First C-Rank Mission

They had been given a break after their first kills, time to get their thoughts in order and prepare for their first C rank mission.

Sasuke planned to use the week they had to head out of the village and head to an Uchiha Supply base not so far away that was hidden, that is where they kept the falcon summoning scroll and he planned to get it early.

They were great for tracking, delivering messages, and transportation. He also planned to give a smaller version of the contract to his team.

The smaller contract was made for transferring information between summoned beasts. They wouldn't be able to summon large falcons like Sasuke could and ride them, but they could summon smaller message ones so they could stay in contact.

Kakashi had his Ninken pack so he already had a reliable way to deliver information, but that didn't mean he couldn't have another.

It didn't take him long to get there, it was only a half a day's trip out at ninja speed. Which was just jumping through trees and not traveling on foot like walking.

When he arrived he found there had been no activity in years, meaning not even Itachi had been here yet. Granted the only thing here was some basic supplies such as ration pills, soldier pills, ninja tools, and the falcon scroll.

Itachi had already had a crow summon so he must not care for it, taking the scroll and emptying the supplies by using a series of storage scrolls he had made he made sure he got everything before with a single small fireball he was able to set the place ablaze.

After a few hours, the fire would collapse the place in on itself and then seal the entrance which would cause the fire to burn itself out.

As he headed back he did stop when he found a berry bush, taking a few bushels he planned to start a garden at the compound so he could start self-sustaining himself. Seeing these were wild blueberries just meant it was another thing to look forward to eventually.

Now back to the village and into the Uchiha compound, he had already begun the process of transferring the berries and planting them.

Now all he had to do was make a contract with the falcons.

After he opened the scroll, bit his finger, and signed his name. A small sleek looking falcon appeared. in a puff of smoke, looking at Sasuke as it flapped its wings a bit.

''Another young Uchiha? Sure enough, well as tradition states you're free to sign a contract, just please remember to send some meat occasionally, or summon us in the forest of death so we can hunt freely. What's your name kid?"

"Sasuke Uchiha.'' Sasuke responded with a small nod.

''Fugaku's boy? Good, sorry about what happened kid."

"It's fine, there is a deeper meaning over what happened and I plan to find out."

"Oh? No blind need for revenge? No anger to slaughter your brother?"

"No, there is revenge, but it isn't blind, it will be aimed at those who deserve it and not those who don't deserve it around me. I feel anger from my brother, but I will make no choice on how I will handle him until the two of us can talk properly. Even if that requires beating some sense into him first to do so.''

The falcon's wings spread as he began to laugh, which sounded weird. ''Oh, you're a breath of fresh air! Every Uchiha so far had been some brooding edge lord who only grunted all the time!" The falcon began to dance, flapping its wings and allowing itself to pick up some air as it danced around.

''Man, I haven't had a good laugh since I watched Dan slam beak first into a branch, well I'll see you around kid if you ever end up summoning me." The falcon gave a mock salute before he vanished in another puff of smoke. With that Sasuke wrapped the scroll up and put it into the hidden library in the compound, heading out to go find the rest of his team so they could sign the smaller contracts.

Ninjas could sign more than one contract, most just chose not to because of how annoying it was to deal with some summons, and some would refuse to allow you to become a contractor if you were already contracted to someone they didn't like. It was like children refusing to play with each other because they had a small disagreement.

Kakashi accepted easily, he had no reason to confuse. Unlike others, he had raised his Ninken since they were young, so they trusted him far more.

Naruto was happy to learn a summoning, even if it was just a messenger bird it was still a friend he could summon and chat with.

Sakura became a bumbling mess when Sasuke showed up at her house. Thinking it was far different, but calmed down as he explained what the contract was for. Easily accepted it as well.

With that, they had a way to keep in contact with each other pretty easily.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few days later the four of them were all standing in front of the Hokage who was currently smoking from his pipe, leaned back as he used his free hand to stroke his bear. ''I do in fact have some C-rank missions that need to be completed, here." He pulled a scroll from the stack beside him and handed it off to Kakashi.

"Pretty run of the mill, a merchant is asking for a group to escort him to a small logging village. Shouldn't take more than a few days to a week if everything is fine."

"Bandits have been reported in small numbers so be careful, if there are any updates on the mission, please let me know, but I leave it in your capable hands Kakashi."

They all gave a bow before leaving, taking the scroll they all head to the training ground before Kakashi opened the scroll.

"Looks like he said, merchant name is Geko, sells commodities, and luxury items for the log workers in return for some lumber looks like he's trading and working to help build the fences to the new farms around here. Nothing seems suspicious, the mission starts tomorrow at 9 sharp, meet me at the front gates. Pack your gear and equipment.''

With that Kakashi unrolled the scroll a bit further, tearing off pieces at it basically was just copies of the mission. Once he did that Kakashi vanished in a puff of smoke as he flickered away.

Before parting Sasuke handed off a storage scroll to Sakura. ''Use that instead of a bag, it's just easier and faster. It also weighs much less and can hold twice the amount, thank Naruto for helping me get the scroll just right."

Naruto grinned as he gave a thumb's up. ''I can't use the chakra yet, but I can make the baseline! With Sasuke's eyes and chakra control, he's able to finish any I make."

"Thank you both, I'll see you both tomorrow."

Naruto and Sakura left after that, Sasuke thought about what he was going to do, and since he already had things packed for at least a month. He decided he would gather information on the merchant and observe him, just to make sure it wasn't anything more than what they were bargaining for. It was unlikely, but missions can, and will go wrong.

Heading out he began to search the village, using the picture as a reference. With his Sharingan and speed, he was able to quickly locate the merchant who was currently walking through a crowded market, making his way to a stand that sold dumplings he bought quite a large amount before he continued to walk through the market.

Soon he entered a park with two other men who were much older.

It looked like they were having some sort of picnic, Sasuke only got close enough that he could remain hidden and pick up on their conversation, he wasn't hearing anything suspicious, nothing out of the ordinary.

However he did hear some interesting tales about the current market as a whole, what the village was currently lacking on, apparently, there was a large shortage of meat. Not because there were no animals, no it was because no new genin teams were taking hunting missions. There were a few civilian hunters but nowhere near enough to provide for the large village.

Sasuke would keep that in mind, it could be a way to start building a better reputation to the village for himself as the Uchiha heir, or someone else he'd like to see enter power. After a few hours, he didn't find anything weird, but he did learn a lot about how the markets worked while the three ate.

Sorry about the absence. A lot of things happened all at once and now I'm just exhausted.

Still somewhat sick, but in short some things happened, pipes froze and caused the toilet to overflow. Ruined the floor, so now we need to replace a large portion of the floor, fix any damages.

Needing to pull extra shifts to help pay for everything I'll need to do.
