumming lightly on his phone.

"Alright, Klaus, I'll be there in an hour."

—-------------------

The grand Mikaelson Mansion stood tall, and its doors swung open, revealing Elijah.

Orion greeted Elijah with a casual, "Hey, Elijah, nice to see you undaggered."

Elijah replied with a slight smirk, "It's a refreshing change, I must say."

Orion returned the smile and casually followed Elijah into the dining room,

As Orion entered the dining room, he was met with the unexpected presence of the Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan. Their immediate reaction was to lunge at him, ready to attack. However, before they could make a move, Elijah, in his classic composed manner, swiftly intervened, stopping them in their tracks.

Elijah moved quickly, grabbing Damon and pinning him against the wall. Meanwhile, Klaus, wearing a mischievous smirk, vamp-speeded over to Stefan, locking him in a headlock, dangerously close to snapping his neck.

With an air of casual arrogance, Klaus taunted, "Don't hurt the guest of honor; after all, he's the one who helped me reunite my family, which you took from me."

Orion's smirk persisted as he remarked, "I must admit, as much as I'd enjoy seeing these two get their asses handed to them, I'm guessing there's more to my invitation."

Klaus, his gaze fixed on Orion, responded with a knowing grin, "You're right. Elijah suggested we have you over for dinner to express our gratitude for your help in rescuing our family from these two troublemakers."

Orion, with a hint of curiosity, gestured toward Stefan and Dam, asking, "So, what's the deal with them being here?"

Klaus chuckled, a touch of amusement in his voice. "Ah, that, my friend, is also Elijah's doing. He's got this grand idea of working out some sort of peace treaty with those two."

Orion maintained his easy going demeanor, his smirk undiminished. "Well, I appreciate the invite, Klaus. I've never been one to turn down a good meal."

Klaus nodded in agreement. "You'll find our hospitality is legendary."

Damon, attempting to ease the tension, chimed in. "Oh, I'm sure it's unforgettable."

Stefan couldn't resist a sardonic comment. "Yeah, unforgettable in the way a nightmare is."

Klaus raised an eyebrow, amused by the Salvatores' attempts at humor. "Well, you two do have a way with words."

Elijah, the ever-diplomatic voice, interjected again, "Gentlemen, let's stay on topic."

Klaus, with a knowing smirk, chimed in as he made his way to the dining table. "Ah, yes, to enjoy a fine dinner and negotiate." He sat at the table where an array of delectable dishes awaited.

Orion lounged in his chair, casually sipping on the wine that had been poured for him, all the while taking in the spectacle of the ongoing argument between Klaus and Stefan. Their bickering had taken center stage, leaving a lull in the room.

Unnoticed by the warring pair, Elijah and Damon seized the moment to exit from the dining room discreetly.

Klaus, pushed to his limits by Stefan's defiance and disrespect, finally snapped. With a resigned frustration, he grabbed Stefan again and shoved him into the fireplace, where the flames roared to life.

Stefan's defiance was written all over him as he casually challenged Klaus, his voice tinged with a sense of acceptance. "You know, Go ahead and kill me; I've made peace with the idea."

Klaus, his patience wearing thin, decided to pull Stefan out of the fireplace, clearly annoyed. "Seems like you've lost your edge, mate. Where's that fiery fighter in you? The Ripper we all remember?"

Their scuffle was momentarily halted when Elijah and Damon returned, accompanied by the servant carrying a tray.

Klaus, looking genuinely puzzled, turned to his brother with a raised eyebrow. "Elijah, you're still hanging around?"

Elijah, always the epitome of good manners, maintained a measured tone as he replied, "Oh, Klaus, let's not forget our manners. We almost skipped dessert." Flourishingly, he uncovered the tray, revealing two shiny silver daggers.

Klaus, taken aback, questioned, "What's all this, then?"

Elijah's response remained steadfast. "What have you done? You see, I've learned not to put too much stock in your impulsive promises, Klaus. It's my time from now on."

Kol, making an unexpected entrance, added a touch of sibling banter. "Long time, brother."

Klaus, sensing the mounting threat, began to back away. Suddenly, Finn appeared and firmly grabbed a dagger and plunged it through Klaus's hand.

Klaus winced in pain, pleading with his brother, "Finn, don't!"

But there was no escape. As Klaus attempted to flee, he ran straight into Rebekah.

"Rebekah!" he cried out in desperation.

She retaliated with a swift dagger to his side; her face etched with resentment. "This is for our mother."

Rebekah removed the dagger, and Klaus fell back into Kol's arms, overpowered and incapacitated. Kol held him in check while the rest of the family dealt with their long-awaited vendetta. Elijah turned to Damo, Orion, and Stefan.

Elijah's voice held a hint of formality as he stated, "You're free to go. This is family business."

Orion hurriedly left the Mikaelson Mansion, distancing himself from the unfolding chaos. When he felt far enough away, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number. When the call connected, He smirked.

"Freya," he began, "how do you feel about a family reunion?"
