However, before Lux approached the stage, he whispered to Erica. The young woman nodded in understanding and then took out her cell phone. She recorded Lux's action and stood beside the stage.
As Gian expected, the eyes of all the restaurant's patrons were immediately focused on the figure of the handsome man with purple hair standing on the stage. Gian showed the charm of Lux Osiris. He was deliberately there because he could see, if the fans were getting bored because they waited too long.
Yes, they had queued for hours just to join the fan club. Plus, they were thirsty and didn't get free coffee. Now, they still had to wait for food and drinks when the restaurant was crowded.
"Hello, good evening everyone," Lux greeted in return. "I am Lux Osiris. For those who don't know me, greetings."
It seemed that some of the restaurant patrons who didn't know Lux's figure started whispering about him. Rona and Leon, stared at Lux's movements intently as if to confirm something.
"I don't know what he's going to do. I hope it's good," Leon said which was nodded by Rona because she was also worried about it.
Gian then picked up a guitar. Practically, his action made some of Lux's fans hysterical. For the first time, they saw their idol holding a musical instrument. Was he going to sing? Or play the guitar?
"I haven't done it for a long time. So, you guys are going to judge my skills. OK?" asked Lux who was already holding a classical guitar. He sat on a chair provided on the stage.
"OK!" replied Lux's fans which made the other visitors curious as well.
"Lux Osiris' 'OK' style has really spread everywhere. It's amazing," Leon praised, much to the astonishment of Rona and the rest of Lux's staff. This fierce-faced man was not the type to praise, and now he was admiring the figure of Lux Osiris?
As soon as the guitar strings were plucked, the excitement was immediate. Lux's fans captured the moment on their cell phones. With a smile on his face, Gian realized something important about his act that night.
'I forgot. I was on Planet Luna. The song I performed, do these people know it? If not, they must think that I composed it. That's bad! If the original singer finds out, I could be sued. But... can this be considered as... me promoting the song? In return, I promise not to admit that it's my creation,' Lux thought as he continued to pluck the strings, creating a beautiful tune.
"How do you like the music?" asked Lux who chose to stop the action for a while.
"That's great, Lux! Did you create it?" asked an enthusiastic fan.
Gian gulped. His worries surfaced as he had feared. "I didn't invent it. I... have heard it somewhere. However, I'm not really sure who this song belongs to. Can you guys help me to remember whose song it is?" asked Lux answering a question with a question.
"Wow, he's asking us to play a game," said one fan.
"Yeah, like a guess the song quiz! It's interesting!" said another fan to which Luxiuz nodded.
Gian breathed a sigh of relief. He felt lucky that people could respond to his words wisely. "Alright. Guess whose song this is."
Everyone seemed to be listening intently. They tried to remember the strings that blended into the soft melody. Gian smiled as he saw the faces of the people in the restaurant contorted in deep thought.
Just as Gian was about to open his mouth to sing, his worries returned. 'Can Lux Osiris sing? Is his voice good? If my voice turns discordant, it will be a disaster!'
"We don't know, Lux. Whose song is this?" asked one frustrated fan who felt she had never heard the music before.
"The song is kind of swirling around in my head. I'm just not sure how to sing it. If my voice is discordant, you'll have nightmares about it," Lux said earnestly, to laughter from his fans.
"We don't care if your voice is discordant. We want to hear you sing!" another fan pleaded enthusiastically.
"I'm not so sure. I'd rather not," Lux replied hesitantly, grimacing.
"Sing! Sing! Sing!"
Gian swallowed. His heart was beating fast. Initially, he had intended to improvise so that his fans wouldn't get angry at him for waiting so long for their orders. However, now he was in danger because of his idea. Lux looked at Erica intending to ask for help, but the young woman got excited because her face lit up while jumping up and down, eagerly waiting for her idol to sing.
"Alright, if you insist. I've already warned you about my voice that can give you nightmares," Lux said, making his fans cheer happily.
Gian was nervous as more and more cell phone cameras were pointed at him. His heart was beating fast, unable to mask the panic. He caught his breath and started to mentally strengthen himself again so that he could perform stunningly that night, just like he did back on Earth.
Hey, dad, look at me
Think back and talk to me
Did I grow up according to plan?
And do you think I'm wasting my time
Doing things I wanna do?
But it hurts when you disapprove all along
A song by the band Simple Plan called Perfect, successfully hypnotized the restaurant patrons that night. Some of their eyes glazed over, like they were going to cry. Gian didn't care if his voice was discordant or even beautiful like an angel. He just wanted to sing, to vent his longing for Earth and the people he loved. Gian sang soulfully. His fingers couldn't stop plucking the strings gently, sweeping away all the hearts.
I try not to think
About the pain I feel inside
Did you know you used to be my hero?
All the days you spent with me
Now seem so far away
And it feels like you don't care anymore
Gian ended his song with a downcast look. He was silent for a few moments to restore his wounded heart. When he looked up, everyone was staring at him with frowning faces. Gian was surprised that there was an instant silence. He turned to Erica who was shedding tears while holding her cell phone because she was recording it.
"Are you guys... alright?" asked Lux anxiously.
"Lux!" shouted the fans with tears in their eyes.
Gian was confused when he saw people crying. Were they sad or happy? He didn't expect that his song choice would make those people flood with tears. Or perhaps, his garbled voice was giving them all earaches. Gian could only stay silent and hug his guitar because he didn't know what to do.
"Mm, what's wrong with you guys?" asked Lux grimacing.
