Enemy Or Savior

For once, Liu Xinyu didn't try to argue with Yiyi. She closed her eyes and started her meditating with inhale and exhale. She wasn't someone easily fazed in the face of adversity. She might have been a bring frantic earlier but it was only because she felt loneliness like never before. And facing the familiar faces of her parents but with their unfamiliar behaviors, she was really feeling heartbroken.

But once she listened to the advice of the female ghost around her, she realized that there was no point in fretting over her situation. It did not even matter where she was. Shouldn't she be more concerned about how she was gonna go back home? There was no need to feel sad about the unfamiliarity and indifference she felt around her 'young' parents, they didn't know her. It was still three years before she was born and her parents were not even married at this point.

Wait! Did they even know each other at this point?

"Here are the clothes," Yi Qin came running back as soon as he could. He was worried that if she stayed in those wet clothes any longer, it would really not end well.

Liu Xinyu didn't say anything and just took the clothes to the bathroom. She dried her hair, changed her clothes, and came out to sit on the hospital bed where a nurse was waiting for her. Looking at the wet bandage around her ankle, the nurse started nagging which Liu Xinyu purposely didn't pay attention to. It's not that she was being rude, she simply didn't think that the nurse had anything new to say to her that she hadn't heard before.

Being a good child, she still took it upon herself to offer a sweet smile to the nurse and said, "Thank you for help, sister! I will be more careful from now on."

Seeing her well-behaved appearance, the nurse's heart melted. Especially now that Liu Xinyu had changed out of her wet clothes and changed her disheveled look from earlier, she managed to showcase the strong points of her appearance, including her high cheekbones, full lips, and well-defined jawline.

Her dark black eyes were able to evoke a certain feeling of captivation once she looked at someone so intently. Her smooth, flawless complexion was a little pale because of the illness but it only added a bit of fragility to her beauty.

The thing about beautiful people was that they were always entitled to certain privileges. For instance, people like the nurse before her had a very soft spot for such beautiful people who were also willing to admit their mistakes and seemed so well-behaved too.

The nurse even took out a candy that she often used to coax the little kids and offered it to Liu Xinyu, "Eat this and get well soon!"

"Yes, sister! Thank you for the candy!"

Even Yi Qin was left staring at the turn of events unfolding right in front of his eyes. He was like... What just happened? Who was he? Where was he? What kind of a spell that was? He also wanted to learn!

"I brought you some chicken congee," said Yi Qin once the nurse left. He put a table on the bed and placed the chicken congee's bowl on it. "Fortunately, it's still hot. Eat this first and I'll ask the doctor to give you something to prevent you from getting a cold again. Why did you even go out?"

"Should I answer or should I eat?" asked Liu Xinyu.

"Eat," replied Yi Qin and sat down on the side with a thoughtful look. "How did you really know my birthday?"

"A little ghost told me," was Liu Xinyu's reply as she ate the congee in an unhurried manner.

On her side, Yiyi waved her hands, "Hey! Don't blame the innocent ghosts. My community refuses to take on this blame! I repeat! We refuse!"

Liu Xinyu was unbothered as she continued to eat like she couldn't hear Yiyi's complaints from beside her. It was more like a fly buzzing beside her ear that she so wished to swat away right now. Sadly, she couldn't do it.

After being startled, Yi Qin laughed, "A little ghost? At least, say something believable!"

Liu Xinyu shrugged her shoulders indifferently, "You either believe what I say or it stays a mystery to you forever. It's up to you."

Yi Qin frowned when he heard that as he realized that he couldn't get an answer out of her. He wanted to ask something more but before he could, his mobile phone's ringtone caught his attention. He took it out of his backpack and answered the call, "Ge, what is it?" He listened to the other side for a while in silence before replying, "Okay. I'll come home. There is no need for you to come and get me."

After hanging up, he looked at Liu Xinyu whose eyes seemed to be popping out of the sockets once she saw the 'mobile phone' in his hands. Yi Qin was very proud to see this. It's not like you could see just anyone carrying these mobile phones around these days. He certainly had something to show off about this.

"I have to leave. I'll come to see you tomorrow. Take care of yourself," said Yi Qin before leaving.

"Ghostie!" called out Liu Xinyu.

"Now, you want to speak to me?" retorted Yiyi in a bad mood. She had never been ignored like this in her life. Who knew being a ghost would make her feel so unimportant? This was such a bad feeling that she couldn't even describe it right now. It really left a bad taste in her mouth, so she didn't feel like talking nicely to Liu Xinyu right now.

"I can't speak to you with others around," said Liu Xinyu. "They'd really think I'm someone with an unsound mind. We can't have that now, can we?"

"I'll let you go this time but don't ignore me again. This lady isn't someone you can afford to offend!"

Liu Xinyu almost rolled her eyes when she heard that and wanted to remind this ghost that she was a bloody GHOST! What was the big temper and attitude for? Was it even helpful being a ghost?

"What did you want to say?" asked Yiyi.

"I finally believe that I am in 1998."

"Oh? How is that so?"

"That mobile phone he just took out to take a call... It could only exist in this era. Who would even carry that thing in my times?"

"I thought it was pretty cool. You could hear the other person's voice," said Yiyi.

Liu Xinyu gave her a look, "And I also confirmed that you are an ancient one. What am I as a future person doing with you who is from the past?"

"It doesn't matter whether I'm from the past or you are the future. The reality is that we are both stuck in this unfamiliar time right now."

Liu Xinyu nodded her head in agreement and started eating again. After she was done, another doctor came to check on her and put her on an IV. Liu Xinyu felt the mental and physical fatigue getting to her as she lay down and closed her eyes to sleep.

The next time she opened her eyes, it was already dark outside. The sun had long disappeared, taking the warmth of the day with it and leaving behind the bitter coldness of the dark night.

Sitting up, Liu Xinyu stretched her body and felt a little light. The good thing was that she didn't catch a cold from the 'swimming' she did earlier in the day. Although the swelling on her ankle worsened, it wasn't that bad either. The other injuries on her body were just minor scratches, nothing to even pay attention to. The only big injury was on her head, she seemed to have hit her head badly as she could feel it hurting.

Feeling a little nauseous, Liu Xinyu decided to go outside again. She really couldn't breathe in this strong smell of medicines and disinfectants, these things were only making her feel worse. So, taking the support of the bed, she stood up and then holding the wall, she started walking slowly.

Although it took a lot of effort to hop around on one foot, however, she was someone who did regular exercises so it wasn't all that difficult to hop on one foot either. She found herself walking towards the balcony to get some fresh air but when she got there, she realized she wasn't the only one who had the idea of getting fresh air.

Well, she didn't own this hospital so she couldn't just stop anyone from being here either. But why did it have to be this annoying fellow who saved her earlier in the day from drowning and yelled at her too? Was this what they said about enemies meeting on a narrow road? Was he considered an enemy or a savior?

What do you guys say? What is Qi Yuze considered? Enemy or savior? Obviously, he is a savior but Liu Xinyu might just take him as an enemy instead. You never know with this girl.
