Chen Jing lay on her back on the gurney, the vibrations of its progress constantly transmitting from beneath her. The snow-white ceiling of the corridor was slightly dazzling, with two elderly nurses pushing the gurney beside her, their expressions serious, not uttering a word. Now and then, she could hear the voices of patients or their relatives passing by. The air whooshed by her ears with a faint sound.
As the gurney passed an intersection, a group of young people wearing white coats and intern badges walked out. A man wearing glasses, also in a white coat, led the group. They were chatting and laughing, and the atmosphere seemed very relaxed.
"Xiao Lu, do you want to go to Huaying Trade after we get off? I saw some nice pants there yesterday, and they were reasonably priced."
"Sure, let's go together later."
"I want to go too."
