Tricking The Vampire King

‘I became the Vampire King’s chamberlain!’ ‘He thinks I’m a man!?’ ___ The evening that Reina Gomez experienced one of the biggest betrayals in her life was the day her life came to an end. Helping her elder sister, a three times failed author, in her research for her next project had turned out to be the cause of her demise. The efforts she had put in to teach her sister everything that she knew was not repaid with gratitude. The day of the new book’s release brought sorrow to Reina who had high expectations from the project that she had lent her support in. No matter how many times she refreshed the novel’s site, the result was the same. “Where the heck is the BL tag!?” She cried out for answers but to no avail. Her sister who had learned everything there is to know about BL for the new book had done something unexpected. ‘She wrote a frickin vanilla Vampire love story instead!’ She sniffled while finding solace in the one thing that never disappointed her. Her blurry eyes fell on the cover of the novel and her scowl deepened. The petite woman with cotton-candy colored hair surrounded by three breathtakingly handsome men was not something that she was hoping for. ‘Stupid reverse harem.’ She sneered while chugging the contents of the bottle. Her eyes shut that night only to awaken in a different room the next morning. From a drunken daze to panic at what had taken place, Reina soon realized what was wrong. The images flashing across her eyes displayed a life that was not her own. ‘Memories…’ She deciphered the meaning of these images. Staring at the new face in the mirror, Reina blinked those icy blue eyes as a name formed in her mind. ‘Rein Melk… The Vampire King’s chamberlain.’ She repeated the identity of the new body she was in. Was it not enough that she was in a different world, in a different body? She now had to pretend to be the King’s loyal servant. ‘A manservant at that!’ She grimaced as her new life seemed too hard to live. Tricking the Vampire King never was an easy task but doing so while possessing jumbled memories of this body was way harder. __ As days passed, Reina began to adjust to the world, living in the body of Rein Melk. However, she began noticing something strange. ‘Why do these men seem so familiar?’ She wondered while gawking at the three handsome men she was sure to have seen somewhere in the past. The pretty lady with pink hair further brought up a sense of deja vu. ‘Wait…!’ Her eyes widened when it finally clicked. __ With a large chunk of her memories still missing, will she be able to discover everything about the body she possessed? A nameless cannon fodder in the story her sister wrote, was that her fate now? Was the identity of Rein Melk as simple as a servant concealing her true gender or was there more at play here? Numerous questions with answers yet to be obtained. This was the life of Rein Melk, the one tricking the Vampire King.

Doctor Bundt's Rare Ability - Revealed

Reina's coughing fit had not subsided which was making the poor old man anxious about the young lad's deteriorating condition.

Finding a bottle of water fallen on the bed next to Rein, he picked it up and hurriedly handed it over to his patient.

Reina was still shocked by his earlier words but the irritated throat made her put aside her prejudices as she accepted the bottle.

This was the same bottle that she had used to fill in the water from the enchanted fountain which gave her assurance that this perverted man had not done something to it.

Gulping the water down, she felt a familiar soothing sensation wash over her just like it had done this morning.

The physician returned to his seat and waited for the young man to regain his composure before he could try and convince him once again.

While he waited for the perfect opportunity to speak up, Reina was trying to calm her mind.

It was just as the physician had said.

She had been a pure maiden in her previous world who had first devoted her life to her job then to her thriving online life.

While working as a zoologist, she had no time to mingle with her colleagues who were also equally busy with their jobs.

Later when she gave everything up after those traumatizing incidents and became a recluse, the only man she was seeing was someone she paid to have therapy sessions with.

They had a strictly professional relationship where he came a few times a week and checked in on her and studied her slow progress towards getting better.

Once he was gone, she had her online life to live which was also where she spent most of her time.

Despite being a diehard fan of the BL genre which was pretty graphic, she was an untainted maiden in real life.

Even if she could be called a degenerate with a filthy and perverse mind, she had been untouched physically.

This was why she had almost choked earlier because Doctor Bundt's words were accurate.

She indeed was pure but she had no idea about Rein.

'Did you also die a poor virgin, dear Rein?' She sighed while questioning her predecessor who couldn't answer her as she wasn't around anymore.

While she was wallowing in remorse for the two who had lost their lives, still pure from the corruption of their respective worlds, a strange and unhinging question popped up in her mind.

'H-how did he know about that?' She narrowed her eyes at the old physician while her legs pressed together subconsciously.

Even if Rein was still pure just like she had been in her old world, how would this old man know about it?

He had just taken a look at her before coming to that conclusion which was making her suspect that he was a pervert all over again.

Her guarded expression was so evident that Doctor Bundt had deciphered what might be on the young vampire's mind without having to be told anything.

"Your blood. I can sense it." He clamored to reveal how he had figured out that Rein was pure.

As though he was trying to prove his words, he took a deep breath in and closed his eyes.

"A tinge of poison still remains in your body but compared to yesterday, it somehow seems to have faded by a lot overnight." He started out strong but ended with a doubtful mutter.

Yesterday, when he had come to check on this young man for the first time, his bloodstream was saturated with the poison he had consumed.

However, he had not revealed the truth about how he had diagnosed the young man and instead pointed out the other telltale signs of poisoning which were visible to the naked eye.

In truth, Doctor Bundt had the rare ability to sense the flow and the purity of blood with a single glance.

Using this ability which not many possessed, he could sense any creature, even the tiniest of the bugs to the mightiest of beings as long as there was blood flowing through their veins.

Vampires were already sensitive to the scent of blood but his ability took that sensory function up a notch.

This ability coupled with his immense knowledge in the medical field made him the perfect candidate to serve as the King's personal physician.

When he had diagnosed Rein yesterday, his bloodstream had a large quantity of poison present in it.

The poison combined in the blood made it impossible for him to discern anything else about the young man's blood and his aim at that time was to just solve the main problem at hand.

However, today, he was able to sense that the poison had diminished by a large proportion even without consuming any medicine which was surely astonishing to him.

'Maybe, this young man has the ability to heal faster than others?' He wondered whether this was also the cause for Rein not being affected by Lady Amaira's creation.

Vampires had rapid healing but Rein's pace was quite extraordinary especially considering how the poison that he had consumed came from a skilled apothecary, a poison-maker.

'That explains how he was able to survive even when the amount of poison in his blood was too high.' He added and felt that he had deciphered the mystery of Rein's survival.

Sadly, he would be wrong as this theory was flawed.

Rein had died due to the poisoning and Reina now had possession of this body whose ability was manipulation of perception and not rapid healing like Doctor Bundt had guessed it to be.

While he was still curious to know if healing was truly the young man's ability, Reina knew just what had caused this sudden change in her body.

'The water…' She stared at the bottle still in her hands as that was the only thing she had consumed other than the sandwich from last night.

As she possessed Rein's memories, she knew that the water from the fountain was enchanted and could cleanse the impurities present in anyone's body.

From her memories, she had seen how the others who had consumed the water for the very first time also saw a difference in their bodies.

Therefore, she was sure that the change that Doctor Bundt had mentioned was due to the water from the enchanted fountain.

'Definitely going back for more!' She declared with enthusiasm, as getting rid of that poisonous residue still floating around in her bloodstream was a task of the highest priority to her.

Doctor Bundt, who was unaware of the thoughts in the young man's head, picked up from where he had left off.

Are you missing our King? Let's hope to see him soon~!
