"Again, you're all free to leave if you feel you can no longer handle this test," Driscoll reminded the students.
After Driscoll's little speech, the students quietly began forming two lines, as they had been instructed to do.
None of the students left. They all chose to stay behind.
Verlice didn't have a magic license, so he joined the line formed in front of Driscoll.
Grey immediately followed behind Verlice when he saw him moving.
When Verlice turned around and saw Grey coming toward him, he was a little confused.
Hadn't Grey said he had a magic license, then why was he following him into the line of those who didn't have a license? It just didn't make sense.
He waited until Grey was close enough, then immediately began to question him.
"What are you doing? Why did you come here?" Verlice asked in a very low tone, so as not to be caught talking by Driscoll.
"Have you forgotten what I told you earlier about helping you get a magic license? I'm in the same line as you, so I'll be able to help you. Don't worry, nothing will go wrong," Grey replied in an equally hushed tone.
"Won't he freak out?" Verlice asked, looking at Driscoll, who was about 40 meters away from them.
"Don't worry about him either. I can handle him, alright? Now let us stop talking so we don't get caught," Grey replied before shutting up.
Verlice wanted to ask him how he was going to do it, but when he saw Driscoll staring at him, he swallowed nervously and kept his mouth shut.
He clearly remembered Driscoll's threat, and he didn't want to be the scapegoat.
The students who had journeyed with Grey right after he got off the train were all shocked to see him join the line of those who didn't have a license. After using his ability on their way here, was Grey now going to pretend that he didn't have a license?
They all knew Grey was lying. He couldn't have used his ability if he didn't have a license.
Drake was more shocked than the others. He didn't need anyone to tell him that Grey had lied. But what he couldn't understand was why he was lying.
Is he trying to accomplish something by pretending he doesn't have a license or does he really not have a license?
Either way, he decided to just mind his own business. He had already seen Grey's wrath once, and he wasn't ready to experience something like that again.
He wasn't the only one who thought that way; other students had the same thought. None of them wanted to face Grey's wrath.
The queue in front of Driscoll was the smallest. That was because most of the students there were already licensed. Driscoll's line consisted of only five students, including Grey.
Once all the students were in both lines, the registration process began.
Ayn sat back down, grabbed the tablet on the table in front of her, and began taking down the information of the students in her assigned queue. The students went one by one while Ayn noted down their personal information.
In no time, a third queue formed. This queue consisted of students whose personal information Ayn had already noted.
Even then everyone was quiet, for the students were afraid of incurring Driscoll's wrath. Students spoke only when asked. Those who insisted they had to talk did so in an incredibly quiet tone so as not to make noise.
On the other hand, Driscoll had also started taking down the data of the students in front of him.
At the moment, only one student had passed under his supervision.
While Driscoll began questioning the second student in his assigned queue, Ayn had enrolled about 20 students.
The process of license registration is quite different from that of enrollment. The process takes time and requires careful and thorough consultations.
"He is really the best when it comes to dealing with such things? As much as I do not like the evil look that never leaves his face, he's very useful in times like these. Students will continue to make noise no matter what I or any of us say. He's really good for this job," a blonde girl muttered quietly to herself. She was one of the staff members sitting there.
She is the youngest female staff member at Creston Academy, albeit a few months older than Driscoll. She is pretty and has a gentle demeanor, just like Ayn, but something was distinct about her.
She always has a sly smile on her face like a fox. A perfect definition of cunningness is what she is. She's hard to figure out because even in the face of death, she always has a smile on her face. She is better off as a spy than as a teacher. She is known as Cleo.
After about twenty minutes, Driscoll finished with the second student, and the third student stepped forward. Verlice was now standing at the back of the student. After that student, he was next.
"What is your name, family, city, and identification number?" Driscoll began questioning as soon as the third student stepped forward.
Verlice listened to everything Driscoll asked the student before him. For a brief moment, his heart skipped a beat when he heard what the requirements were for a temporary magic license.
His face paled with fear and apprehension, but outwardly he maintained a calm facade.
'Why didn't you tell me all this was required, Lera? What am I supposed to do now?' He asked anxiously.
"I didn't know that either. The previous Verlice didn't go to a magic school, how would I know?>, Lera responded.
Verlice quickly realized something from her words and asked, 'Wait, didn't you say that the previous Verlice didn't have a system, so how did you keep track of his life then? Don't tell me you lied about him not having a system.'
"I didn't, everything I have told you so far is nothing but the truth. The answer to your question is that I was there throughout Verlice's life. The only time I left him was when he drank poison and died. But I returned shortly after you took over>
"Anyway, that's just by the way, what were you talking about again?>, Lera asked, as if she didn't remember what Verlice had said before.
'How do I meet all the requirements to get this license? My family, my city, my identification number; I don't know anything about it. The only thing I've is my name, which I'm not even sure is mine, to begin with. Other than that, I literally know nothing,' Verlice responded.
"That's not a problem. I'll get you all that quickly. Just give me a minute.>
'Oh, really…okay. That'll be nice,' Verlice said, grinning.
