Chapter 81: Inevitable Future

In the dead of night, with only three people sitting together in one bench, they were indeed talking something that should be confidential around their side

In front of both Shun and Sephiria who was cuddled together cause of the night cold wind, Cedric however were starting to contemplate how to start his story

On reason for this was that the girl that he was targeting was here and the boy who was with her was also here trying to find answers on why Sephiria was treated by him like that

With a sighed Cedric begun to speak

"As you can tell I've known something about Sephiria more than you can ever imagine, so I'm gonna ask you Shun Kurosaki... Do you believe that there is a future ahead of you and do you believe in time travel?" Asked Cedric sternly

Hearing this Shun suddenly paused as he started his reply with a slight cough

"Well I do believe in time travel... After all I've watch many related movies that are just like them... You know like <back to the Future, avengers endgame, jumanji the original movie..?> And other related movies of such" he replied

"Movie?... You know what?.... Nevermind" said Cedric before he started contemplating again

With that he restarted the conversation

"The fact is there is a theory that says when you go back to the past and did something major there, them the future might be different" stated Cedric

"True! That is what portrayed in back to the Future" agreed Shun

"Well all I can say about that theory is bullshit, or a load of crap"

"!!!"

"Firstly and foremost when you go back to the past then such reality is already different and your original world of timeline has ended for you... Meaning I'm saying is that in a single line of the past where everything started, I believe that there is a major event in time that it was blundered by our ancestors resulting to different branches of the future"

"Like a tree?" Asked Shun

"Yes like a tree,but it is something that always happened that it's disturbing" answered Cedric

"What do you mean?" Asked Shun once more

"Meaning is that all branches of the future has the same end, no matter what you do or try to do" said Cedric

Hearing that Shun then started to nod as if he understood everything, after all such thought process isnt something new to him, I'm fact if he told Cedric that there is a world wherein everything he said was true and has more knowledge on such topic, then perhaps cedric would be in a state of shock

"You must be thinking that I'm crazy aren't you?" asked Cedric

"Huh?!?! Not really... Belove when I tell you this, I've heard worst" answered Shun

Of course in agreement to this Sephiria also nodded for the confirmation

"The end of every future I saw is one and the same... The world will one day be covered in darkness... More than that is already forbidden" said Cedric

"Darkness? You mean night? Or something else asked Shun

"Something else, all I can say is many died during that time" answered Cedric

With that the whole vicinity suddenly turned quiet as the cold wind suddenly brushed pass them

"Alright tell me what about Sephiria? Why are treating her like that?" Asked Shun

With it Cedric answered seriously

"As I have said, Sephiria's too trusting and depending or leaning unto someone is her main strength, but that too is something like her greatest weakness of all"

With that Sephiria who was covered in blanket suddenly flinched

"Main of all her good natured self was used against her in the future in fact she was killed cause of her trait like that" said Cedric

With that Shun started to ask

"Cedric! Just what is your relationship to that future Sephiria in different timeline?"

"Relationship? I think many kind actually, I was her husband in one future, her fiancee, her lover, her guard, her friend, he benefactor, her older brother, her advisor and many more" said Cedric

Hearing that Shun suddenly talked once more

"Based on how many you have said, I'm predicting that all of those are in different timelines yes?"

"Well yeah, for some reason what meant to happen always happen... At one point when she was traveling with a made up group that was formed with money to research outside or something, they were attacked by bandits and the guy she trusted as her friend suddenly sacrificed her to save itself from harm"

This time Shun could see Cedric starting to clench his fist

"At her capture, they treated her like a plaything, they beat her up... Abused her, get passed on to different bandits, and raped her till morning... When of course I've learned of this incident I immediately rushed in to save her only to see that she was already broke when I found her... Not long after her rescue cause of trauma she hung herself" said Cedric

Hearing that shun could feel that Sephiria was hiding tight to Shun while shaking as if she can imagine her state and suffering during that time

"During that timeline I was her fiancee, there was another one wherein I was her husband and when she went ahead with all her confidants with her, I saw everything on how her confidants who she treated as a friend at that time backstabbed her... Reason jealousy, she had her killed on the run and pierced her heart with an arrow thus killing her in the process... But during those times I was still oblivious of my ability that's why my actions then was at most mediocre" said Cedric

