(9) Permanently damaging relationship

Lucas saw a familiar figure making a ruckus in the hall, as he walked towards the play zone. 

It was Levon. 

This time around, Lucas could acutely sense Levon's rank. 

'So he was an F rank awakener. With my poor perception, it was hard to even sense that. Sigh...The past host did increase his strength only by using potions and medicine that cost a fortune.' 

However, there was no such weakness present in the current Lucas. 

Without any hesitation, Lucas decided to not come in contact with Levon. 

According to the villain system, the protagonist would receive external help in moments of desperation. Especially against villains like Lucas.

'Nevertheless, there is a need to stop him. If because of him something happens and the adoption gets canceled, it would be quite disappointing. The protagonist is the biggest threat from the beginning after all.' Lucas's eyes darted to Levon sharply. 

According to the normal trend, something should happen soon — hence, Lucas watched closely, wanting to see the event in person before leaving. 

"Why does Syuzia have to be adopted? She is my friend and I want to stay together with her!" 

The caretaker appeared strict, while partially speechless, "Don't be so unreasonable. An orphanage is a place where children get adopted, it's not a get-together with friends."

"Please, sister! I will do as you say if you let Syuzia stay!" Levon played cute with his handsome face, instantly making the caretaker close her mouth. 

Lucas cursed seeing this: 'Stupid women, are you really getting enchanted by a 14-year-old boy? Freaking virgin! And single!' 

Where did all professionalism go away?! 

Lucas wanted to give this caretaker a good lesson on jobs. 

As Levon tried speaking again, suddenly the sound of high heels rang out in the hall. 

As Lucas expected, soon a woman in her twenties walked into the hall hearing the ruckus raised by Levon. 

She had slender legs, black stockings, and illusive blue hair. Her calm face gave out the presence of maturation.

'....and here she comes.' Lucas was not surprised in the slightest, he just sat on one of the couches, watching while his presence was hidden. 

"Head madam!" The caretaker greeted Courtney, the head of the caretakers. 

Seeing Levon, Courtney smiled and showed an amiable appearance. But Lucas was 100℅ sure that was not how she treated others. 

"What happened? Causing such a scene in the hall like this" Courtney showed her dissatisfaction. 

The caretaker began explaining rapidly, spewing out words like bullets. 

"So someone wants to adopt Syuzia? Do they know of her back story?" Courtney questioned.

"Most likely not." The caretaker said with an uncertain tone. 

"Hahaha, then there is nothing to worry about it, no? No one would want to be with a murderer...no a mass murderer." Courtney stated with certainty. 

Levon was someone who showed extraordinary talent, certainly someone who would become a figurehead in the future. Hence the orphanage treated him with extra care, wanting to make a name for itself along the way in the future.

Levon did not appear convinced even after hearing Courtney's words. He was not able to hear the conversation between Lucas and Syuzia, as she had sensed his presence and deployed a mana barrier sneakily. 

"Don't worry. I will talk to the director." Courtney said, seeing Levon's expression. 

Only after hearing this, did Levon feel a sense of accomplishment internally. 

"Sigh...." Lucas didn't stay anymore and moved back to Syuzia. 

Lucas didn't know who else would barge into this matter. Things might get more complicated if he wasted a lot of time here. 

'I have to finish the adoption fast. In the worst-case scenario, I will just kidnap Syuzia later on. Rules and laws are to be broken in the first place.' Lucas resolved himself. 

'Let's break off Syuzia and Levon's relationship permanently just in case. It would be annoying if their relationship deepened in the future.' 

'I am going to her father, so I have the right to take part in Syuzia's relationship, right? Well, I am just joking.' Lucas's eyes narrowed showing his wicked thoughts. 

Without gathering any attention, Lucas stealthily left the entrance hall. 

Searching for a minute, Lucas found Syuzia still sitting on the bench in the garden. This time around, he could sense her rank too, which was rank F, just like Levon's. 

Syuzia's head turned to Lucas hearing the footsteps. Her cold expression broke into a smile instantly, it was hard to notice any changes in her expression, but Lucas could acutely sense this slight change. 

'...E rank perception is no joke.' Lucas smiled in response too. 

'Still, it would be kind of sad if she were to die or be taken away from me. Though I am going to use her, she is still my property, right? As I thought, I should really think of a way to kill Levon quickly.' 

The best solution would be to take away the female lead role from Syuzia, however, it would take a lot of time. He could only do everything in his power to take care of her until his villain aura increased. 

'...Well, I am greedy toward the villain points I will receive once that happens too. So there is that.' Lucas became slightly obsessed with villain points, seeing what he could do with them. 

Sitting beside Syuzia, Lucas started a simple conversation, talking about the environment of the orphanage. 

After a while, Lucas naturally stated a question.

"Is the kid named Levon your friend?" 

"No." An answer delivered with a flat voice. 

"I see, but he was claiming that you are his friends before the caretakers. Saying that he didn't want you to be adopted. For some reason, the caretakers are supporting him too." 

Hearing this, a frown appeared on Syuzia's face for the first time. She was also aware that the caretaker gave special treatment to Levon.

"....is he an annoyance?" Syuzia asked with a sharp tone.

"Kind of, now the head caretaker will be getting in the way of your adoption, just because of his preaching. Well, don't worry, I will do what I can." Lucas spoke reassuringly. 

"Should I kill him?" Some dangerous words left Syuzia's mouth, her personal emotions were mixed in it too.

Lucas softly caressed Syuzia's head, "I will adopt you no matter what. Don't worry about this small stuff, you're my daughter after all."

"...Yes, Daddy," Syuzia answered in a small voice. 

Lucas's eyes shone brightly. 

Syuzia was really into it, she enjoyed Lucas's patting like it was the most pleasurable thing in the world. This abnormal growth of the relationship was surprising, even for Lucas.
