The Place Where The Moon Could Be Reached

Lunar Year: 664, Day: 30 of (Yud Bet)

Natasha (POV)

It's really good being in a Marquis Household, but there is a downside, as I am still just a little girl. I can't freely go out.

"Don't tell my parents." I warned the guard coldly.

"But young miss although you have been so kind to me and the others, what if the master finds out? It would mean saying hello to death itself." The guard said, his voice filled with fright thinking of the outcome.

"Humph, you don't need to worry if ever my dad or mom finds out I would take responsibility. Also. if both of us keep our mouth shut then no one would know." What is this guy still dawdling about? The time is getting closer.

This old guard I'm talking to right now was the guard I found to help me sneak out of the mansion and go outside the city. since the place where the moon could be reached is located at the outskirts of the city, somewhere around the mountain.

"Young miss, it's a bit complicated. How about this, I will take you out but we will only stay there for at most half an hour, you might not know this but every night the True Sight will be activated that will sense the presence of every people in the mansion.

This year, in particular, is different. The moon covered the night sky, I turned my sight above, looking at the moon getting nearer. This special place that I'm currently at is the place where the moon would be It's closest in the land, as if your hand can touch it.

This event has a lore, it is about Kaguya-Hime, a princess of the moon. Kaguya-Hime descended into the mortal world and she became friends with a human man. Gradually, she fell in love but she didn't have the guts to tell the human. Her time in the mortal world was limited, eventually, she will go back to the moon.

Several years had passed until the time for Kaguya-Hime to leave has come. All these years, like her, the man also loved her. However, he felt too inferior and thought that he didn't deserve her.

In the flow of time, he suppressed his love for her by marrying a human woman. On the very day Kaguya-Hime is about to leave, she looked at him, disappointingly. In her heart, she hoped that in this final moment, at least she could hear the words she wanted to hear before she leaves.

The man didn't answer her hope at all, even when Kaguya-Hime was gone, he still couldn't bring himself to say his feelings. All he could do was cry.

The key to this event was to say the words that Kaguya-Hime wanted the most.

It's finally time. As the author, I remembered this event very well. I'm the one who wrote it after all. The answer to Kaguya-Hime's hope was 'The moon is beautiful'

I got this idea of making this as an answer with the reference of a famous japanese writer Sohseki Natsumé. He was a teacher who taught his students that if you can't convey your feelings directly you could also say "The moon is beautiful" and that is enough for a confession.

"The moon is beautiful."

*Several minutes passed and nothing happened*

Eh? Why didn't it work? Let's try it again.

"The moon is beautiful."

*Another couple of minutes passed*

What? Why is there no reaction? Was I wrong? It's impossible! Maybe I mispronounced it?

"Young miss, we only have 5 minutes left and we still need to travel if we are even a minute late the True Sight would activate."

"I know already! Stop bothering me I'll be there soon!" Ahh, I'm mad!

"Y-Yes."

"Young miss, the time is up. We can't afford to stay here for any longer."

"I know." It still doesn't work I don't have any choice left but to leave, there are still more ways to awaken magic anyway. It's just sad that I won't get that limited item.

Ren saw a little girl with silver-grey hair climbing down the mountain with hurried steps.

"Eh, who was that little girl just now? Did she come here to gaze at the moon or something?" Ren wondered, beads of sweat were falling from his forehead. He initially thought that he would arrive sooner, as the mansion he lives at was close to this place but he underestimated how tall the mountain is for him to climb.

A child would need an adult' help if he or she wants to climb this mountain faster.

"It took me quite a bit of time sneaking out, and climbing the mountain made me thought that I was already out of time." Ren took several deep breaths, he was really tired of climbing the mountain.

"Like they say you need to work hard if you want to get rewards... It's now time to claim mine."

Ren fixed his gaze at the moon that was so close to him, trying to reach his hand to test if he could touch but it was futile. The moon he is seeing looked illusory.

"I love you."

When those words got out of his mouth the moon reacted, shining more brightly.

Ren clutched his head that was aching, he was currently reading a novel's raw.

"This chapter is in Japanese this time huh? The chapter before this was French. I wonder what that author has for me in the next chapter tomorrow. I mean, come on. Why write a novel with different languages in each chapter? Oh, it did say that it needs to be unique. Fuck you!"

Ren read the last Japanese words that he is going to translate for the day.

Ren was too tired to think straight and he wanted to get his work over so he quickly typed the translation without properly checking if it's right or wrong. His mind thought that since it is somewhere around those lines, he could write it simpler.

After typing his translation, he read it.
