This world... even though it was so strange  and different... even though it was so frightening, it was also so amazing. All the different races of beings, many being similar to humans, while others looked nothing close to humanoid. Some beings were very beautiful to look upon, while many looked extremely terrifying with their fangs, claws, and spikes. They all varied from different colors of skin, eyes, and hair, many being colors that were considered unnatural in a human. Another big difference that stood out was their sizes... while most human adults ranged on average from five to six and a half feet tall or so, these other species varied to as small as a few  inches, while others stood easily over fifteen feet tall.

Some even had more than two eyes, arms, and legs, though the majority of the people were humanoid, having two eyes and two arms and legs.

There was all manner of speech, though there appeared to be some sort of common language that most beings seemed to all speak and understand, which enabled them to communicate with each other. It seemed as if I could also speak and understand this common language, though I could not understand the other sounds that came from some of the other beings. Some of them spoke in languages that sounded similar to a foreign human language... some made hissing and whispery sounds, while others made an odd assortment of grunts, growls, clicks, squeaks, whistles, and so on.

The fear I had first felt was now greatly lessened, though perhaps if they had been watching me closely since the beginning they might have noticed that I was afraid. But when I stepped out of the fish market, and saw all the different races of beings, I had a strong feeling that told me not to show that I was afraid, or I would be in danger.

I looked towards up ahead of us, and saw that there was a large crowd of people, with several other humans. I began to head over to them,  pulling my sister along.

It seemed to be a party of some sort. The other humans were talking and laughing. I came closer, trying to listen in and see what was going on.

To my surprise, from what I heard and learned, the humans that I saw around me were not humans at all. Instead, they were students of a school that was intended to teach the races of nonhuman beings about humans and how to act and appear human. And it so happened, that they were celebrating their school's assignment... which was to appear human. They were to wear a human appearance out openly among the non humans for a certain period of time. I wasnt sure, but from what I gathered, they were suppose to constantly and consistently maintain their human form without showing any sign of their actual race, and that they were suppose to do this for about a week.

'Ahh..!' I thought, as understanding dawned on me. 'So that's why the other non human species didn't seem surprised to see me or my sister walking around them openly.'

I realized how lucky me and my sister were... for from what I had learned, humans were not very well liked or welcomed by the other races, and many viewed humans as a source of food.

If we had come to this place at any other time, it was very likely that we would be attacked or even eaten.

I felt quite glad that I was able to openly walk among these other races, without fear of being killed.