Again shun could feel a hand tightening it's grip

"On another occasion where I was her friend, she and I had decided to adventure together of course... Even though it Hurts I saw her go into relationship with another guy in our party, she trusted him so much and leaned on him... Of course there is nothing wrong with and the first few years was nice, they were even married off as a happy couple but after the year were the famine was so worse in the kingdom, that basted in order to actually live a peaceful life had sold Sephiria to a slave merchant of another country... Just like bandits they treated her like an object, in the end she died cause of sorrow and suicide after she was bought by another cruel owner who abuse it's slaves" said Cedric as he gritted his teeth

This time shun could feel a bit of wet tears on his side, but he continued to listen to Cedric

"And based on her relationship on all of those possible future is that she trusted people so much that she already leaned on them and thought of them as good?"

"Yes... I know there was nothing wrong with her traits so I tried everything I could to change her future since after all I was affiliated with her... I wanted her to stand firm all strong while not being closely attached to anyone... I tried to be rough, mocking, and even other stuff just to steel her heart a little, unfortunately all of that didn't work as it only broke her more inside"

Hearing that Shun nodded before placing his palm on top of Sephiria and started carrassing her head

"You know what? In all those timelines, I've repeatedly met those people all over again even though it's unnecessary, but even If I loathe them I still kept quiet....but this timeline is different from them" said Cedric

"Different" asked Shun

"Yes both you and Wendy suddenly came into this timeline that wasn't even there in the future... Meaning your presence is something unique"

This time however the atmosphere suddenly became heavier as Cedric was applying pressure on Shun without affecting Sephiria

This only shows how much proficient Cedric was on using his power

"I still don't know what will happen into the future with you along with her but if you ever betray her, remember this I will kill you" threatened Cedric

Of course Shun never even have an idea of betraying Sephiria at all then suddenly he recalled something like he never even flinched when Shun kept mentioning all of this modern stuffs in the past

"Cedric!!!" Called out Shun

With that the pressure suddenly disappeared as Shun raised his too

"What?" Asked Cedric

"Tell me but how come you seem to know my words or my self? It feel like you've already known about me... What you said that I was unique, was that you never expected that a person you knew would be together with a girl who's future you were trying to change... So tell me how much do you know about me?" Asked Shun

Of course Cedric simply stared at him before replying confidently

"When I was an adventurer together with Sephiria we somehow saw it"

"Saw it?"

"We saw the world tree... It was so big and majestic that it was a sight for sore eyes... Along it's wide area, there was a town for tourist and during that stay I myself found a treasure inside the trees holes" stated Cedric

"It was some kind of water that came from the tree itself, and when I drank it... It was then I saw everything... The darkness consumes the world and no one can stop it until the gods did something and created legends among their own stories... 10 people approximately ten of them went up against it... But until then that was all i can see, of course what I thought about it on that time was the future was a mess" said Cedric

Hearing that Shun became even more curious about such information of ten people, legend in their own stories are going up against the deep darkness

So in that case he started asking it to the system if possible, the system could explain it more clearly than Cedric, but the reply it received made Shun certain that this was a major plot reveal

With that Shun's goal of finding such answers in the future through adventuring has been solidified even more, with it he will start adventuring after graduating with Sephiria and by then he'll cut ties from her and travel alone

"The world tree... Where is it located" asked Shun

"Tree... The tree is located on the kingdom at the East... You can find it there since it's tall and all, but I can assure you, they will treat you the best if you can somehow make their people be indepted to you" said Cedric

"Is that so? Then that's interesting" exclaimed Shun

With it another cold wind passed by them which signaled Cedric to go

With a stretch Cedric soon glanced back at Sephiria before looking away and returning to his room, with that only both Shun and Sephiria were left on the bench

Of course there was a lot of information that he needed to process since Cedric was revealing his point of view

With a pat in the head Shun proceeded to stand up only to be stopped by Sephiria pulling down his shirt

Seeing that Shun glanced at Sephiria only to hear a question

"You'll not betray nor leave me right?"

Hearing that Shun was certain that Sephiria must have been in shock after hearing her future in different timelines, all of them leads to her death thus she was really scared and shocked this night

With that in mind Shun then contemplated on how to console her, thus he crouched down on her level and faced her worried and wet face due to tears

In turn he smiled at her while brushing her cheeks and patting her head

"You can count on me, I'll never leave you"

Due to that decision Shun then erased his decision of cutting ties with Sephiria in the future, by instead staying by her side if needed
