Unfortunate fate

Mi Jo walked out of her room quietly. She looked at the door that was shut and sighed.

"What happened on that day? Why did I become like this?" Mi Soo asked anxiously. She wanted to know what happened to this person's body and why she stayed in the hospital for so long.

Mi Jo sighed. She hesitated for a while but after seeing how inquisitive Mi Soo was, Mi Jo thought that it might help her regain her memory.

Sigh... "You were having a troubled week and fell from the fourth floor on that day. The police investigated and said there was no foul play and that it was accidental." Mi Jo didn't want to go into details because she had not recovered from the shock either.

Mi Soo furrowed her brow. 'This girl seemed to be very happy and lived better than any other young girl in this country. Her family also seems to love and care for her dearly so why do I feel as though she was felt sad before the accident? Am I missing something?'

She looked at Mi Jo quizzically and asked, "You said she... I was having a hard time. Why?"

Mi Jo sighed. It was hard for her to say this but she said it anyway. "Your marriage was arranged with someone you didn't like."

Mi Soo leaned back finally understanding. 'Aha! So this is like the case of Romeo and Juliet huh? They loved each other but couldn't be together because their parents objected.'

Mi Soo shrugged and then made a request. "I know you all think I'm crazy but there is certainly a mix up here but I want to make a request."

"What is it?" Mi Jo looked more than willing to help.

Mi Soo sighed then stretched her hand. "May I borrow your phone?" she asked. Mi Jo was surprised by this request but gave the phone to Mi Soo anyway.

She inputted a number and dialled it. It ran a few times before the person answered. "Hello? Hello?" Eun Hee heard her mother's voice and felt her heart clench.

She cleared her throat and then spoke. "Hello this is E..." she couldn't bring herself to say her name since she wasn't sure if they knew about her death yet.

"Hello?" the woman spoke calmly but Mi Soo could not continue. "I'm sorry. I guess I dialled the wrong number." she had called her mother's number without even planning what to say.

The lines got disconnected and she lowered her head. This was frustrating for her. She was here, far away from home. She desperately wanted to see her family but she also felt bad about hurting this family.

'I wish they would just believe me when I say I'm not their daughter.' she thought to herself frustratedly.

Mi Jo looked at her worriedly. "Do you want to talk to someone?" she was worried that Mi Soo probably called that jerk again.

Sigh... "How about we go out for a walk?" Mi Soo passed Mi Jo's phone back to her with a bright smile. Even though she was smiling, Mi Jo knew that she was just masking her sadness.

"Alright, I'll wait outside."

Back to the present, Mi Jo checked her call history but realized that Mi Soo deleted the number she dialled already.

Mi Jo sighed and walked downstairs to wait for Mi Soo. When Mrs Kim saw her, she hurried to her. "What happened? Did she calm down already?" she asked anxiously.

Grandfather Kim, Mr Kim and Mrs Kim were all worried when they heard Mi Soo screaming from her dream. Grandfather Kim tried to wake her up but she just kept shouting that she didn't want to die.

Mi Jo smiled slightly. "She wants to go for a walk." Mr Kim wanted to disagree because it was already dark and he didn't want her going anywhere without guards but grandfather Kim but him to it.

"Then you should do that. Our Mini should get some air. Staying locked up at home for a long time can be tiring." he approved.

"But father..." Mr Kim wanted to protest.

"This is not the time to argue. Let the girls go outside for a while but Mi Jo, make sure she doesn't go anywhere with loud noises. She hasn't fully recovered."

Mi Jo nodded and just then, Mi Soo came down. She was wearing a long ash dress with a big coat. This time in Korea is cold at night and she did well to cover up.

Mrs Kim walked up to her and adjusted her coat. "Wait here." she requested with a smile before walking upstairs.

Mrs Kim soon came back with a scarf and placed it over Mi Soo's neck. "It cold out there. You wouldn't want to catch a cold now would you?" she asked while tying the scarf in a bow.

Mi Soo looked at the woman in front of her and imagined her mother doing the same. Her mother usually did the same because she knew how much Eun Hee liked to walk in the rain and snow.

Mrs Kim smiled and nodded. "Have a nice time. Don't stay out too long." Mi Soo nodded and then went out with her friend.

Mi Jo took the wheels and as they drove, Mi Soo said nothing. She soon packed the car and they alighted at the Han bridge. This was a great spot to relax and Mi Jo knew how much her friend liked the Han river.

They walked for a while and Kim Mi Soo's expression looked relaxed. Suddenly, she asked a question. "What happened to the man I was supposed to marry? Why haven't I seen him yet?"

Mi Jo paused. There was so much that Mi Soo didn't know about and she felt guilty for some of them. She paused her lips then smiled awkwardly. "Lee Yun Seok was very worried about you but Mr Kim called the engagement off and asked him to stay away for a while. He said it would be best for the two of you to decide what you want instead of the arranged marriage."

Mi Soo scoffed subconsciously. "He should have said that when she was in this body." murmured so that Mi Jo wouldn't hear.

Just then, she thought about something. 'Wait! What if... What if that girl is in my own body? What if she is with my parents?' just the thought of it made her hopeful.

If the real Mi Soo was in her body then that means her parents wouldn't be too sad and they wouldn't miss her too much. She was so happy that she almost started crying.

Unfortunately, that was not what fate had planned out.
