Tang Fei was lying flat on the couch and was immediately relieved the moment Huo Ting Cheng shook his head. They wouldn't be found out that they had lied. Tang Fei's heart softened, recalling that the kids chose to lie to their father just so that he couldn't hurt her or lock her up once again.
"I'm sorry..." Huo Ting Cheng immediately apologized gazing at Tang Fei. He was apologizing to her, and Tang Fei didn't know how to react.
She lightly nodded her head, closed her eyes, and pretended to fall asleep. This situation was too awkward for her. He has apologized for their lies.
"You have all been dismissed, just go back...." Huo Qi was the one who spoke up after noticing this awkward atmosphere around them. Huo Ting Cheng felt bad that he blamed her when she was innocent and it had to be that woman's fault.
They all scattered away in fright without looking behind them; they left behind Huo Ting Cheng, Huo Qi, the secretary, the kids, and their mother.
For his apology to sound sincere, he decided to do something to show how remorseful he was for blaming her.
"What do you want to have, I can make it for you! Just state anything and I will prepare it for you." He gazed at the kids before gazing at Tang Fei.
Tang Fei was surprised that he volunteered to cook, but it was best if he didn't step inside the kitchen for the time being as they hadn't cleaned the crime scene.
"Not now, maybe later on, we will tell you when we are hungry." She hoarsely spoke up without opening her eyes. She felt nauseous, and it wasn't a good idea to eat anything at the moment, and mostly, he had to stay away from the kitchen.
He turned around to look at the kids but they were also in sync with their Mother.
"We are fine, Daddy... Don't worry..." They smiled back at him in a coded way, and he couldn't do anything apart from walking back to his study room.
Secretary Li and Huo Qi trailed behind him, going over to the study room to mind their own business, seeing the situation was under control and nothing they needed to worry about.
Tang Fei opened her eyes in a slit checking out, seeing they had gone over to the study room and even closed the door, she got up staggering and went into the kitchen with the kids, they found the mango juice that was in the containers and flashed it down the sink tossing the containers into the other sink that was meant for dirty utensils.
How could they leave something so incriminating for Huo Ting Cheng to find?
"Mommy, we didn't want to lie but we had to..." Huo Zhihao hurriedly spoke up, explaining to their mother that they didn't want to have a tainted image when it came to her. She had to know they were good kids, and they lied due to the circumstances.
"Yeah, I know..." She pinched their chubby cheeks, sitting on the marble floor, laying down flat, facing the ceiling, trying to catch her breath. She was feeling exhausted and weak from that short distance walk.
The kids also lay down on the marble floor, leaning their heads on her tummy, facing the ceiling, and accompanying each other quietly with their eyes closed. They thought their mother was scared of their father; thus, they kept quiet, accompanying her.
What if she decides to run away again? No, they had to hold her back tightly and tell her that their father wasn't a bad person.
Huo Ting Cheng, who had gotten back to the study room, immediately opened the CCTV footage and watched their series of actions; earlier on, he had noticed how they were brushing him off! So they probably had lied about this mango juice.
No one knew the kitchen had CCTV cameras installed as they were invisible. He actually didn't know if he should cry or laugh at their little actions of pouring the mango juice.
But watching the footage when she had drunk that mango juice, it didn't seem like she did it intentionally, after smacking her lips, he could see some contentment pasted on her face.
"They lied?" Huo Qi also believed whatever they had said, but their actions said otherwise.
"What do you think?" He closed the footage that was recording them lying on the floor. Even if he wanted to work, he couldn't concentrate.
"Laying on that cold marble floor ain't healthy! What if they catch some cold?" Secretary Li, who had seen the kids and Tang Fei on the floor, wondered if they didn't feel any cold.
"Aren't you seeing they are lying down there peacefully?" This was the first time he had seen his kids relaxed. He was hopeful that she had finally recognized her mistakes and was ready to be a mother.
