Chapter 1: The Genesis

The travailers

It was on Saturday,a day of various activities

for people in OLILE, a town nestling in

sprawling valley amidst tall buildings. On that

particular morning,in spite of bright sunshine

and various activities and noises coming

from different directions of works, Obinna

was still in his bed covered with two blanket

and a duvet snoring as one whose CHI has

already forgotten in the spirit world.

Unfortunately for him, he rolled down from

his bed and fall face_down on the floor, his

face smashing the hot excrement of his

younger sis, Chinenye by her name whom

has only seen four planting seasons. She

had tried waking Obinna to assist her to

open the toilet door, since her mother has

gone to the market along with ikenna who is

only four years older than Obinna but already

in his 200l in Obafemi awolowo's university

and studying geological science. While

Obinna is still in his SS2 class with ten

classes ahead of her younger sister. She

couldn't help but to off load the burden just

beside the direction of Obi's bed.

For some seconds,Obinna was lost in

thought about the ugly predicament that just

befallen him that late morning, but for some

moments he prayed silently that the incident

should be a dream and not reality but as his

fate may have it ,those prayers didn't left his

room, he got up realising it wasn't a dream

after_all and seeing his younger sister

mopping at his newly makeup face by her

excreta didn't know what to do at that

minutes.

"Chinenye"! He thundered at her."What have you done?! "Bro...am sorry"Chinenye apologise with little

trembling in her tone "I tried waking you up to

assist me but to no avail...u know that my

hands can't reach the door handle so that is

why I..I..I.."will you keep quiet there!" Still

trying to avoid some particles of Nonye's

excrement not to enter his mouth.

"Am sorry bro Obi, I won't do it again" she

pleaded. "Sorry for yourself!" In anger he got

up swiftly as though he forgot something

and dashed inside the bathroom to dry clean

himself.

After some minutes inside the bathroom,he

came out and went straight to his room just

to found out that the excreta was still there,

he wanted his anger ride over him one more

time but he recall what his father use to tell

him "if you want to be head,start by serving

others". Immediately the anger subsided. Then he cleaned the whole place.

After some hours, Ugochinyere trooped into the house and Chinenye rushed as though they were a whistle that was brown to start off the race. She embraced her mom and both did the same and she brought out meat-pie from her bag and gave it to her and she ate. While Ikenna was already in the kitchen preparing for what her mother will use to cook that night. "Obinna!" He shouted. Where is your bro Chinenye? "In his room reading" she responded. "Go and tell him to come over here in the kitchen and help me with these ditches' ' he ordered her so she left immediately but still munching the meat-pie as she went on to deliver the message.

She dashed instantly into Obi's room. "Chinenye!!" Obinna shouted; ``How many times will I tell you that before you enter into someone's room you first knock on the door?"

"Am sorry...bro Ikenna said that I should call you to help him wash the dishes in the kitchen "..

"Sorry for yourself "(he replied back in anger) "go and tell him that I am coming".

"Ok bro" she left immediately banging the door unintentionally as this got Obinna more angrier but he can't do anything now that their mother is back.

After they had eaten their dinner,Mr Chibuokem decided to break the silence. "Mama Ikenna" he called his wife by that name often, "I hope your day in the market went well"

"Yes oooh..."as she replied with smiles all over her face. "Thank God for giving an angel like you as my wife, what would I have done without you"? "Stop flattering me with those words honey, you know you are all that every woman would want as a husband "

He smiled, but still maintained his composure before his children.

"Nne m, I want to take Obinna with me tomorrow and go to our construction site to view what still remains and how the work has progressed .'' Chibuokem is a very well known certified construction engineer at NEXT-INNOVATION_GROUP OF COMPANY.

He earns more than any other engineers in that company because of his loyalty and accountability at work.

"C'mon honey, don't be silly by taking permissions from me to take Obinna with you, besides they are out children, you don't have to take any permission from me, take him tomorrow is Sunday he will be less busy after tomorrow service at church so it's better he keeps himself busy than been idol at home"

"It's ok honey, thank you" he turned to Obinna

"Obi... prepare yourself for tomorrow we shall be leaving by 3pm"

"Ok dad" Obinna replied with a smile in his heart that he will be going to that construction site he had been longing for and with the intention of taking some pictures near tractors and bulldozers with his head covered with helmet, in order to show off to his classmates whom he has been boasting about that his father is an engineer and he too will be like him in future. With all these thoughts going on in his mind, less did he know that everyone has retired to their bed to sleep. So he dashed out immediately and headed to his room too.
