With just one word, George, who was about to turn Volcano Giant into an actual volcano immediately stopped.
His rationality returned in an instant, and the ambient temperature gradually returned to normal.
A hint of clarity flashed through George's eyes. Upon returning to normal, he surveyed his surroundings and immediately understood what had taken place.
George looked at Ol' Lasov who was covered in dust and said sincerely,
"I'm so sorry Ol' Rasov. I've caused you trouble."
Seeing that everything was finally over, Old Lasov heaved a sigh of relief.
He stood up and wiped his face briefly. Hearing George's apology, he quickly shook his head and said,
"It's not your fault, child."
At no point did Ol' Lasov think about blaming George. He looked at George with a gentle expression, then at Vanessa, who had been smiling all this while, with a scathing one.
"All I can say is, some people are too rude, so rude that it makes people wonder if their identity is a disguise."
Even when insulted like that, the smile on Vanessa's face didn't fade. Her gentle smile seemed to heal everyone who saw it.
However, the anger in Ol' Lasov's heart was not so easily appeased.
"Hmph!" Ol' Lasov turned his head and instructed his staff,
"The few of you, quickly get up and help clean up. We're waiving everyone's bills today."
The second half of the sentence was directed at the customers in the restaurant.
Upon hearing Ol' Lasov's order for everyone to leave, the customers also didn't hang around any longer and walked out of the door.
Before leaving, they didn't forget to bid George goodbye.
"We're leaving now, George."
"Bye George."
Like Ol' Rasov, none of these people held a shred of anger towards George.
Every crime had its perpetrator. They had no intention of blaming George for the terrible situation they got into.
Instead, all these people, subconsciously or consciously, glared at Vanessa in either dissatisfaction or anger.
The grudge had been cemented.
Vanessa wasn't the least bit bothered by all this. The unchanging smile on her face made Selia, who had been observing her all this while, if there was anything that could get her to stop smiling.
Her smile was pretty, it also became too much after a while.
Besides, Celia didn't know if her smile was genuine or if it meant something else.
Meanwhile, George was still saying goodbye to adventurers he was familiar with.
"That was fierce dude. I really wanna know, how did you become so powerful?."
"You just need to eat as much as me," George replied seriously.
Of course, everyone thought he was joking.
However, there were also people who believed him. After all, George's appetite was too abnormal. Yet, he did not become obese despite his gluttony.
Therefore, some of the smarter people present guessed that maybe George really was able convert food into energy and use it to become stronger.
The one who asked the question shrugged resignedly and gave up.
"Then forget it. I think I'd go bankrupt before I become stronger, even if I only ate one-tenth of what you eat."
Even if he did believe George's words, there was nothing he could do besides envy him.
After all, George's appetite was simply too terrifying. He could genuinely die from overeating if tried to eat as much as the young man.
Of course, there were also some who thought they could get lucky, and started to think about how they could start to eat like George.
If eating more could make them stronger, perhaps it was worth giving it a shot.
Although it wasn't possible to reach George's level immediately, they could take it slowly.
Some people were tempted, but they didn't show it.
Others tried to change the topic by downplaying George's words as a joke.
"Hahaha, if you want to imitate George, I advise you to forget it."
"That's right. One person's way of getting stronger may not work for another."
"I'm going now, bye George!"
"See you next time!"
"Bye."
After bidding farewell to these people, George turned to look at the instigator of this chaos.
"May I know why you are looking for me?"
Looking at Vanessa and Clayton, George was 100% certain that he had never seen them before.
Neither he nor Celia had any contact with the Divine Temple in their day to day activities.
Just then, Celia walked over to George with Siluca in her arms.
"Is this about the red-eyed monsters?"
Vanessa turned her head to look atCelia, and was inwardly very surprised to see the well-behaved Siluca in the young mage's arms.
A newborn dragon, and a pure-blooded one at that.
It seemed like a lot had happened to these two while they were away.
Curious about what had happened to George and Selia, Vanessa nodded and admitted frankly,
"That's right."
Her gaze fell on Celia, and information about her flashed through Vanessa's mind.
This woman was born and raised alongside George. She was his confidant and the person he trusted the most.
Celia, the Mage Adept.
"She looks smarter than I thought."
Looking at Celia, Vanessa briefly explained,
"The appearance of this kind of monster means that something big is about to happen…"
"An Apostle of the Devil."
Celia interrupted her just as Vanessa was about to explain the severity of the matter.
Clayton turned his head and stared at Celia, hard.
According to their intel, these two shouldn't know that name.
George quietly stepped between Clayton and Celia.
It was as if he was saying if Clayton wanted to lay a hand on Celia, he'd have to get past him first.
The somewhat harmonious atmosphere became tense again.
Vanessa looked at Celia and nodded with a smile, as if she didn't feel a thing.
"You know even this? Could it be that you've already ran into one?"
George was completely unaware of all this, so he handed things off to Celia.
The latter admitted, "I sensed one, but never saw it in person."
Sensed one? George's expression belied nothing, but inwardly, he lapsed into thought. He suddenly understood something.
At the same time, Vanessa looked back and forth between George and Celia and responded, still smiling,
"So that's how it is. Sure enough, coming here was the right thing to do."
"I don't think so," said Ol' Lasov's voice piped up from the sidelines.
Sensing the hostility in his tone, Vanessa's smile did not falter. Instead , she turned to the dwarf and bowed slightly in apology.
Then, she looked back at George and Selia and said,
"Let's go somewhere else. This isn't the place to talk."
"Fine. Then we're off, too, Ol' Lasov."
"Mm."
