Chapter 31 : Killing spree

In the Salvatore mansion, Damon and Stefan were arguing about Damon wanting to keep him out of the Caroline kidnapping case because he wanted to settle everything by leaving his brother out of these problems with Elena.

Stefan appreciated that Damon was finally taking his position as a big brother seriously but he was much too protective and left him in the background while he wanted to stay by his big brother' side, he finally had the big brother he wanted but Damon wanted to manage everything himself.

 "You don't have to worry about that, Rose, Alaric and I have a plan so everything is fine, we'ill get Caroline back safe . Katherine is still lurking around so keep an eye on Elena. » Damon said patting Stefan on the shoulder.

 Stefan: You have a plan and you didn't even tell me about it !? JUST ONE OF THEIR BITE CAN KILL YOU.

 Damon: First of all, it's a legend and what's more, the full moon is in a few days. If they are Reasonable then we won't have to fight even if I'm already pissed.

Training Caroline was quite boring but I ended up taking my task seriously and now they kidnapped her so if they hurt this kid it could still be bloody.

 Stefan: Then let me help you. Caroline is Elena's friend, don't leave me out of it.

 "It'll be fixed soon little brother, relax…" Damon said and turned to leave but Stefan blocked his way.

 Stefan: You won't leave me out of this story.

 Damon: Jésus, Stefan !! You wanna help me? Very well, Rose was supposed to take care of Tyler but you' ll do the job very well with Alaric while she and I pick up Caroline. The whole point is to make people believe that Tyler has been kidnapped and that we could kill him at any time. Obviously, we won't do anything to Tyler...

 Stefan: I think Rose and Alaric will be able to take care of Tyler very well. I'll go with you to pick up Caroline…

 Damon: You're not helping me much little brother. They will be numerous and perhaps ready to attack us.

 Stefan: Then we'll fight, side by side. Do you think Harper could help us?

 Damon: Harper is on a trip with Bonnie and her mother, he took them to Salem for some wizarding stuff. It's just us and he's already warned me that he's not interested in these little intrigues and believe me, he's already done a lot for us.

 Stefan: What do you mean?

 Damon: You'll see. Maison gave me the meeting place, they have a camp in the forest and want us to exchange the stone with Caroline but Alaric and Rose will already have Tyler.

 Stefan: Alright, shall we go? 

 "Let me give Rose and Rick a call, they'll do what they have to do with Tyler and then we'll go see the big bad wolves..." Damon said while pouring himself a glass of whiskey.

Stefan : I've tried to contact Lexi but She doesn't seem to be available strangely...

Damon : It's precisely when you need her that she disappears, this boring blonde... 

 Later that evening, Damon and Stefan went to the meeting point in the forest. There was a camper in front of which Mason, Jules and Brady were as well as several pickup trucks with nearly 30 men and women armed with wooden stakes, machetes and other weapons that could injure or kill vampires.

 "You've prepared a charming welcoming committee for us. Where is the girl ?» Damon asked Mason as he walked forward.

 Mason: You'll get the girl but first I want the moonstone.

 Damon: I have to admit that this time you really pissed me off, Mason. Caroline is only 17 years old, she's still a child.

 Brady: She's a vampire.

 Damon: (at home) You were stupid enough to play a hostage game while forgetting that you have relatives in this town. Are you just stupid or do you also have the IQ of a Wolf ?

 Mason: What did you do, Damon ?

 Stefan: We have Tyler, free Caroline or he'll pay the price.

 Mason: You're Bluffing.

 Damon immediately dialed Rose's number and put everything on speaker. They heard Tyler's voice and upon realizing that his nephew had been involved, Mason became angry and his eyes turned gold.

 Damon: Free the girl or we kill him, it's up to you but first, I want to see her right away.

 Jules and Brady looked at each other and told Damon that he could go see Caroline under escort from Mason himself.

They entered the RV and Damon saw Caroline in tears in a cage like an animal, she had been tortured without Mason himself knowing.

When Caroline saw her mentor Damon, she tearfully begged him to get her out of there and he immediately broke the cage to get her out of there before looking at Mason meaningfully.

 Mason: I didn't know they tortured her.

 Damon was at the moment overcome by his murderous impulses and wanted to rip Mason's head off on the spot but Caroline was the priority and he didn't want to put Stefan in danger.

They went out with Caroline when Brady immediately knocked out Mason with a baseball bat.

 "Sorry but this stone is more precious than his dear nephew…" Brady said as Jules criticized him for his brutality.

One of Brady's men immediately aimed his flamethrower at Damon and Caroline while another fired a wooden bullet into Stefan's shoulder who was taken by surprise.

 Brady: Sorry but you and the blonde aren't going anywhere. Give us the moonstone and we promise you a quick death.

 Damon: Were you the one who tortured the little girl?

 Brady: Believe me, I really enjoyed it.

 Damon: Very good. (to Stefan) Can you move ?

 Stefan: *Argh* No problem, the bullet came out...

 Damon: (To Caroline) Ready for a new lesson ?

 " What… ?" Caroline asked in confusion as Damon threw her up so that she fell onto the roof of the camper behind them.

The guy with the flamethrower attacked Damon but he was an 800 year old vampire, he moved at a speed the wolves couldn't keep up with and right now Brady was serving as Damon's human shield against the flames.

He screamed in pain as Damon threw him at the camper where Caroline was, she immediately intercepted him to bite Brady hard in the neck and feed on his blood to regain her strength.

 Stefan also started to fight on his own, he broke the arm and then the neck of the closest guy before disappearing when the guy with the gun started shooting at him only to reappear behind him and break his neck.

Werewolves in their human form were strong and fast but not as vampires, especially in speed where they were largely dominated.

 Damon started a real massacre under the shocked eyes of Jules who saw him looking directly at her, she wanted to escape but he blocked her way, she tried to attack him but Damon was much stronger than her and broke her arm before biting her.

As he was about to kill Jules, he immediately turned around to catch a crossbow bolt fired at him before rushing forward to decapitate the shooter with a slap. He turned around and Jules was no longer there.

 The guy with the flamethrower tried to aim Caroline at you but she was already behind him and bit him violently.

One of the men behind her quickly headed towards her but she turned her victim who was shooting flames while screaming to plunge the attacker into the flames before disappearing and going to help Stefan who had killed two wolves before being cowardly stabbed by one of them in the back. 

 Damon was attacked by three men, he ripped out the hearts of the first two and forcibly tore off the arm of the third man who was holding a machete before biting him.

Caroline and Stefan were surrounded but Damon quickly arrived to kill the five men around them with a speed and brutality that shocked Stefan and Caroline.

Seeing that Damon was far too strong for them in their current form, the rest of the pack immediately fled.

 Damon: Are you okay ?

 Caroline:...

 Stefan: Several of them escaped...

 Damon: It doesn't matter, we're bringing Mason back with us. Stefan, you take Mason back to the mansion and I'll take Caroline home. 

 Caroline: I can go home alone, it's okay Damon.

 Damon: I don't remember asking your opinion. I come and that's it…

 They separated and Damon took Caroline home, he had never been invited in so he held her to talk to her about something.

Damon sincerely apologized for not arriving sooner to save her from her torturers and that if she had been kidnapped it was because of a stone he possessed. 

These guys locked Caroline in a cage before torturing her so when he saw Caroline crying to ask for his help, it did something to him.

He took Caroline in his arms and she cried because she was traumatized by what she had experienced in that cage.
