First Trial (pt 3)

Miriam and the zombie were dumbfounded. Neither one could come up with anything to say as their minds were reeling from the sheer stupidity of the statement, "....it talks."

Miriam started to facepalm over and over again thinking, "Why. Are. All. Boys. So. Dumb!!" Each word was punctuated with a resounding 'Smack!' which of course no body could hear as systems don't have faces.

The zombie wasn't doing much better, he couldn't believe that someone could be arrogant enough to think they were the only ones able to speak. "I'm pretty confident in myself." He mused internally, "But this is a whole new level."

Will was about to die from embarrassment. His face flushed red and he couldn't look anywhere but down, as if he wanted the earth to open up and swallow him.

After a few moments the zombie spoke again.

"Yes I speak...is that uncommon where you come from?" He was genuinely puzzled, this was the first non zombie he'd met so he didn't know a lot about them.

"Uncommon??" Will said quietly. "I guess you could say that." He didn't really know what else to say.

" I cant possibly tell him that his kind doesn't exist on my world right?? That would just piss him off right?" He was practically shouting at Miriam for some help, but she was still busy trying to break the world record for most number of facepalms in one minute and didn't hear him.

"Oh..." The zombie looked slightly puzzled but shaking his head decided to continue with his original plan.

"Regardless I would like to ask you some questions before I eat you." A confident smile spread across his face, like him eating William was a foregone conclusion. "You don't mind that right?"

This woke Will up and got him thinking about the right things again. He was focused on the two colored orbs he could see in the zombies body. He had a guess as to what was what but he needed Miriam's confirmation.

Trying to buy a little time for her to calm down he replied, " I don't mind but, I also don't have a lot of time so keep it brief okay?"

The zombie nodded its head and then began.

"I really only have two questions. First are there any more of your kind near by?"

Will shook his head no, because as far as he knew he was the only one of his kind in the universe. As well as he didn't know if anyone was dropped near him so either way it was the truth.

"Good, good, good." The zombie seemed very excited about the fact that Will was alone. Which was suspicious and raised a few alarm bells in Will's mind.

He began to get a sense that something was wrong but couldn't put his finger on exactly what.

"My second question," The zombie continued beaming from ear to ear. "Is everyone from your world as stupid as you?"

Once he said this he started laughing evilly as his smile twisted into one of malice and hunger.

"I could smell the potent bloodline power in your veins, eating you will do wonders for my advancement!"

The zombie continued laughing as Will was trying to figure out why he was so confident until he realized...

"I cant move my feet."

"Of course you cant fool!" The zombie shouted derisively, "My blessing is minor nature control, which allows me to control plant life within a certain distance. I have been wrapping roots around your ankles since the moment I saw you."

Will felt his heart clench, "If only I had paid more attention!" He cried inwardly. "Now im gonna be zombie chow before I even get the chance to do anything!"

Will was frustrated, with himself more than the zombie. The zombie was just using what he could to survive, and Will was stupid enough to fall for it.

He didn't blame anyone but himself, and he determined that if he made it out of this he would be smarter about things in the future.

"Time to dine!!" The zombie shouted as he leaped towards Will.

"Not so fast..." Will replied looking into the zombies eyes.

"Shut up!" The zombie screamed, "Your body will nourish me!" He had abandoned all caution as he was confident that Will couldn't escape from his blessing powers.

Will simply looked at the zombie as if he were a fool. Sighing he said, "And here I thought you were smart."

The zombie had jumped from 6 feet away and was descending towards Will with his jaws wide open. Disgusting sharp yellow teeth and rotting saliva could be seen in the zombies mouth. And his arms were outstretched like he wanted to capture him.

Will could see everything happening due to his senses being boosted by his blood line and he made a quick decision.

When the zombie was only about 2 feet away Will took action.

'Bzzzzz, Crackle!'

'Puchi!'

"Impos..ssi.." The zombie didn't finish. Kind of hard to talk with a fist through your face.

Will had activated two of his skills when the zombie got close enough. Dragon claw and Thunder cowl.

The first caused 2 inch long nails to grow from the tips of his fingers, and silver scales to grow covering the back of his hand from finger tip to just below the wrist.

Then the thunder cowl covered him from head to toe, greatly increasing his speed and adding thunder damage to his skill. Small arch's of lightning could be seen traveling up and down his body.

Once that was done he simply thrust his hand towards the zombies head, all his fingers pointing forward like his arm was a spear, and his hand was the point.

He didn't know exactly what to expect but he hoped it would at least give him enough space to activate his long distance attack spell. But little did he know that this little attack of his would simply end the zombies life.

He flung the zombies body away from him making a disgusting squelching pop once his hand left the head cavity. The foul purple blood was dripping from his arm pooling near his feet.

He held his hand up and observed a small blue stone he'd taken from the zombies skull. He didn't know what it did but he had instinctively grabbed it when his hand pierced into the zombies skull.

"I wonder what this is?" he thought, at this time the system voice finally came back.

'Ding!'

"Killed 1 zombie

+40% lvl suppression

+20% soul gem acquired

+60 exp

+17 copper coins"

"Well done Will." Will was startled, he hadn't heard Miriam's voice for a minute so her sudden interjection shook him little.

"I don't think you could have done any better, even if I had guided you. That was perfect."

Will felt good at the praise but then paused...

"And where the fetch were you!" he cried out, venting his frustration and fear on her. He may have looked calm but he had never been more scared in his life.

"I was busy trying not to die from embarrassment you but hole!! Or did you forget your opening line?!"

He couldn't really come up with a good retort to that, as his opening line had truly been embarrassing.

"Cough...yes well...moving on." He couldn't come up with the face to really argue with her. His skin wasn't that thick yet, and he still wanted to be on good terms with her lest she become an annoyance in the future.

"What do you suggest I do now?" Will was at a loss, he didn't see any other zombies near him and he didn't want to run around the forest looking for them just in case he met a group to big to handle.

After his experience with this zombie he wasn't really afraid of lone enemies, but groups still freaked him out a good deal.

"What I suggest is for you to actually use the soul stone you grabbed." Miriam's voice was thick with exasperation. First his stupid opening line, then his reckless disregard for his surroundings.

"I'm gonna have my work cut out for me." She thought, sighing deeply to herself.

Will didn't want to disturb her with any more annoying questions since she seemed PO'ed as it is. So he pondered to himself as to the best way to use the stone in his hand.

He remembered the zombie talking about eating him, "I wonder if this was the kind of thing he was after?" Once this thought crossed his mind he felt is was as good as any so why the heck not?

Then he tossed it up in the air and in one swift movement gulped it down.

A couple of moments went by and he didn't feel anything, so he began to wonder if he did something wrong when...

"YOU FETCHING IDIOT!!!!" Miriam screamed in his head causing a massive headache and a wave of panic to flood through him.

"Why, Wha..." It was at this moment that he felt it, a fire started to spread through his body starting in his stomach. He couldn't be sure what was happening but it didn't seem to be good.

"You had best hope your body can handle it because if not...your dead!"
