Trudging Through Time in the Apocalypse

This is a gag novel of trash! READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL! This is a book about an apocalypse where everyone has a system. The MC is a teen boy who seems to have a mental ailment or two (you'll see). Our setting is a typical modern times apocalypse (Because yeah). It is in an alternate reality of Earth however so there will be some differences! Anyways I hope you all enjoy my novel! [This is my first attempt at (sort of seriously) writing a novel so feedback is welcome.]

004 - This is the Plan.

Sitting down we listened to George recount his story.

"So I was sitting around in my classroom, bunch of annoying fucks that lot is. Just a bunch a freshman too riled up with hormones to coherently speak, and oh god you would be wrong if you thought that the thought of possible embarrassment would stop them from shutting up.

Anyway, I was talking to this cutie in my class and she was like 'blah blah blah, something something' you know what? I don't really remember what she was talking about. I was distracted..."

I cut him off right there.

"Hold on George. We don't need every detail of your five minutes of class. Especially that bit about being 'distracted' by your cutie friend or whatever."

*Cough*

"Er, um... Of course. A-And I wasn't distracted by her! I swear! Yeah-h, she's just another dumb freshie, even if she is cute, pretty..."

At that point I just started blanking this kid out, he obviously had no information that useful to us right now. Just who was the most popular in his grade, the baddest babes in the school, all the way down to who was with who gossip. So while he did that I went over my own thoughts.

'If we were to think of the school and how it is now that gives us what, about 4,000 people in this building at least? Assuming a large portion are now... well... turned, let's say 80 percent, that's 3200 zombs to get through. The school has it's chain link fence around it so that should keep most wandering zombies out. The gates might be open though so there may be zombies leaving or entering. What about the rest of the city? Is it only on the island? Did it spread to the mainland? Dammit! I don't have enough info for all this!'

*Ding*

"Bro... are you good? You look like you've been constipated for the last 10 years."

I look up and see everyone looking at me,a bit unnerved, including George who had apparently finished his story.

"If it's about the girls I'm sorry man. I'll shut up about it real quick."

"No. No, your fine. I'm sorry everyone."

'Great job idiot! Now everyone probably thinks you're some severe character that can't deal with shit.'

Everyone seems fine with my apology, just a little more wary of me and my reactions. Some even give me a bit more of a berth just cause of that 'little mistake' on my part.

With that I walk off into the corner to separate from the group and give me more time to myself. Observing the room I see some others have taken to the same strategy but for another reason entirely. They seem to be huddled up and in shambles emotionally.

'I may have judged them to be smart but... they're still just kids. They know they have to find solutions and even offered some but I guess they just don't have the will to carry out anything right now.'

Though there are a few who seem to be taking it better than others. Comforting the others. Mainly Sylvie comforting them, but the ones who didn't fall apart should be recognized too. Seems like George, Dan, and someone else who's just sitting around. Though George seemed to be getting closer as he kept talking.

'Better keep an eye out to see if anyone gets too emotional.'

*Reminder to host that he has new items to check in system*

'Oh yeah, there was a ding earlier'

Further focusing on my new skill I wonder what its about.

[Intimidation Lvl.1 - You can be off putting with just your presence alone. Too bad you scared your only acquaintances too you jerk.]

'Hey! I didn't mean too! The world's falling apart and you want to say that I'M scary?'

*Ding!*

*Yes, the host acted in a most callous and calculative way since the beginning of this apocalypse.*

'Wow. I didn't think of it like that. But still! I will not tolerate this stain to my pride! Hmph! But still it may be helpful later, and what's done IS done... even if it is a slight upon my character.'

I toy around with my interface for a bit more before closing it down. Checking to see if my measly stats were still measly and all that before I close it, and surprisingly enough I see Dan coming over to me.

"Hey Dan, what's up." I say, trying to put away my annoyance at the system a little better.

"Nothing, just the apocalypse if that counts for anything."

That got a little chuckle out of us.

"You know... George is still feeling a little guilty about the whole 'stern face' thing. What was with that anyway?"

"Ah, I'm just a bit worried about it all. How are we gonna survive?"

"We will, you'll make it happen. Oh great and mighty leader!"

"PFFT! What did you call me?!"

"You heard me, Your Majesty!"

"Oi, you keep talking like that and its gonna get to my head!"

"That just wouldn't do my Liege, but surely a great leader such as yourself wouldn't fall so far!"

We just ended up bursting out laughing and everyone that heard us gave some chuckles too. You know what they say, 'The apocalypse sure sucks but you also sure do make fast friends!' Nah they don't. But they should! Heheh I've got such a way with words. In the end, like all good things our little bout of laughter had to end and I stand up to move a bit. Talking a bit to some others and get another glimpse of Sylvie being the kind soul she is.

I walk over to the window.

The world is still burning.

The sun is setting.

We are all bathed in orange light.

And we're also all just a little bit more ready to take on this apocalypse.
