Invitation Letters

Wen Lin hopped over to him excitedly and held his hands. "Come Ah Yu, let's go in. I've been trying to assimilate for so long but there's been no progress anyways."

Wen Yu laughed and flicked her slightly moist forehead. She was taller so he had to stretch a bit. "How could it be so simple to advance? Take your time, there's no rush."

Wen Lin had remarkable talent for assimilation and was already at the middle stage of the Yellow Phase. She was only five yet had achieved such a feat. Truly remarkable.

Wen Yu thought to his own situation and sighed.

If only...

Wen Fei Fei was in the middle of a conversation with some ambassadors from Lingxiu Military Academy of the Capital Planet when the two round, white faced, buns walked in hand in hand.

Even though Xie Zhang Wei has been dead for years, his existence in the people's hearts was still strong hence they were certain benefits she still obtained to this day.

Lingxiu Military Academy was one of the three best military Academies of the Yang Federation and sat comfortably at the top spot. They started their enrollment process when the kids were five years old.

After a year of training, the kids were required to participate in an examination which would determine if they were fully accepted into the school or not.

If they passed the test, the kids were accepted into the Academy but if they failed, they could only be returned to their homes. A year wasted.

It was said that the examination was harsh. A method to weed out the weak as they only accepted the best of the best. Lingxiu's position as the top military school was no joke.

Wen Fei Fei stared at her kids. Wen Lin had SS rank spirit potential so she was sure that she would be able to withstand the harsh conditions and pass, but Wen Yu...

Her heart felt hollow. After he was brought back with her to Planet Xin, she'd taken him to the hospital to run tests. He was originally of C rank potential but the trailers had tried to kill him by flooding his spirit sea.

This had led to a clash which injured his meridians and now he could barely assimilate. Even not falling sick was a problem as he was prone to get sick at the littlest exposure to anything.

He was her child so she'd already noticed his particular interest in Mechas. It was borderline obsessive.

She stared at the invitation letters on the marble table. Even if Wen Yu could never be able to operate a Mecha, maybe he could join other professions that enabled him to come in contact with Mechas.

A Mecha engineer for example. He'd have to be armed to the teeth in protective gear to prevent him from imploding but, at least, he would still be in contact with Mechas.

She thanked the ambassadors and saw them out before walking back to her kids.

Wen Yu stared at his mother. "What were they here for mom?"

Wen Fei Fei smiled as she grabbed the invitations and waved. "To invite you both to Lingxiu Military Academy to participate in the enrollment process."

The kids' eyes widened and Wen Lin directly started jumping from excitement.

"Lingxiu? As in the Lingxiu?"

Wen Fei Fei nodded as she stroked Wen Lin's head.

Wen Yu was excited too before reality came crashing down on him. Of course he'd heard of Lingxiu. It was hard not to hear about it in this world.

It was a top military school! It was said that graduates from this Academy didn't need to start from the scratch when they were enrolled in the army as they were well sought after.

It was also the academy that raised champions for the Intra Federal Future Cadets Competition. Winners from this competition get to participate in the Inter Federal Competition with the champions from the other Federations.

It was a really grand event and also an excuse for each Federation to show off their talented younger generations to the others.

His father was also an alumni of Lingxiu Military Academy. Not just that, he was also a grand champion of the Future Cadets Competition. Both on the intra and inter Federal levels.

He was said to have the best records in history and to this day over thirty years later, no one has been able to beat his record!

How remarkable! Wen Yu's heart itched and he desperately wished he could participate.

But that was exactly what it was. A wish. He was basically trash that couldn't even be exposed to the atmosphere for long without falling sick. That was the exact reason his mom had an artificial garden installed.

He deflated instantly.

Wen Fei Fei stared at her son. How could she not know what he was thinking? He was one of his father's biggest fans. If only Zhang Wei was alive.

But Alas.

She beckoned him over. "Yu'er, even if you wouldn't be able to operate a Mecha, you could still do other things that gives you access to a Mecha," She said gently.

"Other things?" Wen Yu's milky voice asked.

"Hmm. Like, you know, becoming a Mecha engineer?"

Wen Yu's eyes widened. Of course! Why didn't he think of this? Becoming a Mecha engineer was not bad at all! He would be covered in protective gear and not just that, he wouldn't need to stay outside all the time.

He would be working in a lab so he would not get sick. Even if he did, he had his pills!

Although he never really liked studying in his former world, it was different in this universe. Learning was AI controlled and you could have the lectures transmitted directly to your brain using a device known as a light brain.

The only requirement was to have outstanding comprehensive abilities and quick thinking process. He would admit that he wasn't a quick thinker and that as a young master then, he never really had to worry about anything,

But things were different now. In the world of the strong it's either you were strong like the rest or stepping stone for the rest.

Being a military Mecha engineer was even harsher. You'd also need to have fast hands as you could be deployed in a war and during wars, accidents were a constant so a fast engineer was needed to quickly repair the soldiers' Mechas and have them up and running for re-deployment.

Who knows, he might even be able to create a Mecha that people of spirit potential C rank and below could operate!

'Ah, if only wishes were horses,' He thought as he kissed his mom and quickly rushed up the stairs to research in his room.

Wen Fei Fei and Wen Lin who were left behind to stare as his little butt trudged up the stairs: '....'
