2 weeks passed by in a flash and the day for the second monster hunting expedition has arrived. I went out to meet the 2nd year students at the gate of the academy. We were paired into groups of 3 this time instead of 5. The 2 people in my group didn't bother talking to me and introducing themselves and insisted that I stay out of their way.

'I guess some things don't change even when you go to different worlds.' I thought to myself.

We headed out towards Willow Forest, the same place where I killed the Wolf King. The main objective this time around was to go deeper into the forest and lessen the number of monsters living there. Towns near Willow Forest have been attacked recently and the people are having a hard time defending their homes from the constant swarms. This time around, we weren't told to bring any proof of killing but instead make sure that we make it out of the forest safe and sound.

The secondary objective was to find out why there was a sudden increase of monsters living inside the Willow Forest. Anything that seems suspicious or out of place will be brought back or reported to the instructors that were coming with us.

We reached the Willow Forest and instead of setting up camp and heading out the next morning, there were people that were to set up camp and the others that were more capable in combat were to immediately enter the forest first to start the expedition.

"Alright, combat groups, you guys start hunting. Meet back at the camp before nightfall. Whatever you do, do not stay in the forest after dark. The stronger magical beasts hunt at night." The instructor in charge said.

"Yes, sir!" The combat group students replied.

I was part of a combat group since Instructor Roman had told the others that I had the capability to carry my own weight when it comes to a fight. My group and I headed into the forest, the sun at the peak of the sky.

A couple of hours passed while we were hunting and we've hunted a number of monsters. The fights weren't extremely hard but it was my first time that I had encountered goblins. They were as easy to kill as the wolves, but what made them more of a threat was the fact that they had weapons and moved in bigger numbers.

The goblins also had some slight intelligence when compared to the wolves. They would have formations and could work as a team when confronted.

None of us in the group suffered any injuries aside from small cuts and bruises. I opened my status to see how much I've grown from the hunting

'I leveled up once, huh. I guess hunting goblins really is a lot better than wolves. They give more experience and they travel in bigger groups.' I looked up at the sky and realized that it was almost time to go back.

"It's getting late." I said to the other 2 people in the group.

"You're right. Let's head deeper and look for one more group then let's head back to camp." One person said and the other agreed.

We went deeper into the forest, getting closer to the heart of it. As we were walking, we saw a faint purplish glow in the distance as the sun was beginning to set. We decided to stealthily investigate and went closer. We saw where the faint glow was coming from and the 3 of us were shocked.

A group of hooded people circled around a giant pillar of stone that had several markings on it that glowed purple. They seemed to be chanting something as they made different gestures and signs with their hands as they chanted.

"We should go back and report this to the instructors." I whispered to my group.

I waited for a reply and once it took too long for them to speak, I turned back to see that the 2 members of my group were also wearing the hooded robes. They pushed me from the place we were hiding and into plain sight of the other hooded people.

"Ack! What the- What are you guys doing?" I questioned the 2 but received no reply. I looked around and realized that I was surrounded. I readied my sword and wand, preparing for a fight.

One of the hooded people walked forward and removed the hood from his head. What was revealed was a handsome man that looked to be in his 20s that had brown hair and brown eyes. The thing that surprised me the most was the long and pointy ears that protrude out from his head.

'Elves?!' I thought to myself, clenching my sword and wand even tighter.

"It's such a pity. If only you were born as an elf into my kingdom, then you wouldn't have to be in this mess." The elf man said. "John Colton, a young man that has the gift and talent to be able to master all of the elements. Such a shame that you have to die for the sake of our kingdom." He added.

"Elves… I'm guessing you're from Theviel Kingdom…" I asked the man, still being wary of any attacks.

"You're quite knowledgeable. Well I guess it is normal, our kingdoms being at war." He said. "I really wanted to see how you would grow in the future. The magnificent things you can achieve with your gifts. However, you are a threat to our kingdom, and so you must die." He made a hand gesture and spoke in a language I couldn't understand.

The hooded people that were surrounding me began to attack. Four of them rushed me with daggers in hand while the others began to cast magic.

I desperately tried to dodge the incoming attacks. Parrying the daggers and trying to make my way out of the group. Unfortunately, there were so many of them blocking my way that I wasn't able to get out.

I was attacked continuously and unceasingly that the casters had enough time to cast their spells. The casters didn't care whether they would hit me or an ally and just continued casting their spells.

"THIS IS IT! THIS IS WHY OUR THEVIEL KINGDOM WILL WIN THIS WAR!" The man said as he laughed like a maniac.

[Primal Instinct] skill activated.

"AAARGH!" I scream as I feel the daggers cut into me and the spells hit my body.

"Raise Earth! Raise Earth! Raise Earth!" I encased myself in walls of earth until my mana ran out and dropped to my knees, blood dripping from almost every part of my body.

'Is this how I die?' I thought as I felt my body go weaker and weaker by the second. My hands were unable to keep hold of both my sword and wand.

My vision started to go dark as I heard the constant banging from outside as they tried to destroy the walls. As I began to lose consciousness, I started to hear screams and wails from outside the walls of earth, seemingly the number of people had doubled. The sounds of battle came closer and closer.

The walls of earth cracked open and I saw the shadow of a person reach out to me. I reached out to my sword trying to grab it, mustering all the strength I had left.

"I'm... so..rr...y… Lu...na…" Unable to reach and grab the sword, I passed out.
