Chapter 14

“When will he be able to resume classes?” the dean said.

“The doctor says he can start back to school on Monday,” Philip said. “However, he may not be able to participate in sports for a while longer. His father kicked him rather savagely in the groin, so his testicles are badly swollen, and he’s still quite sore in that area.”

Dean Lloyd produced another set of forms, filled them out, and gave them to Philip to sign. In turn, Philip wrote a check for tuition for the balance of the school year. Steve now had an appointment to go over his schedule as soon as school began on Monday.

I told the dean that I would have a computer company contact him within a few days to survey the library’s needs and make some recommendations. We also arranged to walk through the library in the near future to discuss improvements to the facility. We shook hands on it, and Philip and I left.

When we were safely in the car and on the way home, Philip grinned and said, “That’s how deals are made.”
