6. Let me be of assistance

"Indeed," Anna uttered, the realization dawning on her that she actually didn't like bangs or short hair.

It was the real Anna's taste.

"I'm beautiful," Anna looked away from the mirror and turned to Wei Yan, accepting her change in taste just as she had accepted the dress she picked.

It seemed like some things were going to change about her, but the New Anna wouldn't agree to some of the changes.

Anna wouldn't be as naive as the Old Anna.

"Thank you, Wei Yan," Anna then said.

However, Wei Yan's attention seemed to be placed somewhere else.

"Master," Wei Yan then uttered before lowering her head to bow.

"Wei Yan," George, who had just arrived, acknowledged her greeting with a simple utterance, indicating that she could now stand straight.

Anna shifted her gaze from Wei Yan to the man who appeared to be walking deeper into the room.

However, Anna's expression conveyed annoyance towards him.

Anna frowned without acknowledging his presence.

"What if I was naked, Master George?" Anna suddenly asked, catching George off guard.

George's face turned white, realizing that he hadn't thought of knocking before entering.

George had just opened the bathroom door when he didn't find Anna where he expected her to be.

"I'm sorry, Anna," George quickly apologized.

"I was just too excited to see you. Please forgive me," he added, bowing his head and then raising it to gauge her reaction.

However, Anna's expression remained blank.

She looked tired and disheveled, prompting George to step closer to her.

"You look gorgeous, Anna," George stated sincerely before taking her hand and gently kissing her knuckles.

This action caught Anna's interest.

Her lips curved into a slight smile.

"Wei Yan helped me a lot," Anna mentioned, as if George wasn't already aware.

"I'm glad she did a great job," George's smile remained gentle as he cherished the moment of gazing at Anna.

George eventually snapped out of his reverie and turned his attention to the door.

"I've arranged a wheelchair for you, so you can move around while sitting," George said, appearing somewhat nervous.

Anna understood the reason behind his nervousness.

Anna couldn't help but recall the memories of the original Anna  trashing the bouquet that George had gotten for her after she received a nomination award.

It was George's thoughtful gift, but she had yelled at him and accused him of stalking her.

Anna averted her gaze from George.

'Why did he save the real Anna when she was so rude to him?' The new Anna pondered within her heart.

Anna suddenly felt the urge to cry, even though she couldn't pinpoint a specific reason.

"Do you want to try it out?" George asked when Anna responded with silence.

"I'd love to," Anna finally spoke, her voice breaking the quietude.

Wei Yan stood beside Anna with a smile on her face, almost as though she was programmed to keep smiling, but it was simply the way she had been trained to work.

George bent down and lifted Anna in a princess-style hold, making sure her gown was properly arranged.

He then walked over to the wheelchair and gently seated her, adjusting her legs to rest comfortably on the footrest.

After ensuring Anna was settled comfortably, George straightened up and let out a sigh.

"Now that you're ready, let's have breakfast," George suggested.

Anna responded with a smile and observed as George moved to the back of the wheelchair, holding onto the push handles.

In the next moment, Anna was being wheeled out of the bathroom with George guiding her.

Although Anna had many questions buzzing in her mind, she recognized that now wasn't the appropriate time to inundate George with inquiries.

Finally leaving the room after a considerable time, Anna was taken to the dining room.

The maids had prepared a delightful spread for both their Master and Madam, and as they settled at the table, the maids attentively served them.

George arranged her to be positioned comfortably near the table while he settled across from her.

The dining table wasn't extensive, only accommodating eight chairs.

Once the maids had completed their tasks, George motioned for Anna to begin eating, but she remained motionless.

Anna appeared frail and feeble.

"Are you feeling alright, Anna?" George asked, his tone laced with concern.

George seemed prepared to reach out and touch her if Anna didn't respond.

Although Anna acknowledged that her current vulnerability was out of character for her, she felt remorseful for the old Anna's treatment of a generous man like George.

This remorse drove Anna to a point where she almost wanted to punish herself for the past mistakes by causing her present discomfort.

"I can't eat," Anna admitted softly, speaking more to herself, yet her words reached George's ears.

"I apologize for being so ignorant," George chuckled lightly, almost as if he had embarrassed himself.

George then rose from his chair and walked around the table to sit beside her.

"I'll help you," George asserted. "Believe me, Anna, no matter how hard you try to push me away, I'm determined to assist you in getting back on your feet. No matter what challenges we face, I'll be there for you." The unwavering determination in George's eyes emphasized the sincerity of his words.

Anna nodded in response to George's heartfelt statement.

Although she felt incredibly weak in her current state, she knew that once she regained her abilities, she would strive to rebuild her strength.

Anna refused to allow herself to remain helpless.

George deftly picked up the chopsticks and selected a slice of egg, bringing it closer to Anna's mouth.

"Here, take a bite," George suggested gently.

His voice carried such a soothing tone that just hearing it brought comfort to Anna.

"I wish I could feed myself," Anna replied with a hint of frustration.

"I understand that you might not want me hovering, but I implore you, Anna, please allow me to assist you."

Anna averted her gaze. "I hate feeling like a burden. I truly wish I could..."

"You were in a coma for four years, Anna. Four years!" George lowered his hand slightly, his tone tinged with a mix of fatigue and earnestness. "How could you consider yourself a burden when I patiently waited for you to wake up? And even if you were a burden, I'd willingly carry that burden as long as it means you're safe, healthy, and... alive."

"Why?" Anna questioned, her expression still impassive despite his heartfelt words.

George fell silent for a moment, as if searching within himself for the reasons behind his unwavering commitment and determination to help and save Anna.

Finally, with his head bowed slightly, George spoke, "I can't explain why I'm doing this. I can't fathom how I'd feel if I stood by idly, knowing I could make a difference. So, please, Anna, let me be of assistance to you."

George's calm demeanor was indeed tested, but he managed to maintain it and successfully convey his sincerity to Anna.

Even though Anna responded with silence and didn't offer any immediate answer, George picked up the chopsticks once again and made another attempt.

This time, Anna opened her mouth and accepted the food he offered.
