"This is the smell of garlic and ginger mashed up and mixed with vinegar. Coroners usually rub these on a cloth and cover their mouths and noses with it while examining bodies to keep away corpse poison and plague. That's why the smell isn't very pleasant," Zhang Xiaoying explained.
People have occupational habits, and while others may find this smell unbearable, Liu Wuzuo had grown accustomed to it, so much so that he liked to have such a smell at home after work.
Zhang Xiaoying didn't mind it either.
After all, the environment in which she had lived before was even worse in smell.
While speaking, Zhang Xiaoying entered Liu Wuzuo's room.
Liu Wuzuo's room was darker than the main hall, with even the windows covered by cloth.
The first thing Zhang Xiaoying did upon entering the room was to draw back the cloth to let light in.
Lying in bed with her eyes tightly shut and a pallid face, Liu Wuzuo would have been mistaken for dead if not for the faint rise and fall of her chest.
