A request

With his father free again, Calvin doubled the securities around his wife, always worrying and made her always watch where she was going and who she was with. He might have even ended up scaring her, but he believed it was worth it, she would have to be careful herself. He needed her safe!

But as time passed, he realized that the man was not doing anything against them. Instead he was busy clearing his tarnished name. He even gained sympathy from a lot of important people, broadening his connections. More time passed and he still didn't make any move towards them. It was as if he left them alone, but instead of feeling relief, Calvin felt anxious. What if he had a plan? What if he was going to do something when he least expected? He could not just come back and turn into a saint.

Feeling uneasy one day, he called him.

"Never did I expect you would call me one day." The man said, sounding amused.

At least they had something in common there.
