"Why are you here again?" Scarecrow, standing on the train, watched as Reno approached with purpose, trailed by two T-Dolls, and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in surprise.
"Just fulfilling our contract. We're still responsible for clearing railway debris and escorting cargo, right?" Reno greeted Vector and M1911 as they boarded the train.
However, this time, Reno and his companions weren't wearing protective suits, nor were they carrying powered armor. It didn't seem like they were here to help with the clean up mission.
While the two Dolls and Reno were armed underneath their coats, Scarecrow wasn't concerned by their weapons. What concerned her was that during Reno's previous escort missions, they were heavily armed, but now they didn't even have powered armor. It seemed like Reno was just here to hitch a ride again!
Listening to Reno's explanation, Scarecrow rolled her eyes, thinking to herself that she'd be crazy to believe him. "But how did you know I was about to depart?"
In all honesty, while the factory where Reno and his group were staying wasn't far from the nearby SF factory area, there was still a large expanse of ruins in between. Coupled with the poor visibility due to the contaminated environment, there was no reason for them to know about her movements here.
"Of course, we saw it. With all the hustle and bustle of transporting goods back and forth, even a fool would know that your train is about to depart." Pointing to the SF units busy loading cargo onto the train cars, Reno shrugged.
Scarecrow looked north towards the few large buildings in the factory area that hadn't collapsed yet, and her eyes widened. Indeed, if one stood at such a vantage point, it would be easy to see the general situation on the Sangvis Ferri's side.
Even if they couldn't make out specific figures, just seeing the Sangvis personnel moving back and forth would give away what they were up to.
Moreover, with the train's massive size and the long line of cargo containers attached to it, it would be hard to miss.
"Get to the point, what do you want this time?" Scarecrow sighed, wondering if Reno had become attached to them.
"Just hitching a ride again. All the goods transported here are raw materials, right? The train will be empty on the way back, so why not help me out by buying some things on the way back?" Reno replied casually.
"Tsk, why didn't you prepare ahead when you came here?" Scarecrow shook her head in exasperation. Why didn't he think of this from the start?
"Well, we didn't expect the situation here to be so suitable for us. We initially planned to bring back all the equipment from those factories, but now it's unnecessary. So, we need to bring back some necessities, or else those few alcoholics at home might rebel," Reno explained.
Of course, it wouldn't be that extreme, but Reno just said it casually. However, complaints from home every day were inevitable.
"Hmph, if those bigwigs find out that you've been manufacturing illegal Dolls, they might send someone after you." Hearing Reno's words, Scarecrow immediately thought of Simonov and A-91 at Reno's house, as well as the Jaeger that had been there all along.
This guy not only appropriated SF's property but also directly modified the Jaeger's communication access protocols, rendering her unable to establish direct contact with the Jaeger without the Jaeger's consent.
Such a complex communication method was something only the military could achieve, and even the Statesec's Dolls might not be outfitted for it.
And since the Jaeger had already been tampered with by Reno, there was no reason for him to leave the other T-Dolls untouched.
The actions and emotional states of the Dolls in his house were so different from normal Griffin T-Dolls that they no longer resembled Dolls at first glance.
If it weren't for M1911 and Vector holding their imprinted weapons, she wouldn't believe that these two dolld were the same as those IOP-produced dolls.
"Heh, let those guys come after me then." Changing the Root protocol and removing some of its restrictions was something many Doll traffickers did. Illegal Dolls were plentiful everywhere in the world, and even if he had only twenty or so Dolls, he wouldn't be the one targeted if trouble arose.
A fearless guy.
Looking at Reno's indifferent expression, Scarecrow thought to herself, and then turned back to command the humanoids to speed up the loading process.
"Commander, is it just the two of us this time?" M1911 scratched her head, asking Reno who was checking the purchase list in the car.
"Hmm? Yeah, the others are busy cleaning the dormitories, so I brought you two along since you're relatively free," Reno replied.
Hearing Reno's words, M1911 couldn't help but smirk. Was she free? She was clearly cleaning the windows earlier! But she stopped halfway to wipe her hands, and as a result, Reno mistook her for being idle.
Meanwhile, Vector, upon hearing Reno's words, simply shut down, lowering her head and murmuring something quietly.
On Scarwcrow's side, after commanding the automaton dolls to speed up the loading process, the SF train departed in just a few minutes. It was now noon, and they would probably reach the port city by evening.
Once they got there, they could use the truck they left behind in the port city to return and then easily purchase the necessary living supplies.
Moreover, their relationship with the merchants on the street was quite good. After all, they were regular customers, and occasionally putting in extra work was no big deal.
As the train traveled smoothly along the way, Reno and his companions jumped off the train at the port city station and immediately found the truck they had left behind. They drove straight to New Odessa.
By the time they arrived in the city, the sky had already darkened, but the shops on the street had not yet closed. Naturally, Reno didn't waste any time and drove the truck to the corner of the commercial street, heading straight for the shops to start shopping.
Mainly, they purchased some food ingredients and daily necessities. Of course, they couldn't forget about the seeds. Seeds were something that could always be obtained, especially in a time when it was rare to find land suitable for planting crops.
As for large-scale soilless cultivation farms, those were things only the wealthy could afford to dabble in. Ordinary people could only plant a few lettuce and radish seeds at home. Who had the money to set up such a massive planting base?
"Commander, when we came over just now, it seemed like a lot of vehicles were leaving the city heading towards the main Sangvis Ferri base's direction," M1911 furrowed her brows, saying to Reno who was carrying a large stack of flour.
"Vehicles? Isn't that normal? Isn't Sangvis Ferri's transport team running every day?"
"But I saw many people on those vehicles were fully armed, and there were T-Dolls too."
"Hmm?"
